Does Ohio have the worst ex-pats?
No and in my experience it is the complete opposite of what is being stated above. By the way, Drew Carey still owns a house in Cleveland and is often here. I could give you many more examples (both celebs and us common folk). Simply disagree with the general tone of this thread.

Downtown Cleveland
Boy, do I feel old when I see posters asking who Herb Strawbridge is. In addition to being the president of Higbees he was a catalyst for the early redevelopment of the flats. I think, among other things, he had is hands in the redevelopment of the Western Reserve Building at the corner of W9th and Superior. By the way, RTA is right next door to the Bradley Building. They are connected and look similar. They did a very good rehab of the building about 10 years ago.

Cleveland: Perk Park Renovation
This is great news and I am really looking forward to the renderings. My only questions is will the PD be able to resist mentioning in every article in the next year or so about the progress with the park about the shooting a few months ago...you know "beautiful new trees were installed in the soon to be completed Perk Park only feet away from..." you know the rest.

Cleveland: Opportunity Corridor Boulevard
Isn't the road suppose to run within blocks of the red line for most of the distance?

Where was this picture taken from CLEVELAND
I would guess Edgewater

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
^excellent points

Columbus: Huntington Park (Clippers ballpark)
Hate to say it, but in comparison to many other new minor league parks it is only "OK". Base on the pics provided in another thread, they did a much better job with the new minor league park in Fort Wayne.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Cipermann wants "more debate" about the site. They have been debating the convention center site for 10 years. More debate means I don't agree with the decision to place it on the mall. When they decide to place it where I want it then the debate can end. I never agreed in the past with the posters who made dire predictions that the Mart people were going to abandon the project because of all this nonsense but I am starting to be a believer. What kills me about these articles is the stupid, ill informed comments these "people in power" make which the generally ill informed public is suppose to take as gospel. I won't even get into the clear agenda and campaign the Plain Dealer is running.

Akron: UA Infocision Stadium
Clearly this will be the best stadium in the MAC

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^Well then I guess we can just criticize him for being wrong and ill informed...especially the part about being underground. An underground convention center is ideal as the buildings usually look like warehouses and sap life from the streets they border with massive blank walls and the like...and once you are inside one you usually feel as if you are underground anyway.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^My statement is neither absurd or ridiculous. The practice facility belongs downtown (in my opinion...I see you disagree but I refrain from name calling) and it was a great opportunity which was missed.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^First, this forum is nothing like Cleveland.com because MOST people on this board actually care about the city. Second, Gilbert deserves criticism because he is cloaking his own self interesting in terms of what is allegedly best for the city (and at the last minute). He lacks total credibility in my mind.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I am glad to see that Gilbert is all of a sudden so interested in downtown development. It seems to me somewhat strange given the fact that when he had the opportunity to build a state of the art practice facility on a dreary surface parking lot RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE Q (by the way I hate that nickname but I digress) he choose instead to plop it in a field in the suburbs.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
"Whoever" owns that property has been trying to "develop" it for years. In the past has even gone as far as to put up a fancy sign with a rendering. Was actually approached by the guy informally a couple of years ago to locate my business there.

MAC: General Conference News & Discussion
GO SKINS!!! (That just tells you how old and politically incorrect I am)

Cleveland: Downtown: Technology Center
^Hate to say it but I agree with you.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
^^Don't personally know what is going on but I drove by on the Shoreway the other day and the banner you mention touts "Precision Environmental". I am just guessing, but that is probably an asbestos abatement firm. Removal of asbestos would have to occur either for a rehab or demolition.

Cuyahoga County: Corruption Probe
^^Or it can just be a fishing expidention. Only time will tell. Actually I am getting a little bored with major headlines regarding something as simple and routine as the issuance of a subpoena.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^There is so much hyperbole in that article I don't know where to begin.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
^You have got to be kidding. The PD has not gone after these guys? Where have you been the past year. And the manner in which they have done it is so sophomoric that it blinds the public to legitimate concerns and issues we should have with the Board. They are clearly biased when it comes to the Board and lack any credibility, as far as I am concerned, when they go on the attack given the manner in which they do it.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Well if FCE has posters all over Tower City promoting the TC site for the convention center the pro mall people don't have much to worry about because nobody will see them. :-D

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I am not up on this but does Sam Miller really have that much to do with the day to day running of the company? He has got to be a zillion years old. I thought it was one of the Ratners.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
^Don't quite understand what the Forest City Board has to do with this. Do you mean the CSU Board on which Sam Miller sits?
-
Cleveland: Cleveland Institute of Art Expansion
I hate to disappoint you guys but if they are breaking ground in May the design is pretty much in the bag. At this point I would imagine that the plans and specifications are already in the hands of the first tier of sub or prime contractors for pricing and bidding. To change at this point would not only cause delay but also increase the cost. I don't think this would go over very well with the Board of Trustees. Of course this forum is a perfect place to vent if you are not crazy about the design, but not much can be done at this point to actually change it, in my opinion, given what has bee reported above.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University: Development and News
Maybe it is time for Sam Miller to finally hang it up. Quite frankly, like the article suggests, most developers are sitting on their hands right now for obvious reasons. Partnering with a public entity with an almost guaranteed revenue stream is one of the few projects that seems to make sense right now. Maybe Sam is thinking that the way to go is to put up more bungalows in Parma since he was so good at that.
