Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
^The PD article reporting all this stated that the new building will be done by July 2014. 18 months sounds pretty quick to me especially considering they do not even have a design yet.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Actual, MTS has a very good point. If news articles are posted in mutiple threads rather than in the thread that makes the most sense (in this case...downtown residences) then we ended up with multiple discussions on the same topic in different threads with some things being repeated over and over or posters missing information, or wanting to comment on something or try to look up a previous post they recalled and then having to search over and over. It has happen to me often and it is very frustrating.

East Cleveland: News & Discussion
^That will never work or happen if EC where to dissolve and the surrounding communties annex. Cleveland would never go for CH getting all the "good stuff" (relatively speaking of course since we are talking about EC) such as Forest Hills and Nela Park while they are stuck with the rest of the "junk", problems, costs and no tax base.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
^quality journalism...way to get your facts right (Med Mart). The problem with articles like this is that when I see such a glaring error in connection with something of which I am aware, I start to question other facts in the article.

Cleveland's Tower City Center - declining or realigning to its market?
^The points you raise have been discussed countless times over and over in the Tower City thread itself. I don't know why it needs a seperate thread so everybody can repeat themselves again but hell, knock yourselves out.

Cities of Connecticut (and Moses Cleaveland's grave)
Haha. He actually left Cleveland shortly after surveying it in 1796, never to return again. In addition, I believe the "a" was not dropped until the 1830's or 40's (a newspaper did it due to spacing problems), well after Moses was dead. Somebody should probably tell the gang in Connecticut that they have spelled Moses' last name wrong on their sign. Interesting thread and pics.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I guess my question is whether the real estate consultants retained by the county knew about this new offer before tonight and did they have a chance to evaluate and score it. If not I guess they will have that opportunity in the next few weeks and I would also imagine the Geis now will be allowed to respond. Clearly there are many more factors than price (of the Ameritrust Building) and the lease rate for the new county space.

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
^the owner is a corporation with no assets whose shareholders are entities controlled by the Casino and the Maloofs. Unless there is some provision in Ohio law that directly affects the facts in this case of which I am unaware, they would have to pierce the corporate veil to go after the shareholders for any $$$ due which is not an easy thing to do.

^right on all points

Cleveland: Demolition Watch
^I am sick of people saying don't blame the casino. Lots of blame to go around (Maloofs, the city) and a good portion of it should be placed on the laps of the Casino Gods. They WANTED it to be torn down and clearly plotted a strategy to see this result. Again I feel for that poor contractor who was hoodwinked into doing 300,000 in emergency repairs thinking he was going to be paid and now has no recourse to enforce his lien and a judgment proof owner.

^what a mess. Looks like the casino people are getting exactly what they wanted simply by waiting and waiting. I feel for that poor contractor who is out over $300,000.00 due to no fault of his own and who was willing to buy the building in the foreclosure process and fix it up ( or so he said). I do believe that the woman from the preservation society is correct when she said there are hundreds of buildings in Cleveland in worst condition and the city is not declaring an emergency in connection with them. I could have probably counted ten or more driving down Carnegie today (one of them being the W & S Building) I'm usually not that person, but something seems fishy here.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
^I am actually glad to hear this because currently I find the re-developed Euclid from the Circle to Mayfield sorta dark at night (especially given all the buildings) and especially around the "circle" (not a real circle any more of course) area. Think it has to do with the new street lights which are probably more energy efficient and have a more direct beam.

^MTS, go back another 10-12 years as far as M is concerned. I lived in DC in the '84 and M was already a shopping street including the Georgetown mall.

R.I.P.: Robert Pence
Very sorry to hear this. Without ever having met Robert you could tell by his posts and pictures that he was a true gentleman. I am sure he will be very much missed by those who loved him and those on this board.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
And what will that tell us? It's not a convention sized hotel, It's adjacent to the convention center. What we do not need is a small hotel attached to the center. We need to take a step out of the box and build a convention sized and functioning property, period. MTS, when you say WE do you mean us on this board....'cuz I still haven't finished my Christmas shopping yet and I am going to have a lot of bills to take care of in January...I might be able to do something in March if I get a tax refund.

Ohio Turnpike
Had to laugh at the "point made" that Northern Ohio will be receiving 90% of the funds so we should be jumping up and down with joy. Oh, by the way, we will also be talking away the gas tax funds you receive and directing them south.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
^I have no idea. And as I stated in a previous post it is clear it will have eight floors and probably retain the same footprint. The only point I was making was that what was presented in the proposal (and what many were freaking out about) is not the final design but just a computer imagine that was put together (probably rather quickly) to include in the presentation to the county. I am looking forward to seeing what they will do but like many others not expecting something that dramatic. Would love the old Westlake design.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
^Huh? I think you might be mis-reading my post. The building there is clearly going to be demolition per the proposal. I was just indicating that the building presented in the proposal is probably not the final design (or even close to it). I was just suggesting that they took a photo of what was there and did some computer imaging simply so it could be included in the proposal and that it will still be some time before we see what will actually be on the corner.
