I thought Dream was planning a new build vs re-purposing an existing building.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
All the properties in that area would need to be acquired and the structures demolished, which would likely be a costly and time consuming process.

And here is Jim Donovan's take on a new stadium: https://www.wkyc.com/article/sports/nfl/browns/jimmys-take-new-stadium-cleveland-browns-jim-donovan/95-30570472-9d22-4225-b87c-71cff1cea7e1

I meant the only viable options. I'm guessing there would be NIMBY issues with he Independence site as it would be close to residential areas. And nature lovers would not be happy about clearing out a wooded area.

So based on the previous posts, it sounds like the only viable options are renovating/rebuilding at the current location or building a new stadium in Brookpark.

How about the site of the old CEI plant near Gordon Park?

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Could a new stadium have a smaller footprint than the current stadium? Could the less than desirable neighbor be relocated to the Garfield Hts jail site?

Bring back the marching bands at halftime. They are way more talented IMO.

That should have been done 50 years ago. It's too late now.

Isn't that what the rock hall is all about?

I agree. CLE is shoehorned into such a small space. They really could use this property for airport use, such as long term parking, rental car facility, hotels, etc. Back in the 80s, Robert Corona proposed the Hexatron over the rail tracks between Mall C and the shoreway. I believe the seating capacity was around 70,000. I don't know how it could have fit in that space.

There is already a huge postal facility near the airport. But yes, the post office site or a site nearby would be the best location for a stadium IMO. It's relatively close to the other sports venues and thus can take advantage of their parking facilities. It would be easily accessible via highway and RTA. And if a soccer stadium could also be built in the vicinity, it would be a win-win. Let's be realistic, that area is not so glamorous and it is unlikely to see any significant developments in the foreseeable future.

It would really be nice to see a lakefront development rendering WITHOUT the stadium. Every lakefront development rendering so far has the stadium remaining.

Hmm. Maybe IKEA?

So basically moving the stadium from one side of the shoreway to the other and a little to the east. It might be a pain in the butt trying to purchase all those properties. I know that part of town looks rather shabby, but I'm not sure I would want to see it cleared out for a stadium and surface parking lots that will only be used a dozen or so time per year. I think the old CEI site would be OK or else a site near the post office.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Which huge chunk of land of we talking about - the site of the old CEI plant?
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
I'm in favor of getting the stadium off of the lakefront, but I'd really like it to remain in Cleveland, near downtown. It seems like this Brookpark property could be better used for airport landside operations, hotels and such.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Do the plans for the shoreway and Browns stadium need to be determined before proceeding with the land bridge? It seems like the main beneficiary of the land bridge would be those attending the dozen or so events held at the stadium each year. But if a new stadium is built elsewhere, would a land bridge still be necessary?

Right. I have a bad feeling we will get hit with a late snowstorm on April 8th.

I assume they will be doing fireworks after the game. It should be dark by then if they start at 5:10 pm.
