LOL. The mayor of Brookpark, in recent news articles, has denied knowing absolutely anything

For what it's worth, the final product looks better than the rendering, but it is no Swing Hall.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
That is probably all for the best. I hate it when a developer pops the cork in the infancy of a project, especially when financing is not a sure thing, and then we wait 2-4 years for shovels in the ground (if ever), constantly inquiring into the status and usually not getting good answers.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Are you suggesting they are closing on the financing just for the hotel portion or the entire Erieview project? It's been surprising to me that development group has not been before council yet this year to sew up the second prong of the requested TIF which they have said is a vital component in order to reach the finish line. It was way back in October '23 that legislation was passed for the first prong of the TIF.

Thank you but still cannot read it.

Crains just posted an article on line about the Haslams and the "blueprint" they are following for the Browns stadium. Hopefully somebody on the forum can summarize the article for us. I am still being blocked from reading articles despite my Library membership which usually lets me read articles for free.

I think your idea is great. It is just that the city moves at two speeds when it comes to development. Slow and stop.

I think you are putting a lot of faith in a city government that cannot even properly maintain a children's wading pool.

I am not one who usually frets over such things as I am in the camp that believes retail districts like this usually eventually recover given time, but I am starting to feel like Coventry is in real trouble. Unfortunately I don't believe the city has the capabilities or resources to dive in come up with a fix, whatever that might be. We might just have to rely on market forces and that could mean a long road ahead.

Cleveland Heights: Development and News
This is just more evidence of a systemic failure years in the making. The garage (actually garages...none of them look that great), the pool, the ice rink among other city facilities. It is not until they hit the point of no return that the city acts, resulting in irate citizens (just watch a council meeting on line) and higher costs to completely redo the facility, if that is even possible. In this instance the city might not have the money to replace the poorly maintained garage and will simply turn it into surface parking, resulting in less parking spaces in an area where parking is often a nightmare. I hope the newish mayor finally realizes that this is a bigger issue than just one city facility and takes steps to correct the culture at city hall. This is not going to be easy.

Probably because they barely have any reporters working for them any more. At least experienced reporters.

There is an online article in Crains today. Just saw the headline. For some strange reason, the past few days I have been unable to read the articles, like usual, through my Cuyahoga County library membership so I don't know what it states.

I have always wondered this but have never seen it brought up as an option on the forum or anywhere else. Can't a stadium fit on the Lakefront Muny lot? Is it too tight. It doesn't seem so to me but I have to admit it is not like I hang out there. And please don't say it is impossible because of all the tailgaters.

Pretty impressive @KJP. Look what you have wrought. In addition to the above, and the Brown statement, lots of local media are all of a sudden reporting the alleged sale. Unfortunately, just a bunch of doublespeak from the city. I mean what exactly are they trying to convey other than slapping themselves on the back.

I really don't think that your scoop is that far out there. The entire time I was reading Ken's article I was thinking that this purchase was for another venture-just a gut feeling-not based on anything other that the Haslams are business people with their fingers in a lot of pies. Also flush with cash now due to their recent sale. I am certainly no expert, but might even be a tax move.

Nothing against Brookpark but I really cannot think of a more depressing (and noisy) spot to put a stadium complex, no matter how elaborate, and no matter how many ancillary attractions are built around it. Second, how many major "entertainment districts" can NE Ohio support? Haslam is already planning another one in Berea. Supposedly the Indians and Cavs want one downtown next to the ballpark and arena, and the Riverview project will encompass another, not to mention all the mini "gathering spots" already in existence in Cuyahoga county (E 4th, the Flats, an expanding W 25th, Pinecrest, Crocker Park- just to name a few) We are not LA with the population and the tourists. Overbuilding will just result in the failure of one or more. Third, as suggested above, if this is the spot Haslam wants, it is a 2 billion dollar complex that he is going to have to build with his own money. Brookpark certainly cannot offer anything major and I cannot imagine the county having the capacity or desire to offer much either on the Lakefront and especially not on this site as they would not want to piss off Cleveland officials by supporting it. Maybe a little (and believe me it will just be a little) from the state of Ohio. If the Haslams can afford to do it on their own, why are the negotiations with the city so contentious? It is going to be interesting to see how the city and other media outlets respond and report Ken's scoop.

Cleveland: Duck Island: Development and News
Do you actually respond to these individuals with such rational comments. I can understand if you don't even bother as it certainly won't change their minds when they are so far out there, but it might help with the "sane" lurkers on your thread. Every little bit helps.

Wasn't funding for the bridge/lakefront proposed in past legislation and then it was deleted? I don't get too excited about such things unless the bill actually passes, especially when it comes to the the legislature giving anything to Cleveland.

I guess you really cannot classify your neighbors as NIMBYS since you are so far away from this project. What seems to be the problem? Anti luxury homes no matter where they are?

Good question. I have been wondering the same thing. This is one of a fair number of projects that received final approval from PC a long time ago but still have not broken ground.

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Yes very strange but I think the idea behind it is to let natural light into the bathroom and help diffuse steam build up when you are alone. This might be stereotyping on my part, but I always thought people who have studios are not big into home entertaining given the space is usually smaller and the bed often takes center stage in the unit. It is their alone space mainly for sleeping and showering and life is lived out side in the city.

Wouldn't parking surveys be done in the normal course of planning for the bikeway? I mean it has been a hell of a long process to date.

Sign. I am "looking forward" to seeing my IRA drop about 1.5% today. It kills me how great economic news like this destroys my retirement savings.
