  1. Agreed. I assume the concerts are just a temporary thing until other plans come to fruition. There are other underutilized concert venues downtown that can accommodate these performances.
  2. There sure are a lot of underutilized parcels in that area as well as in other parts of downtown. I would love to see those developed before any towers are built on the lakefront.
  3. That voter approved subway in the 50s would have eliminated a lot of busses on Public Square and other downtown streets.
  4. They could use a little splash of color.
  5. The last time I was in Toronto was in the early 90s and it was getting pretty crazy then. I used to visit quite often in the late 70s and 80s and always enjoyed those visits, but the last one was not very enjoyable and I haven't been back.
  6. I compare the two because of an article a few years ago (maybe in the Cleveland PD) that compared the two cities. I believe the metro areas of Cleveland and Toronto were about the same 50 years ago. In the 70s, Toronto replaced Montreal as the commercial and financial capital of the nation. Here is a photo of Toronto from the 60s: Here is some more info: https://www.reddit.com/r/toronto/comments/i4se4k/1960s_toronto_skyline_looks_like_a_mediumsized/
  7. Hard to believe Cleveland and Toronto were very similar 50 years ago. Since then, one got their sh*t together, the other didn't.
  8. Toronto - the NYC of Canada.
  9. That looks like the former Boston Edison plant in South Boston. The site is going to be re-developed. https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/steam-rises-from-the-smokestacks-at-the-boston-edison-power-news-photo/1013405484 http://realestate.boston.com/new-developments/2021/01/25/edison-power-plant-redevelopment-south-boston/
  10. Here we go again. https://www.cleveland19.com/2021/09/04/black-contractors-group-odds-with-sherwin-williams-over-contracts-600-million-cleveland-project/
  11. Listening to the Indians game in Boston, Hammy mentioned all the construction going on there. A few weeks ago, he mentioned all the construction going on in Detroit. Here in Cleveland, nothing much is happening. Yeah, I know SHW and City Club will be starting eventually, but it would be nice to see more.
  12. United also has weekly seasonal non-stops to Cancun.
  13. Right. We were hoping they would hit a home run, but they hit a double instead. Still good, but it won't set off any fireworks.
  14. A little humor: https://www.cleveland.com/darcy/2021/09/rejected-sherwin-williams-tower-topper-darcy-cartoon.html
  15. The Gojo lease is for 2 years. They may not need that much space once the pandemic is over.
  16. ^Mayor White wanted to tear down the IX Center to build a new runway, but that plan was scrapped a long time ago. More recently, it was though the land might be needed for airport expansion. But based on the new master that was just completed earlier this year, it doesn't look like that will be the case.
  17. It will likely be a long time until a future tower is needed. I thought they wanted a top shelf hotel nearby, but that hasn't been mentioned lately. I don't think the garage will be designed to accommodate future development. I believe that was just an idea by a forum member.
  18. Auto show returning to IX Center in 2022: https://www.wkyc.com/article/life/automotive/auto-show/cleveland-auto-show-returns-ix-center-2022/95-1be751cd-d427-472a-a6fb-6c47e5bc1fa8
  19. The Botanical Garden used to have a garden/flower show in the spring. I'm not sure if they still do.
  20. Agreed. I realize they are obsessed with security, but they could certainly allow public access to the ground floor of the pavilion without allowing public access to the upper floors.
  21. OK, I do see the angle now. Initially, it seemed like artistic perspective.
  22. What happened to the angled roof? The pavilion looks nice but rather "suburban" and quite tiny in relation to the other buildings on Public Square. I don't see a fountain.
  23. How many buildings are currently under construction in downtown Detroit?
  24. From the cleveland.com article: "This new center isn’t exactly a long-term solution, either. Eventually, the Ground Transportation Center will be relocated again, as part of a much larger, $2 billion plan to rebuild the terminal at Cleveland Hopkins. That may not happen for anther decade..."
  25. I thought the reason for making it a separate building was due to public access. But since that is not the case, perhaps they could have put the training and conference center somewhere in the tower. For a company as frugal as SHW, it seems odd that they would put such a small building on what is probably the most expensive lot in the city.
