Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^Hey, I just glad the alledged lack of parking around CSU did not creep into the thread :-)

Cleveland Heights Part VII - Sup Triangle & Cumberland & May Lee & Forest Hills
This area of Cleveland Heights north of Mayfield is a hidden gem and not known to many Clevelanders outside of the Heights suburbs. I know I was completely clueless about the area until I moved to my first apartment in Shaker Heights and started going on the Cleveland Heights heritage tours.

CLEVELAND: What one "speculative" project would you like to see built?
^Nope...but I think that is 515 Euclid.

CLEVELAND: What one "speculative" project would you like to see built?
^See you already broke the rules  Should just pick one proposed lakefront design.

CLEVELAND: What one "speculative" project would you like to see built?
Just curious as to what proposed brick and mortar projects forumers think are important to Cleveland so... The question I am posing is.... pick one proposed but speculative project you would like to see built and explain why. For purposed of this question it should be a building or project which has already been proposed and may even have plans developed with actual renderings (or not). It should be a project that is not under construction and is having a hard time, or is stalled for one reason or another (most likely financing) and is not likely to come to fruition soon, or perhaps at all. For example, the new Westin would not qualify as, even though the project has not begun, odds are it will break ground in the next few months. The CSU Chester project would be another example as it looks as though that is a go shortly. No fair to make up your own grand project...has to be something that is "out there"...say for example Phase 2 of the East Bank or the Jacobs Group proposed building on Public Square. Also no fair to pick more than one...that's what makes this exercise "fun". My choice would be the Weston (do I have the right name) development proposed in the Warehouse District, which is basically the remnants of the Starks grand scheme. While the details have always been vague, I recall at least a strong mixed use element with possible retail near the core of the city. I am just so sick (as is everybody) of those parking lots in the heart of the city.

Cleveland Heights Part I - Coventry Village (and introduction)
^As Hts121 indicated in the introduction to the thread, it is an inner ring suburb. It borders Cleveland (just to the east of the city) including the University Circle and Little Italy neighoborhoods of Cleveland. Lots of Case Western (which is located in the University Circle neighborhood of Cleveland) students live in the "Heights" as it is an easy walk to campus. It is about 12-20 minutes from Public Square depending on whether you live in the western or easter part of the city.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Great...some news to discuss at last. When I first saw the post it hit me that this meant that a Westin was not going to go into the John Hartness Brown Buildings on the north side of Euclid as suggested a while back in that thread. Then I saw that the very extensive article (towards the end) indicates that Starwood is now talking to those developers about putting in a Le Meridian brand instead, of which there are only 7 in the US. While still in the talking stage this could be double good news.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
From the statement it appears they consider E 116th front yard, maybe because a drive and parking abuts this street. In any event I am sure we can all agree this is Circle Vista....are we just beating a dead horse due to a lack of fun stuff to discuss (you know like a new 50 story building on Public Square)(by the way this is my lame attempt at humor...let's not go on for three pages now about some proposed 50 story building on PS).

Sears / Kmart News
Hts I agree with you that Sears one of the last companies we should be trying to entice with a major incentives package. Such $$$ could be better spent on more viable companies or other business initiatives. Also I agree with posts above that Sears is just jacking the state of Illinois around and playing "the game ", just like American Greetings did with Ohio.

Ohio: Minimum Wage News & Info
I have a business in an industry in which minimum wage employees are quite common. However, I do not have even one employee even close to minimum wage, as I cannot find competent employees that will work for that amount even in this economy. I sure wish I knew where you guys find these people.

SB5 Bill and Repeal News
Let's face it SB5 is simply sugared coated union busting. The Republicans just saw a new "marketing ploy" with the current economy to attempt their age old tatic of attacking organized labor any way they can (please can anybody deny with a straight face that the Republicans nation wide have opposed labor at every turn for the past 100 years). It is amazing they can say half the stuff they do with a straight face. Be a man and just say we hate unions.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
When I read KJP's post I thought it was Circle Vista...can't see how it can be anything else. Clearly more on East 115th than actually on the northeast corner of Euclid and E. 115th as suggested in his post.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Alesci's Downtown (on Huron Road) has a new owner as of this past Sunday. The new owner (Jeff Burson) has worked there since it opened (I guess about 15 years ago) and pretty much ran the place so it won't change much (same food...maybe an expansion of some items). A little cosmetic fix up is in the offering as well over the next few months. The new name will be "Huron Point Tavern". Hours will expand a bit. They usually closed about 3:00 PM unless there was an event at the Q or Progressive Field. They are now talking about being open regularly later on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, even without an event, and see how it goes. Jeff is a great guy and very friendly. If you live or work in the area he could use the support as he is another one of the good guys investing in downtown.

MH...do you know if the Case student center is close to breaking ground?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
The only building (rendering) I recall was that thing that looked similar to One Cleveland Center that was proposed in 2008 (you can see a picture of it on page 11 of this thread). Also at that time we of course went on for pages debating the super tall issue. Surprised it only took 3 years for somebody to resurrect this discussion...I am sure it will go on for a few pages as it did in 2008...the only thing that will not go is a new building on this plot for the foreseeable future, and I imagine everybody on this board knows the reasons why.

Where, if any where, did the Greek Express go? At one time I use to eat there a couple of times a week.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I recall this being briefly discussed a while back with despair. I would at least hope that UH made them build to the sidewalk mimicking what was there, but since they are so desperate for any type of development I doubt they pressed the matter (or if anybody at the city has the sophistication to demand such a design in the first place)

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
^I was wondering about the status. Great to hear. Wonder if they are planning to open before the Christmas-New Year rush? That is a tough time to be training a new staff....still Zack and his people have so much expeience it might be walk in the park for them.

Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
So are there any playhouse square developments?

^Gee I don't know...very interesting article...but I think your post is going to encourage a couple of pages of speculation not nip it in the bud.

Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Anybody have any new inside information on Lot 45 (even a morsel....seems like "actual news" on the board has been slow lately, and all we do is argue about parking)? I believe RFP's were due August 19, 2011.
