  1. Is that actually the plan. I cannot even imagine a small arena on Slant Walk.
  2. G whiz Ken. Between you and a couple other posters, there’s like 10 mystery projects out there. You guys are killing us.
  3. I’m pretty sure all of that is no more due to CSU’s financial condition.
  4. how about RTA talk about how to get people to University Circle and the Cleveland Clinic by rail 365 times a year instead to Brookpark 10 times a year,
  5. Given all of the above I wonder if anybody will show up on behalf of management. Keep us informed.
  6. Actually, wasn’t that the case with the first iteration.
  7. Actually, what this projected has demonstrated is that if you are a developer and don't have the ability to finance you project in the first place, don't throw your hat into the ring when faced with an RFP
  8. Definitely. May I suggest her punishment should be having to forego her cozy owner's box and require her to sit in the Dawg Pound at this Sunday's game against the Chiefs. High temp. is going to be a toasty 42 degrees although a good chance she will be rained on so she should forego wearing her mink coat.
  9. I imagine the firm buying has no right to access until the deal is finalized and the firm selling it doesn't give a damn, especially given all the problems it is having nationwide with its other properties and projects.
  10. Why would they even consider this. Would just be shooting themselves in the foot. They want people to drive there so they can charge $50 and up for parking. Isn't this really the whole point of leaving downtown in the first place, control of the parking.
  11. Will never happen. Huge surface lot. I know I am a broken record on this point but this whole joke makes my blood boil. I did not read the article but a poster above suggests it includes 500,000 sq feet of office space. This is just further proof it is a fantasy. If Jimmy wants to build Jimmy land and the stadium in this god awful place more power to him but not a penny of tax payer $$$.
  12. I was going to let it go, but I was thinking the same thing. I am no expert so certainly don't know what they can do to improve it. Just doesn't look right to me. Will be interesting to hear comments on Thursday.
  13. I am sure the building height conforms to the zoning for the site and is within yards of two buildings which are of similar height or taller, but what do you think the odds are that a certain Ms. Anderson is going to complain about the height.
  14. Just anecdotal, but I know of two people who moved out this past year, one to NYC and another to North Carolina. Opposite ends of the political spectrum as well so the "issues" seem to be affecting everybody. Of course a lot of others continue to flock in.
  15. Isn't it amazing that all three or four over one construction, if done right, doesn't have to look cheap. Somebody should send this to a certain Streetsboro developer.
  16. Well I am here to jump on the positivity bandwagon. Especially when it comes to Ohio City, Detroit Shoreway and Gordon Square. I was watching Planning Commission this morning and continue to be super impressed with Justin Strizzi and how his company is moving so quickly to help re-invent Detroit Shoreway. He was introducing the new Hermann Avenue project and I not only admired the project in terms of design and the thought that has gone into it, but also the wonderful presentation by Mr. Strizzi. Incredibly articulate, insightful and polished. He understood his audience and it was clear he had done his homework, including engaging with the neighborhood, which is key now a days. Bottom line. The next generation of developers-people like Justin Strizzi and Dan Whalen-clearly have what it takes to lead the city forward and the city should be doing everything it can to engage with and support these bright "youngsters"-says the old guy who can remember the bad old days of unfulfilled promises.
  17. I don't know what the actual stats are, but this type of insurance coverage is very expensive (although a very good idea if you can afford it) with high deductibles. Given restaurant margins, many tend to do without this coverage given the expense and they simple keep their fingers crossed. Large corporate chains probably have it but less likely when it comes to smaller independents. Also agree with you about the popularity of JaJa. Have only been there twice, but both times if was completely full, both on weeknights. Many friends have nothing but good things to say about it.
  18. Thank you for that. It’s incredible how the original very positive post about a long vacant and graffiti scarred building finally being renovated fostered so much mindless negativity.
  19. Didn’t Jaja’s elevator get smashed? I imagine getting the appropriate parts could be an issue.
  20. I was wondering when that was going to start. It was approved quite some time ago...maybe a year ago.
  21. Is that the case again. About 6 months ago I all of a sudden could not access Crain's through my library membership and when I inquired I was told the library no longer provided access electronically. I have not tried since I was told that.
  22. Thanks for responding. That is actually even more information than I was expecting.
  23. Can you at least offer an opinion as to whether, in your mind, these are "legit" developers proposing these two buildings. I have lived a long time in this town and I would need ten hands for all the necessary fingers if I were to count all the times developers trumpeted a stunning new project with fancy renderings which ended up all being pie in the sky. I know you cannot reveal much, but offering your thoughts on that question should not really spill the beans in anyway in terms of location, principals, size, design etc. To tell you the truth I am glad this is being kept under wraps. If they are still trying to get their ducks in order (with financing and cost containment probably being the two biggest nuts, especially in the current construction environment), I would prefer not to know rather than drool over wonderful renderings and then be disappointed again. More developers should follow this type of game plan, especially if they want to maintain credibility-well at least with Urban Ohio.
  24. Is everything described in the first paragraph of @markymark post on Scranton-Averill land? If yes it might take A LONG TIME for any of that to be developed. As we know the investors have owned the property for over 200 years and are very secretive and not particularly rational. Sort of like those property owners on Detroit who keep sitting on their land trying to secure above fair market prices.
  25. Wonder if she will stay on Landmarks.
