LibertyBlvd replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Northeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionNot quite sure. They may be just clearing the land and readying it for potential development.

Cleveland: North Coast Harbor Developments
I haven't been to NCH lately. Just wondering if the new bridge is getting much usage. And how about the playground behind the science center?

Well, that may or may not be true. They brought in Ricky Smith from outside the region. How did he do? Not too good IMO. I find it hard to believe there was nobody from within that was qualified. And as I said, Kennedy knew he would be retiring, so he had ample time to select a qualified individual and get them ready to take over once he departed.

I think Kennedy was slightly above $200K. Francis was previously in California, so he was probably making big bucks there due to the higher cost of living. I still don't understand why CLE always need to bring in someone from out of the region instead of hiring from within. Couldn't Kennedy have groomed a replacement since he knew he would eventually be retiring?

Let's hope we are not in a recession in 2025 and they decide to put everything on hold. And why is the new director being paid so much?

Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
There are still several more craters I'd like to see filled - specifically 4th & Prospect (nuCLEus site), 8th & Prospect and 9th & Bolivar. And of course those surrounding SHW, but I assume nothing will happen there until construction is completed. Although it would be nice to hear of some developments in the planning stages.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I believe Shaq lived downtown when he was with the Cavs.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Agreed. Rockside Road on both sides of I-77 is disgusting with offices/hotels/eateries and abutting parking lots.

And only done to appease LeBron. I wonder what will become of the facility after the Cavs leave?

Will this have any affect on players' income tax if they are practicing in Cleveland instead of Independence?

Hopefully that gets the ball rolling on more development on the riverfront site.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
The Cavs ended a 52 year championship drought for Cleveland - the longest of any city. And I think there was some divine intervention in the final minute of game 7 for that to happen. The Browns haven't won a championship since 1964, haven't even been to a Super Bowl. The Indians/Guardians haven't won a World Series since 1948 - longest championship drought in MLB. So that's why I think our teams are cursed. Let's hope we don't have to wait 50+ years for another championship, because I'll be gone by then.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I always hoped to see some kind of retail establishment on the ground floor of May building. Maybe it can happen now.

Ugh. Not sure what it is with our sports teams. It seems like they are all cursed.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
I thought that's why the old PD building was rejected for new police HQ since there is another tenant in the building.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Expansion
The rock hall really shouldn't be inducting as many performers every year. That was fine in the rock hall's early years since they had to play "catch up". But now, they are including performers that are probably not worthy.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
I seem to remember something proposed for that location a while back, probably around the time Jacobs Field opened, but it never happened.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
No, it is not unrealistic. I'm sure the tower can be preserved as residential or mixed use. And I think it would look much better if the police HQ and jail buildings surrounding it are removed.

Cleveland: Downtown: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Expansion
^ I was wondering about that. Very strange.

Cleveland: Downtown: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Expansion
The rock hall has certainly been a great attraction for Cleveland since it opened, but you hit on one of my concerns which makes me wonder if this expansion is really necessary. In 20 or 30 years, will visitors still be flocking to the rock hall in the same numbers as they are now? Will future generations really care to see outfits worn by Elvis or the Beatles or see lyrics scribbled on napkins? Rock has splintered into so many different sub-genres over the last few decades. The inductions are getting a bit silly as they now include hip-hoppers, country performers and others that are not associated with rock and roll. And do they really need to induct a dozen or so performers every year? Perhaps eliminating the hall of fame and induction aspect and just transforming it into a pop music museum might be a good idea. That would eliminate the resentment every time the induction ceremonies are not held in Cleveland.

Cleveland: Downtown: Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Expansion
It would have been nice if they could have added the new section in a way that doesn't obscure the iconic glass front.

Has Benesch left 200 PS? If so, that could be more of a factor than WFH.

Maybe Cliffs will need more space if/when they acquire US Steel.
