  1. So I guess my question is...is the arts center a go anytime in the near future if they are tearing down Corlett. Have not heard much about it lately.
  2. Sorry for taking this post slightly off topic, but lately, especially in the relocation threads, I keep seeing the question "is this bus safe". Has there all of a sudden been a mad outbreak of murders, robberies and and rapes on RTA buses and gangs boarding the buses when they go through sketching neighborhoods, of which I am unaware or which is not being reported in the media. I no longer ride RTA but did so for years, both the rapid and buses, and went through some of Clevelands worst neighborhoods, and I never felt unsafe or had a concern.

Great pics. Was hoping for some shots of the incredible houses (massive Victorians) on Summit and I believe Grand. Super city.
  4. Wow, I was wondering when this was going to FINALLY happen...and it looks like only a baby step at that. Glad to see that some progress is being made...as usual looks like $$$ was and is the big hold up. Welcome to America.
  5. In all this planning has there been any in depth discussions as to where the $$$ is going to come from for the public sector improvements once the port does move? Maybe this has been gone over above but I don't recall, other than possible funding sources for the port relocation.
  6. ^Apparently KJP's lengthy, thoughtful and rational post did not register very well with you. By the way... private sector, sense of urgency...please.
  7. ^Unless somebody has a lot of $$$ that parking lot is going to be there for a long time. The mistake was made years ago to allow the demolition of the Hipp.
  8. I may be confused but isn't CSU suppose to build something on top of the transit center some day. Like a field house type building and some sort of housing or hotel. Does not look like this is possible given the posted rendering. Also, the expanded PD print article says the transit center is 2,000 square feet. My house is that big. Is this just poor editing or are they referring to just a certain portion of it, say the waiting area where all the art will be?
  9. Hopefully more new street scrape projects in Cleveland will plant trees similar to the trees they planted in the redevelopment of the Coventry business district a few years ago. They seem to grow like weeds and are really full. Excuse my ignorance as to type.
  10. I have no concern given what I have read.
  11. How is it over a year away? I count 6-7 months per McCleveland (above) who is usually in the know.
  12. ^I am not familiar with the company. What does Cardinal Health manufacture or distribute?

If you do decide on downtown, I belonged to the downtown Y for more than 7 years and really enjoyed it. Nice facility and it of course offers weight training and spinning. I would imagine yoga classes but not sure. About a ten minute walk from E. 4th Street. A little longer from the Warehouse District.
  14. I would guess both Trader Joe's (Crocker and Eton) are at least 20,000 square feet if not larger.
  15. ^How are they in anyway related?
  16. As suggested, I am sure there were many factors which torpedoed the project, but I have never been a big fan of Gus Frangos.
  17. Palijandro, obviously you are not grasping my point so I will simply apologize to you for that. It must be that I cannot articulate very well. So much for seven years of higher education.
  18. ^I guess I am a little confused by your post. Nothing above suggests this is anything more than shifting of space from one downtown location to another, although sometimes due to firms out growing current space. I have heard nothing about firms coming from the suburbs or out of town for this project. Does somebody know something concrete?
  19. Palijandro I thought my point was pretty clear and echoed by other posters. This was a horrible random event committed by a not too bright criminal (given the facts as reported) that could have happen anywhere including an area that is "perceived" as safe.
  20. After reading the details of the unfortunate crime including the time (nuts) place, nature and background of the alledged assailant I concluded this is the type of crime that could happen anywhere, including someplace like Westlake...in fact it did last year at Crocker Park. I certainly do not feel unsafe in that area and never have.
  21. Well I guess if you can afford a lawyer you can afford a sign.
  22. Question? Is that space big enough to hold a quality aquarium? I would like to see plans.
  23. This is pure rumor but I thought it would be fun to post...was talking to a staff member of a business currently renting space above Johnny's....their office has heard that this project will be breaking ground next spring and that the developer is trying to persuade the owners of Johnny's to move their restaurant across the street into a hotel planned for the site...again pure rumor and even if true they are probably still in the "wish" stage but at least it looks as though people are talking.
  24. I know I am going to get a lot of sh%$#t from the younguns on this board but quite frankly I don't think surveys like this carry much practical weight because what college students want, or think is out there, and what real life is like are two different things. In other words, the survey participants are people with little life experience. I graduated with a law degree in the early 80's in the middle of recession almost as bad as this. Went to college and law school in Ohio. Had absolutely no intention of staying in the state and told everybody I knew that. I wanted to live in a much bigger city than Cleveland. Very keen to live in Chicago or DC and looked hard for jobs there. In fact lived in DC for 5 months sleeping on a college friends floor looking for job. No luck and came back to Cleveland, found my first job, and have always lived here. Looking back on it I realize I just had stars in my eyes. It simply made more sense to stay put and I could not believe what an idiot I was thinking that life would be the same in a strange city without my family and long time friends (hey dad, my toilet is on the blink, can you come and check it out...just one example of many...life is just easier with friends and family around but you don't appreciate things like that at a young age). Anyway, surveys like this make me very suspicious given a couple of decades of real life.
