  1. I assume you mean Transport Rd. in Cleveland. I doubt the folks in Garfield Heights are very happy about a jail in their neighborhood.
  2. OK, I get it, but since Orange only goes a short distance, perhaps they could have just kept it as Ontario. Not all streets go perfectly north-south or east-west.
  3. Is the jail site in Garfield Heights a done deal? With all the vacant land in Cleveland and apparently more land about to become available, maybe there is a chance it could remain in Cleveland.
  4. And it will look even better if/when SHW 2 is built.
  5. It's odd that Ontario Ave changes to Orange Ave south of E 9th. I wonder why they didn't just stay with the same name?
  6. ^ I agree, however, I do wonder how much of Bedrock's riverfront plan will actually happen. Who will fill all those buildings when there is so much vacant space now which needs to be filled?
  7. And nobody is champing at the bit to develop those blank slates.
  8. https://www.cleveland.com/opinion/2024/11/how-to-close-burke-airport-with-a-minimum-of-faa-and-private-aviation-pushback-roger-cohen.html
  9. Seems like those always end up in the Columbus area.
  10. Makes me wonder how long it will last.
  11. Has anyone been to Astro? How is it?
  12. There is plenty of that in Cleveland, but would likely require environmental remediation.
  13. ^ I have experienced that quite often when doing an internet search. Articles that appear to have been updated recently are in fact several years old. Perhaps there is a techie out there who can explain why that happens.
  14. Any news about the Delta by Marriott that was going into the abandoned hotel in Midtown?
  15. ^ Looks good, although the FAA might have a problem with the Ferris wheel at that location, and possibly some of the other taller buildings. Is that the USS Cod to the left of the Mather?
  16. A tower on the nuCLEus site would certainly fill the gap between the towers on Public Square and the towers along E 9th and beyond. That is why I'm hoping it will be the next site to be developed. Perhaps it will be the skyline changing project we are waiting for. 😉
  17. IIRC, Nick Mileti wanted to stay downtown, but got no support from the city, and thus looked elsewhere. For those old enough to remember, downtown Cleveland was quite desolate at night in the early 70s which might have factored into Mileti's decision.
  18. I'm not sure about the waterpark, but a mini amusement park on the lakefront might not be a bad idea.
  19. Isn't the existing courthouse also quite nasty and too costly to renovate? Maybe the most logical thing would be to demolish the existing police HQ (once the new one is completed) and build a new courthouse on that site. That way, it remains on property the county already owns. Then demolish the existing courthouse and jail (once the new one is completed) and sell the property for redevelopment.
  20. Has there been any discussion about what will happen to the current police HQ after they move?
  21. C'mon, Browns, let's win one for Jimmy.
  22. That seems to happen quite often. ☹️
  23. Well, I suppose it may be because they are able to draw from a larger area since they are not surrounded by several other cities with pro teams like Cleveland is as @Growth Mindset pointed out. But we are are digressing. Let's get back to soccer.
  24. It's not Dan Gilbert. It's the NHL. They gave up on Cleveland in 1978, long before Gilbert arrived. Apparently, they don't think Cleveland area is large enough to support all 4 major league sports teams.
  25. Opening of the new Terrace Club should increase capacity slightly. Right field upper deck looks better, although I'm not sure I like the open space below the roof. Perhaps they could put up some banners with names of some of the HOF players - Feller, Boudreau, etc.
