  1. Not from me buddy. I am a proud Clevelander who loves dead street trees and poorly maintained landscaping on a major street. Won't see me whining about land owners or the city when something is unkept.
  2. And as an added bonus we will get a make over and narrowing of West 25th as it approaches Detroit which is much needed.
  3. Again with you 100%. I have opined on a number of occasions that this is a transformative project for Cleveland. It will help connect Ohio City with downtown, encourage further Riverfront development given its scale, add much needed parkland for downtown and OC residents and with foster tons more development in Ohio City.
  4. My guess is that none of this is for the park. Has the design of the park even begun? If it has I doubt it has reached a point where good cost estimates can be made. I was under the impression that while the stabilization plans are much further along and some preliminary work has actually started, even the engineering plans for that phase of the project still need some tweaking. I recall an article (or post) a year or so ago which stated that engineering design work would take about 18 months.
  5. I am in no way knowledgeable about trains but I have always wonder if, rather than the Lakeshore Limited, there was a daily train strictly between Cleveland and Chicago which left Cleveland at a reasonable time in the morning (8:00 or 9:00 am) and arrived back in Cleveland at a reasonable time in the evening (again 8 or 9) it would be profitable. I imagine there are many factors that would go into the equation rather than just passenger numbers and passenger revenue so I don't have a clue.
  6. Agree. That would be great. But my gut tells me that a nondescript bridge would be much cheaper. My gut also tells me that "cheaper" is very important to the company. Or should I say cost consciousness.
  7. All valid concerns and important that they are addressed. I will add to this "concern" list. I hope the inevitable bridge between the Weston lot where most of the parking will probably be and the Jacobs lot will have a lot of attention paid to it during design. Dare I hope for something iconic rather than some lipstick on a pig. Of course my preference would be for no bridge at all unless it is incorporated into some type of unique second floor retail and/or pedestrian experience.
  8. They only previously received schematic approval. They are on tomorrows Planning Commission agenda seeking final approval. Cannot say if this means a September ground breaking but they are moving forward.
  9. You have a point but that is not the issue really. Unfortunately people cannot control themselves and start getting pissy when discussing these tangential issues and often take offense when no offense was even meant an then they get pissy back and then the moderators get pissed and lock the thread, not because the discussion may not be relevant but because posters just cannot seem to moderate their comments for whatever reason. You have been on this forum long enough to understand what I am getting at and surely have witnessed this happen time and time again. Like @KJP mentioned, this thread has been locked a number of times because of this and we are left with no forum to discuss more relevant construction issues. Again my suggestion is to start a new thread where perhaps the moderators might allow a little more latitude when it comes to possible biting posts. Finally, while this topic might be somewhat related to construction it is my experience issues like this also tend to go off topic real fast and pretty soon we will be discussing the constitution and economic theories which are surely not related to the SHW project.
  10. As implied by @KJP, why don't you start a separate thread to talk about race issues and construction projects in the city so this one is not locked again (for what the third or fourth time)
  11. Having worked in an office environment for most of my life this seems like a no brainer to me.
  12. I remember. I remember. Don't forget the porn palace across the street on the southwest corner. Also, a few years before this pic I bought my first two "grown up" sport coats at Jay Vee which was on the same side of West Sixth as Capitol but more north. A traditional blue blazer for my senior year photo and a light pink "Johnny Carson". Oh the mistakes of our youth.
  13. Further evidence that they are just a small time developer and clearly do not have the resources to step to the next level, especially something challenging (even though they clearly want to).
  14. I agree with you 100% but did not have the balls to say such a wicked thing on the forum. You're my hero.?
  15. I like the skyscraper but not the pedestal, which I am assuming is a parking garage. As much as I don't want the parking garage to dominant the Weston lot (which I think is probably going to happen), I will settle for that as long as there is no parking on the Jacobs lot unless it is underground.
  16. Actually...I don't understand the original post of @roman totale XVII to which @Pugu was responding. Like @KJP indicates, from that part of First Energy Stadium you can see Erieview.
  17. Let's hope they are "quality" flips. So often that is not the case and an uneducated buying public (especially youngsters with no Uncle Joe in the trades) is taken in by shiny counter tops. In ten years the house is back on the down slide.
  18. ^Sounds like we are not going to see anything soon
  19. I had the wrong address for this project. It is a couple buildings north of where I thought. Looks like a pretty minor project. Building is in pretty bad shape and is in fact leaning. Not much historical interest except perhaps a tin ceiling on the first floor. Like most Little Italy buildings extensively altered over the years. Plans are for a new building continuing the street wall and just a bit higher (the first proposal had another story which was rejected). It will be a new restaurant with a party room on the second floor.
  20. I guess we will know tomorrow but maybe the new construction is only going where the single story section is and the parking lot.
  21. When I saw the agenda yesterday I was wondering what that new construction was at 12115 Mayfield. Have we viewed and/or discussed any proposal on this forum? I am also wondering whether the NIMBYS will have their knives out tomorrow at the meeting.
  22. I think @Dougal was actually referencing the podium garage which is incorporated into the Chester apartment building and not the mid block garage that you can see from E 105. Freddi Collier had some minor issues with the skin of the podium and questioned whether cars would be visible through it given the proposed materials. Later in the presentation Collier also has a few questions about the mid block garage and signage and future visibility from E 105, but that was a separate issue.
  23. I could never fill KJP shoes but I am going to push in and try to answer. The library plaza is going to be permanent. However, as I noted above it was mentioned in passing at Planning Commission that the plaza is not yet funded which I find strange because I thought it was part of the library design and a major component. I have to disagree with your take on the plaza. It seems as though it is suppose to operate as an outdoor gathering space for the library as well as an inviting entrance to the Library Loft apartments ( i think the main door to the apartments is off the plaza) and IF DONE CORRECTLY could be a great amenity similar to the Eastman Reading Garden downtown.
  24. I was "dragged" to Pinecrest yesterday and was surprised how busy it was. One level down from packed. I guess I have never been there on a Saturday before so I have nothing to compare it to. Maybe it was the great weather and it being Labor Day Weekend in combination with people still feeling a bit stir crazy.
