  1. ^Yes I would definitely mar Euclid with new surface parking for 3-5 years (which of course will turn into 5-10 years).
  2. ^If that was the case why didn't the Maloff's agree to sell it last year to Gilbert when they were approached to make it part of the "welcome center" garage and instead fought with their partner in the building (who did want to sell to Gilbert). Don't tell me that they were holding out for more money 'cause Gilbert was throwing around $$$ last year for property like there was no tomorrow.

Wow...I had absolutely no idea. For what ever reason, if you had asked me before reading this I would have told you that Cairo was a booming river town in a prime location. Thanks for the effort and education.
  4. How were the Maloof's making money on a building that has been vacant for ages?
  5. ^Really? I don't see it.
  6. I know nothing about the engineering of the building or parking garages in general for that matter, but it does seem strange to me that the floor plates can handle such a usage.
  7. ^Hey its Cleveland...could be April "snow" showers.
  8. ^I like L'albatross but have to agree they have server issues. Once it was a major problem. Was not approached for twenty minutes after being seated.
  9. Interesting late night hobby (I'm more into watching HGTV late at night and screaming at the TV...no that room is not too small). Obviously you are more of a shop-a-holic than I am but I can really only think of 5-6 national chains we don't have than I personally would like to see (and shop at) and two of them are department stores (Bloomingdales and Neimans). For me a Burberrys would also be great. I could take or leave a Tiffany's and I would definitely never step foot in an IKEA. Also have no interest in chain restaurants, even highly rated upscale types, as I usually eat at local independents.
  10. ^^^^I was in a Wegman's in Buffalo a few years back and was blown away. Would love to see one in Cleveland but I can see why it is not likely.
  11. ^Boy am I behind the times...when did Waterstreet close? If I recall it always did a good lunch business for being a bit out of the way (at least in my days going there which admittedly was 5-6 years ago). I would imagine this will be a good space once the E and W building opens up. Somebody should snap it up.
  12. ^If I recall the LOT 45 requests for proposal are in and they got three. I think they are NPR Group, Coral and Snavely (might be wrong with the third). They have been in hand for a few months now.
  13. Is it possible it could be the second busiest station after downtown? With the relocation I could see many more west side employees of UH using the red line than currently do. The way the whole UH complex is situated, with connecting buildings, an employee will only be a block a way from an entrance to the whole complex (even if you work in Lakeside or Rainbow on Adelbert it will be an inside walk to your job). Right now, the University Circle station, and of course E 120, are not that convenient to UH (a lot longer walk outside). In addition, you will off course get more Little Italy traffic, and I also think that station is more convenient to all the museums than the current stations. I think this is the case for a large portion of CWRU as well so maybe more employees there as well. The HealthLine will probably get you to more points downtown but if you are going to Public Square or the west side why not take the rapid. Don't forget the Lot 45 development as well. Yes it will be a very busy station and again, maybe the second busiest on the line.
  14. ^As I mentioned before the new FBI headquarters is in downtown Cleveland.
  15. ^Oh Oh...looks like we are going to being off topic fast.
  16. It is clear that the new (actually newish....probably more than a decade old) policy at the FBI is to locate regional offices in a place with a secure perimeter. Such a building in a downtown would obviously kill street life. About 10 years ago the FBI moved from the federal building in Cleveland (basically in the heart of downtown) to an office about 6 blocks away on the fringe of downtown. While still basically downtown and an easy walk from its old location, it is basically a fortress, but not a real problem since it is not in an active part of downtown.
  17. I understand from the Schofield thread that this building is the same developer as the Schofield and that work is being done on Truman and Security Federal in conjection with Schofield (and that per McCleveland the back lower floors of the Truman Bldg. will be parking for the Kimpton Hotel in the Schofield Building). However, does anybody know what if anything right now is suppose to go in to these buildings? Are the upper floors to be apartments or offices again?
  18. My guess...the old Rego's (it is a pretty new building) on Columbia near Detroit in Westlake (although it looks like it is a lot bigger than 33,000 square feet). Would easily serve upscale Westlake, Rocky River and Bay Village as it is in the center of those markets and it is right off of 90 for those coming from Lorain County looking for a Whole Foods experience. Could even serve more blue collar North Olmsted very easily since it appears that city is really underserved by grocery stores for such a huge market (ever see the business the Giant Eagle in that city does...I think it is the top selling GE in northeast Ohio).
  19. ^wow, the majic of Hollywood...instant new buildings.
  20. Is there any actual work being done on the building right now? With a suggested early 2013 opening that seems like a really short period of time to do so much work.
  21. ^Great news KJP although I don't know if you should be touting this as now Republican state legislatures will want to pass legislation to increase the highway speed limits to 110 mph in order to compete with trains.
  22. I know I am beating a dead horse, but when ever I see the term "welcome center" in association with this project I just want to offer the correct phrase which is "valet parking waiting area".
  23. ^so if that was the rationale, if the county did want to fill an office building it would seem to nix that concern.
  24. ^That may be true but it is like the license bureau...it is always packed with people who only go once every two years (at least the Verizon I currently go to is). It is a people magnet and hopefully those people will patronize the other stores when in the vicinity.

^This theory has actually been put forth by numerous public officials and since ODOT made the annoucement, including at least one conversative Republican (Gary Skulidonik (spelling)) who use to be the turnpike director.
