why does grove city get flak?
  2. Agree this was a horrible situation and should be addressed. My only thought, as it relates to the driver (and I am not sure about this), is that she had no option to use the second car even if she wanted to. I would imagine (although again I am not sure) that the car could not be used without a conductor on board (not to drive it but for safety reasons...of course sorta ironic in this instance).
  3. The problem with you KJP is that you make too much sense. That is not going to get you very far with this group which has a particular world view and certainly don't want to be told they are wrong.

Quite frankly (and I thought this was going to be the case), at least in Greater Cleveland, this storm has not been the end of the world as predicted since Sunday (you know how the media, especially the weather, people have to justify their existence). Apparently it was worse elsewhere but I can count 5-6 storms during the past year which were much worse here and more troublesome. I had no trouble travelling the past two day and I drive quite far. I am more concerned by a lot of standing water I see, which I fear is going to freeze and cause problems given that the temps are to fall.
  5. ^Tend to agree with that...in fact I could envision a scenario where, once the main casino on Huron is built, the "Higbee wing" is marketed as an upscale casino club for those who want to gamble but don't want to mingle with the little old ladies in tennis shoes and those hunting out the all you can eat $4.99 buffet.
  6. ^there already is a reading garden between the two library buildings.
  7. Crain's reports that, while it is only in the "talking" stage, Jacobs Group is developing plans to build an outlet store center in Avon on the 200 acres of property it owns. The article does admit that the Avon hardly needs "more" retail but then goes on to quote various experts who reflect that this is a great idea on Jacobs part for a variety of reasons. Again there is nothing concrete at this point (the mayor of Avon did not even know about it) but "sources" indicate that they are working on it. I wish Jacobs Group's creative minds would spend more time coming up with a workable solution for its Public Square property which has been a parking lot for 20 years now. I guess it is easier (by the way, nothing good was ever easy) to work with virgin land in the suburbs and reproduce a "shopping village" which has been done so many times my 13 year newphew could develop it.
  8. Punch, are you suggesting that we are going round and round discussing the same points time and time again. Never on this board. How dare you :-D
  9. Where is the 310,000 sq foot figure coming from? According to the website the Mart will be 235,000 sq feet and the Convention Center is 230,000 for a total of 465,000.
  10. I do recall reading that the Improv is moving next to Shooters.
  11. Some random thoughts on the Crain's article: 1. Wow...George Maloof is still alive. 2. Of all people, the Stafford brothers made almost 5 mil. on the deal...this leads me to question whether there really is a God. 3. I cannot believe the city will allow such a huge block of buildings to be torn down for surface parking...especially the former Dyke Building which I believe was renovated maybe 10-12 years ago. Maybe if they are thinking of a parking garage, mixed use project (retail and housing), they won't get a big fight, but that does not seem to be Frango's style. We will have to wait and see.
  12. Hmmm...I don't like the sound of any of this but I cannot imagine the hops they would have to go through to tear down these buildings for parking...I would like Yablonsky's thoughts on the transcation.
  13. Willard has not been demo'd. Just the "Justice Center Parking" (self titled) garage at the intersection of St. Clair and Ontario. It has been suggested to demo Willard (by some firm...cannot recall which) as part of the possible re-greening of all downtown but right now this is just pie in the sky.
  14. It is hard to rate anything 4 stars that ugly
  15. ^^I read the article, and while it is pure speculation on my part, I got the feeling that there was more to it than an average joe being kidnapped from his driveway.
  16. I just glanced at it and it is very much out of date.
  17. I drive by every day. I for one would be very surprised if it opens in March given the work which appears still needs to be completed.
  18. Obviously you have to take all comments with a grain a salt in such forums but I found this one interesting: "Jeff Haynes is a suburban retail developer who is a small fry against the world of multi-national healthcare companies".
  19. Does the Nashville site have a comment section and do people in that town make comments similar to those found on Cleveland.com, or at least express very rational and obvious points like that made by Firenze98.
  20. ^Does the City Club archive its webcasts?
  21. I was actually wondering the same thing as I drove by recently. Anybody?
  22. ^Quite frankly I would prefer local retailers downtown like Dredgers Union over Crocker Park national chains. That is not to say that there are not certain national retailers that I would not like downtown but that is not in the cards in the near future for about 22 different reasons.
  23. we are getting a new convention center which (after 20 years of talking) would not have happen without the "cover" of the medical mart (justifying the quarter percent sales tax without a public vote).
  24. Yes because RTA has all this money it does not know what to do with.
