Now comes word that coach Mike Brown has been fired by the Cavs. The source was Rick Bucher (sp?) at ESPN The Magazine.
  2. Is that the same Dave Pallone as the umpire who suspended Reds manager Pete Rose in 1988???
  3. Am I the only one who noticed the shape of West Virginia on the Hydra Market sign?
  4. Hmm, the guy who owns that pillow must have a user of Flickr for photo storage!
  5. At first my instinct was Richmond, Indiana (right next to Ohio), with an outside chance of Virginia. Looking at the pics I'm now guessing Virginia because of the following: 1. VCU, or VIRGINIA Commonwealth University 2. a Hess gas station (there are none of those in Indiana) 3. an Exxon station (not in Richmond, IN; the closest ones are on I-74 west of the Ohio state line) 4. a US 1/US 301 sign (those routes do not run in Indiana) 5. a sign with a phone number having an 804 area code (804 is for Richmond, VA) 6. some white license plates with letters having serifs (characteristic of Virginia plates) 7. if you look hard enough in one of the pictures of a big building, you see the word VIRGINIA in the bottom left of the pic 8. part of the Virginia state (or is it commonwealth?) flag Wonderful thread, by the way! I was there last year! Unfortunately it rained that day.

Believe it or not, there's still talk about the NFL's Minnesota Vikings possibly relocating to either San Antonio or Los Angeles!

Rob, is that the Airplane Express at 407 N. Main Street? I'm talking about where E. Division Road (IN 124) takes off eastbound from Main Street (IN 1/116). I have had the good fortune of filling up not once, but twice, at that station. The first time was in April 2003 (when it was still Phillips 66), but when I returned in June 2004, it switched over to Marathon.
  8. While this thread hasn't had any activity in more than three years, I thought I'd pass along the fact that Prospect Hill has its own website! See http://historic-prospect-hill.org/ and knock yourself out!
  9. Funny, I thought Morton's was based in New York, Queens County (one of NYC's five boroughs) to be exact. Oh, well, Chicago lost Bank One to New York-based Chase, so that evens the score!

The U. S. Playing Card Company is leaving? Where is it going?
  11. Indianapolis is one of my favorite cities! Thanks for the thread (oops, threads), Zachariah!
  12. Now WLW is reporting that Sean Miller is indeed going to Arizona. What the hey? I thought he promised that he would stay here! He should know that there exists an opposite to the word "yes". Just think of the massive adjustments he and his family would have to make! That alone would make it a no-brainer that he would stay at XU! If that WLW report is true I hope he fails out there. TRAITOR! LIAR! Talk about the ultimate justice!
  13. I am rooting on the Cavs' rivals because their owner favors casinos in Ohio.

Are they eradicating Pete Rose-related stuff intentionally? Did Bud Selig (who has kept the ban on Pete) have anything to do with this?
  15. In that case, GO BULLS! GO PACERS! GO PISTONS! GO CELTICS!
  16. I actually ate at a Jason's Deli restaurant, in Memphis back in August 1999. According to their website at http://www.jasonsdeli.com they are based in the 512 area code, meaning they are out of the Austin, Texas, area, not Arizona.
  17. What do Mike, Carol, Greg, Peter, Bobby, Marcia, Jan, and Cindy have to do with Antioch College? LOL

Oops, I missed a county seat! Probably not; it's probably a satellite courthouse of the one in the real county seat, Crown Point. I've put some thought into "clinching" Gary, but I've been strongly warned against doing so because of its reputation. From what I've seen online it looks very clean and safe around the Genesis Convention Center and the baseball stadium. I've thought about taking Broadway/State Road 53 to get to downtown from I-90. I'm uncertain as to how Broadway is closer to I-94. I don't want to be a carjack victim!
  19. All right, Marsh's! The closest one to me is in Franklin, so I have a tendency to interrupt trips to Indiana for a little grocery shopping! (I always get non-perishables like their brand of soda.) Is that the US Post Office plant in the background? It looks a lot like the one in Dayton. I've considering transferring to the one in Indianapolis.

At 432 N. Gilbert (IL 1) north of town there's a Schroeder's Drive-In that used to be a Burger Chef. It has lots of BC artifacts, and it's a definite step back in time. Just follow I-74 to Exit 215B and head north. It's on the left (west) side of the road, just south of the Marathon station.
  21. It's East of Chicago Pizza Company!!! (If only they had kept that logo instead of the new one. No wonder they're closing more stores than opening new ones.)

ALL RIGHT! There's a pic of a county road marker with the outline of Ashland County! I actually took some pictures of a couple back in 2003, one of CR 1095, the other of Township Road 1704. I was told by a trustworthy source that there used to be older signs that were the shape of the county (as in no white background) that graced Ashland County's highways. Do any of these still exist?
  23. How about Mount Storm Park? I used to go there as a youngster.
  24. For Ohio companies, you still have the following: Bob Evans Tee Jaye's Country Place (like Bob Evans but only in and around Columbus) East of Chicago Pizza Co. Skyline Chili (just broke free from some company based in Rhode Island) LaRosa's Frisch's Gold Star Chili That's all I can think of at the moment.
  25. Hey, it looks like Buddy's Pizza! I remember my parents taking me there back in 1992, and I had such fond memories that I went back last year. I even picked up a shirt from the restaurant! You can find Buddy's on the Web at http://www.buddyspizza.com/ . They've got about ten restaurants in the Detroit area.
