Have you checked out the Osborne Building at E. 9th and Huron. Looks like one bedrooms run from 725 to 800. You can google and get a website with prices and pics.
  2. I really don't see the "chain link fence issue" reflected in those photos. All I see is the fence on Prospect over the inter-belt bridge which is in generally good condition and the temporary consturction fence around the project. While I don't disagree there is much poorly maintained fencing throughout the city (of course not a big fan of chain link in the first place but it does serve its purpose in regards to security) I don't see this as much different than other American cities, especially in the inner city.
  3. ^^56 West has one of the best beef burgers in town in my opinion. I know one of my employees gets the veggie burger and has never complained. In the past service has been an issue (both in house and take out) but it has been a while for me so maybe that has imporved
  4. ^bookstore won't be demoed until the student center is completed and it can move in there.
  5. Well they shoot dogs in Westlake...is that normal.
  6. As far as parking goes...parking on a side street and walking a few blocks is already how it has been in Cleveland Hts forever around most commercial strips. Cannot see why Melt will be any different.
  7. I pretty much agree with the comments about the siding. I drive within feet of it every day and cannot believe how bad it looks on some really uninspiring buildings in the first place. My question is how did this get past design review?
  8. Welcome Aware of any renderings for the lab?
  9. ^Yes it did...it is now a "pretty" surface parking lot (you should how hard the contractor is working trying to gussy it up) Maybe you were thinking of the building across the street where Seglin's is, and Potter and Mellon was, located.
  10. I cannot wait until MTS sees this

^Somewhat missed the point of my post...not trying to send a message about casinos or gambling or for that matter the original casino issue passed in November (even though I did not approve of the ballot measure and how it was formulated as I mentioned)...trying to send a message to the good old boys that they should not treat the Ohio Constitution, no matter what the issue is, like the Hooterville municipal code. Quite frankly, I am only one vote, and certainly nobody will know why I am voting no, but like always I will vote my conscious.

I voted against the casinos for a variety of reasons...a very strong reason was I thought this was the wrong way to go about bringing them in and more "government imput" was necessary to get the best deal (similar to PA)...at this point I am resigned to them and simply hope we get a stellar building in downtown Cleveland with at least a little ancillary development. However, sorry Columbus, I am voting against Issue 2, even though it does not directly affect me, because I don't like how people are playing fast and loose with the Constitution...my hope is that its defeat with at least be a lesson to SOMEBODY (yeah, really have high hopes for that one). Just curious how many other's outside of Columbus are thinking the same way.
  13. ^I lived in Bridgeview on the St. Clair side right at street level. Those motorcycles racing up the St. Clair hill were always a joy. Especially at 2 in the morning. The warehouse district is safe and where I would go if I were 21.
  14. ^Very thoughtful post.
  15. Will he have a car? If he doesn't downtown (ten minutes away) would be a good bet as an easy commute by bus (in fact, a 21 year old kid...I would do downtown even if I had a car...your are right about the Hts...a slightly difficult commute to Cuy Hts.) I would imagine a 12 week lease might be hard to come by, although who knows in these economic times. I know many of the large law firms find short term leases for their out of town summer assoicates and they might have some leads (I would call an office manager at one of the big firms and see if they have leads...I would imagine they would be helpful...at least I hope so). Short term corporate housing may be an idea, but possibly expensive. I don't know if this is still the case but a number of years ago a corporate housing firm rented units in the Grand Arcade in the Warehouse District and then sub-leased them for short term corporate housing (W. 6th and St. Clair). This would be a great place to be for a 21 year old. I would imagine that housing firms still do this in other buildings if not the Grand Arcade. Again may be expensive since they usually rent to those on an expense account but the digs would probably be pretty well kept and may offer a cleaning service.
  16. ^I am guessing because they are the same owners so people are trying to give us some idea of what they are thinking about in Cincy, to see if it is a similar vision or philosphy in Cleveland.
  17. Has anyone given any thought to the idea that having basketball courts (of all things) at that particular spot would be kinda tacky (and nothing against basketball...but turning what is suppose to be Cleveland's living room into a run of the mill play ground...this has national laughing stock written all over it).
  18. Clearly some people have way too much time on their hands.
  19. ^You misunderstood my post. I was taking about when Gilbert very publicly pushed for and supported FC for the Tower City site when (and I think blindly and with self interest, ignoring many relevant facts) the commissioners were deciding between TC and the Mall.
  20. ^^^I find this halarious...of course I have no idea what the negotiations are like and maybe it is true that they are complicated because of the nature of the parcels as stated in the article....but could it be that Forest City is sticking it to Gilbert. Maybe he is getting a taste of what the Med Mart people were dealing with last year when he blindly threw his weight behind FC for a Tower City site.
  21. ^I don't know about this. I for one love scoping out things at a newstand and for years was a regular at Erieview on East Sixth Street...however, it is clear now that people are buying less newspapers and magazines and it seems like almost a monthly event that a long standing magazine goes out of business. I don't blame somebody for not risking his capital to open such a venture. I sure would not do it with my hard earn cash, especially is the current environment.
  22. ^That wasn't my point. I am sure RTA is doing a fine job messing the ticket machines up on their own, and you"re probably right, $ is not the issue. My point was, we should not be comparing our transit system (or be embarrassed by what these guys think) to a system that is probably the nicest in the US due mostly to the fact the government, again, spent BILLIONS on it.
  23. ^Maybe the federal government could give Cleveland the BILLIONS it gave DC to build it's subway system and things will run a bit smoother.
  24. I noticed driving down downtown today that it appears the Clinic is beginning the demolition of the EE Building. Previous discussion indicated that some sort of lab is to go here. Since demo is starting does anybody know if a rendering is floating out there? This could be a key intersection on the campus someday since three out of four corners is now surface parking. This could and should be the beginning of the Clinic inplementing a plan with some better architecture as promised by Cosgrove.
