  1. Haslam is no spring chicken. He will be 75 if/when the new stadium is completed. And it will take many more years to build Jimmy's World. I suppose he can pass ownership to one of his children when he leaves this world.
  2. Wow. Looking east it is like a completely different city. I assume SHW is mostly obscured by Key Tower from Erieview. Some additions to this view since 2005 include Oswald Tower (formerly Ernst & Young Tower), Hilton Hotel, Beacon, Lumen and Skyline 776 (formerly City Club Apartments).
  3. Stouffer's Top of the Town was on the 38th floor. I assume Mechanical & HVAC is above that. How would they provide access to the roof?
  4. I believe they still load your groceries into your car.
  5. ^ I assume you mean for occasional performances and not a permanent new concert hall for the orchestra. Music Hall is underutilized and could be used. Masonic Hall is another underutilized venue which would be suitable, although it's not exactly downtown. I believe the orchestra played there a while back when Severance was being renovated. An outdoor amphitheater for the orchestra and other performing arts would be nice, something a bit classier than Jacobs Pavilion.
  6. I suppose it depends on how quickly the area is developed. We know new development in Cleveland happens at a snail's pace. There were surface parking lots in the Warehouse District for 30+ years until SHW started building. Any lakefront development will be competing with Bedrock's riverfront development. And there is a glut of vacant office space that needs to be filled.
  7. Makes me think that the land bridge might not be as urgent now.
  8. With Hopkins shoehorned into such a tight space, it would be nice if some of that property could be used for airport landside operations - hotel(s), parking, rental cars. If so, I assume that would be funded by the airlines. Safe travels @B767PILOT.
  9. I doubt that would be possible unless Burke is closed. Besides, there are plenty of surface lots in the CBD for apartment towers. I would rather see recreational, entertainment and visitor attractions on the lakefront - amphitheater, aquarium, gardens, fountains, Ferris wheel, splash pad/ice rink, restaurants, souvenir shops, etc.
  10. Guardians need to get a stud pitcher. But it is unlikely Dolan will pay the price. They will instead try to catch lightning in a bottle with young pitchers from the farm system. Not sure what Bieber is going to do. He has been collecting a paycheck from the Guardians for the last two season while pitching very little. It would be a nice gesture if he signed a short contract with the Guardians.
  11. ^ And it will also compete with the IX Center nearby.
  12. Is the playing surface at the current stadium large enough for a soccer field?
  13. Well, as someone once said, it ain't over til it's over.
  14. Liberty Blvd would have been my choice, but I'm a little biased.
  15. Also, moving to the Art Craft building will allow CDP to unify operations which are currently spread out across the city.
  16. The lakefront looked quite nice from Mall C for the brief period after the old stadium was demolished and the new one was built.
  17. There should be some new developable land at E 9th when the ramps to/from the shoreway are removed. And maybe the marginal roads will go away?
  18. ^ And probably in a snow storm too. Of course if the NFL keeps extending the season, Super Bowls might not be played until April.
  19. Well, I guess we will now need to see renderings without a stadium.
  20. Better not be any public funding.

  22. How is the view from the Superior Viaduct?
  23. Also need to factor in the future of the Main Avenue bridge which is nearing the end of its lifespan.
  24. Hopefully we will start hearing about HQ 2 soon...
