Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't LaPorte County's county seat LaPorte? Or is that just a satellite courthouse?

PreservationRestoration, you might be thinking of WKOI 43. That's a religious station out of Richmond. I sometimes get it in my apartment; Springfield's Channel 47 is a translator station. It used to be called "43C" in TV Guide. There is a Channel 4 in Indianapolis, WTTV (I almost said WTTE; they must have changed call letters), or Indy's CW affiliate.

Thanks for the tour, Ink! Back when I lived in Hamilton my family and I would always go through there via US 27 to connect to I-70 when we were headed to points north and west. We always took Hamilton-Richmond (duh!) Road/OH 177 (and IN 227 on the Hoosier side) to US 27 to get there. I have pleasant memories of trips to visit my brother when he was a student at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, in the mid-late 1980s. About Tom Raper RV, I remember hearing they opened a store in Fairfield some five years ago in the old Furrow's store ("Don't do it yourself without us! Furrow.") on Dixie Highway (Route 4) at, I think, Michael Lane (opposite Camelot Drive). Is that still there?

The closest I've been to this neighborhood is driving through on Central Avenue, enough to know it's Middletown's answer to Hamilton's Highland Park. I never knew it was called Upper Arlington; I thought that was reserved for part of Columbus' west side. One interesting item: my 1989 Ohio DeLorme atlas mistakenly calls Middletown "Upper Arlington" on the map on the back! Now I know where that error came from!

Tsk, tsk! Maysville is the seat of Mason County. Kenton County's seat is Independence. Oops, it has two seats--Covington is the other!
  6. Ink: Thanks for the Delaware pictures! My brother lives there!
  7.   SEICER: Thank you for the tour of Ironton High School! I have a major fascination with such old buildings, particularly the rooms you showcased! Great job!
  8. Darn, I was hoping the traffic lights would go away. I've driven that stretch of US 23 south of Delaware and find them to be a problem. My suggestion is to make US 23 limited access, with exits to the various businesses, perhaps with service roads like they have along the interstates in St. Louis.

Like most of you, I was expecting the city linked to Elvis, and when I saw pictures with snow I was like, what? Given the lighted left turn only sign in the seventh picture, I will venture to guess this Memphis is in Michigan.
  10. I found Peach's website, and it looks so much like First Watch.
  11. ColDayMan, Are you talking Simpsons as in Jessica and Ashlee? :?

Thank you very much, Summit Street, for the Erie pictures! (Erie is my favorite Pennsylvania city, by the way, and I have been to all 67 county seats--and a few other cities.)

 AMEN! And while I'm at it, they can take the Columbus Crew away, too!
  14. Yes, I can. Thank you to everyone for the tips!
  15. I'm sorry, but I don't see it. I was expecting to see those big mega-light posts that shine on the Jacobs Field diamond. :-o
  16. What you say is Jacobs Field looks like Gund (I refuse to call it Quick-E Mart or whatever it is now!) Arena.
  17. Rob, I really enjoyed your pictures! I've been to Canton once myself (twice if you count passing through on US 30), and I remember the downtown was not rundown, but west of town toward Massillon on OH 172 near the place I picked up my Stark County highway map in 1998 it was rather ... shall we say ... nostalgic. (Then again, I love nostalgic scenery!)
  18. I like the restaurant The Spot in downtown Sidney. I went to its website, http://www.thespottoeat.com , but the graphics did not load on the front page. :?
  19. I'm pretty sure it's in the U. S. Capitol, under the Rotunda where there are statues saluting all fifty states. I had the fortune of visiting Washington two years ago.
  20. There is a chain called Waffle House based in Plainfield (west of Indianapolis on US 40) that had a combination yellow and orange sun/blue moon symbol. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffle_House the Indiana-based Waffle House has renamed itself Sunshine Cafe (there is or used to be one in Middletown near the Marsh grocery as far as Ohio goes), and the Waffle Steak locations in Indiana are changing "Steak" to "House."

"Ink", that looks like Bentino's Pizza! I've eaten there! (There is another location in Jamestown, by the way.)
  22. I personally hate it when ballparks and stadia are all of a sudden named for corporations. :x It's no wonder I have lost interest in professional sports. Plus, I still tend to say "Riverfront Stadium" when I talk about the Cincinnati Reds. :-( After all, the last time I went to a Reds home game was 1995! :-o
  23. No, Hubbard is to the northeast of Youngstown, in Trumbull County at that (Y-town is in Mahoning County).
  24. Even though my car does not take E-85 fuel, it's sad that the only Dayton locations are at WPAFB. FWIW, one can also log onto http://www.e85fuel.com/ for more information, including E-85 stations in other states.
  25. It's sad to see what happened to KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Long John Silver's, and A&W happening to DQ.
