I have a good friend who lives in Buffalo and have visited about 3 times in the past 8 years. I have not problem with it. Some great neighborhoods and the people are very friendly. Good food. However, a very telling story...Last time I was there I was at a dinner party with 4 other couples...all professionals, upper middle class...very educated, good incomes and very interesting. Between the 4 couples they had 15 kids...all had graduated college (recently and as long as maybe 10 years earlier)...most had gone to good schools including a couple of Ivys. Not one of the 15 had returned to Buffalo after graduating. I know we talk about "brain drain" here in Cleveland, but I personally am not aware of something that drastic. I was very surprised but the couples said their kids had little interesting in returning even though they seemed generally close to their families (visited often etc)

While I have never been to Texas, from the pics it seems Fort Worth has so much more going for it than Dallas. Interesting since they are right next door to one another.
  6. ^"Madhouse"...hey buddy are you living in the 19th Century.
  7. ^Not a rant...very thoughtful.
  8. This is not adding much to the debate or topic, but I have never been in a Wal Mart in my entire life which many people find remarkable. I have been in a Sams Club a couple of times, or as I like to call it "Unattractive People World".
  9. First I have seen of the interiors and they look great. What I have always liked about this building from the first time I viewed the models a few years ago is the way it looks as though it is an old building that was added on to over the years (with the different wings and such).

^Maybe you should invest in the project and things will speed up. It is always so easy to spend other people's $$$.
  11. Any word if the design of the dorms has changed or improved? If I recall the renderings when the project was first announced, they were pretty bland and there was a fair amount of criticism on this board.

Where did this whole "Ohio State-Michigan" rivalry as a rationale for this thread materialize? Ink makes no mention of it and while I don't know his team loyalties I do believe he goes to Miami and not OSU. And like mentioned above, he has done similar parody threads in the past, including sites in Ohio.
  13. I have not been to Detroit (other than the suburbs) for quite some time but it appears that they have been leveling the city for decades. I can recall riding a bus in 1981 from downtown Detroit out to Dearborn that went down (I believe) Michigan Avenue. Even then I was truly shocked by the landscape on either side of the street. It looked like a prairie. While I did not mention a thing to my host in Dearborn, he was somewhat embarrassed by the sights he knew I had viewed on the ride out to his house.

Based on your criteria, the first neighborhood that came to mind was the Edgewater-Clifton area. You should be able to find house to rent.
  15. ^Do you mean lola's. Bar Symon is in Avon.
  16. ^I don't think Yokosuka 1985 needs a lot of "defending". If you review all of his posts on various threads, like MayDay suggests, there is a clear tinge of racism.
  17. I vacation in South Carolina regularly and have read a number of articles about how poor their schools are. My brother was thinking of moving down there and my sister in law did some research about education funding in South Carolina and college attendance and was very discouraged.
  18. ^Have to agree with all of the above (especially liked the patio) except we had service issues when we went (and I ain't that picky). Food was super as was the cocktail I had. The service thing could have been a one time event and I will definitely go back again and again.
  19. ^If you read all of this guy's (or gals) posts on this board it is clear that he does not.
  20. "THE SOUTH HAS BETTER SCHOOLS"?????????....Care to back that up with some stats?
  21. Well I know everybody is going to chuckle given the problems in the City of Cleveland Building Department, but don't they need to do a final inspection in order to issue an occupancy permit. Would not mold and water damage as extensive as described in the post come to light during such an inspection?
  22. ^I am pretty sure you can.
  23. ^you don't have to pay for parking at the downtown Y and it is a very nice facility although not cheap.
  24. ^Now I am really confused.
  25. ^I would certainly like to know which developers and tech firms have been looking to do something in midtown. Could you be specific and also let us know how serious each developer was and what obstacles prevented them from going forward (other than the credit crunch).
