Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Hope that "inspiration walk" does not pass what appears to be new construction on the right hand side of that pic. From the rear it looks like an army barrack (and a cheaply constructed one at that).

Oxford - August 2014
Thanks for the info. Are you saying Beta's are no longer on campus? I know a while back they had to re-colonize or something, which I found shocking. When I attended (when dinosaurs roamed the earth) Beta were one of the top frats if not the top. Everybody rushed them and it was very difficult to get.

^thanks...from your detailed captions it appeared as if you were a Miami alum.

Eridony, I noted that you captioned the frat house that was being re-built after a fire "Former Phi Gamma Delta" house. Are Figi's gone from campus or did they move to another house? Is this going to be a frat house again once completed or put to another use?

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
^well currently on the site there is a surface lot and a "parking structure" which is falling down, has no retail and is not capable of eventually supporting a larger building on top of it so your worse case scenario is better than what we have now.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
doesn't all transportation slow in bad weather (cars, planes, bikes, walking)? If I am driving a car in bad weather to work I am leaving earlier. Does not sound like an unreasonable request when it comes to public transportation.

The thing that distinguishes Heinens in my opinion is their all around service and the quality of their employees.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
^I guess it would have to be west side property owners rather than landlords as the article indicates they want to construct their new headquarters.

Cleveland: Warehouse District: Development and News
Is anything going on with the Worthington conversion project? It has been well over a year (December 2013) since they were awarded the tax credit but I have not heard a peep. A brief glance at the Dalad website made no mention of it.

Cleveland: Downtown: Cleveland Athletic Club Redevelopment
Actually I found it very heartening that so many entities are still interested in the building...bigger problem is that over the years so many owners eyes were bigger than their pocketbooks.

Pittsburgh - September 8th, 2014
For what it is worth, my old next door neighbor was from Pittsburgh. Very urban kind of guy...lived in downtown Chicago when he had a job there...Cleveland Hts here in Cleveland. Moved back to Pittsburgh about 5 years ago and bought a house in Squirrel Hill. When I was visiting recently he was lamenting how dead downtown Pittsburgh was after five. I have no first hand experience as I have only been 4-5 times (day trips) for a game or for court. Any way, that is one resident's opinion who has been around (is a consultant and travels a lot for his job).

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
That is the first time on this board I have ever heard anybody describe Charlotte as dense and walkable. I recall a few years ago some thread that went on and on about Charlotte, and the venom was incredible (including by posters who had lived or been raised there).

Cleveland: Downtown: John Hartness Brown Buildings / Euclid Grand
I am curious as to whether this project is a go or is still in limbo. In the past UOer's have reported activity at the site but that was long ago and it was apparently mostly related to abatement work. Has anybody been by and noticed any active construction and or does anybody actually know what is going on with financing and the like?

Cleveland: University Circle: Centric Development (formerly Intesa)
As I have expressed a number of times in this thread and others (I am actually becoming a bore on the issue), I am not a big fan of Coral at all for countless reason. However I have been giving them the benefit of the doubt on this project, primarily because they are partnered with Panzica. Very disappointed this has not moved forward yet.

Interesting. Has to be more to all this. Somebody pissed off somebody. Yet the administration will bend over backwards for Gilbert.

Cleveland: Downtown: Millennia's Garfield Bldg & HQ Developments
^I was kinda thinking the same thing...but then if I recall correctly if you went in the main door of the NCB Building you then had to take a left to get to the banking room so it might have actually been in the Garfield Building. But then again I really think it was in the NCB Building, although I am not positive. It has been a while but strange I don't know for sure as I have been in that banking room at least a hundred times if not more.

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
... and this video provides a graphic reminder why (for $330+M) it's being built-- to serve West Side/suburbanites commuting to the JJC, CC and UH. Talk of neighborhood development was a ruse to get neighborhood pols to buy in. They would have been better served with 60 more blocks of 490 with an exit at 105. It probably would have been cheaper too. This is a compromise. In any case, ODOT won't do the actual developments so they can't really predict what they will look like. That would have made sense. I supported this when the plan was to extend 490 to an actual destination. Now it's been muddled to a point that it can't properly serve any purpose. Now it's just a big price tag for diddly squat. I don't have much of an opinion about OC one way or another, but after reading the last two posts I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

^Interesting. Thanks for the info. Maybe I will change my original speculation (that duck island would be first) to Stark.

Cleveland: Which Project Will Be Next and Why
^When I first started this thread, as noted in my post, I did not include Intesa in my original list because the developer kept saying they were going to break ground before the end of the year. So here we are in Feb. 2015 and not a peep from them. You really should not blow your horn if the odds are you are not going to be able to follow through. This project drives me nuts because of all its advantages (location and support of UCI) and potential, and yet nothing.

Frederick, Md.
Haven't they ever heard of surface parking lots. They need to tear some of those old buildings down and put some in. I mean what kind of American urban planning is this?
