  1. ^ And the surface parking lots are finally going away.
  2. https://www.cleveland.com/travel/2023/05/cleveland-on-short-list-for-new-frontier-airlines-crew-base.html
  3. I'm a pretty optimistic person, but I'm a bit skeptical about all of the high rise development planned for the lakefront, tower city and the various other available parcels. There have only been a handful of high rises built downtown in the last 20 years, can we realistically expect to see all these new high rises built in the next 20-30 years?
  4. It would be nice to see a rendering without the stadium for comparison purposes.
  5. It's the convention center's grand ballroom window, not the front door. It might let it a little light, the view would probaly just be the transit center or whatever is under the bridge. But were are being told this is just a mockup, so we shouldn't be too concerned about it at this point.
  6. That's a good idea, but maybe a better location would be at the site of the proposed outlet mall on the muni lot.
  7. I was also wondering about that donut hole. What is the purpose? Is it intended to let in some light to whatever is underneath? It seem like there is a better way to accomplish that.
  8. Oh, I thought that was a joke. So I assume runway numbers changed at other airports as well.
  9. Yeah, I thought they were different. I wonder when/why they were changed?
  10. I assume the FAA order was made after the relocation of the section of Brookpark Rd north of the airport. As for a CLE to Asia nonstop, that would be very long. I wouldn't want to do it.
  11. Here is an interesting article I found: https://www.aviationcle.com/post/the-jumbo-jet-arrives-at-cle
  12. Back in the 70s, United, American and Northwest were flying DC-10s in and out of CLE. And United also had 747 service to Chicago (perhaps it was the smallest variant of that aircraft). And that was before the runway was extended.
  13. And I believe some 747s are occasionally diverted here due to weather. Maybe that Middle East royal will gift the city $2B for CLE expansion.
  14. Speaking of conventions, I assume convention activity is starting to get back to pre-pandemic levels. That should bode well for the downtown hotels, restaurants, etc.
  15. Thanks. Was that going to be the length? It seems rather short.
  16. ^ Maybe from the Superior Viaduct?
  17. I was searching the internet for a diagram showing the configuration of the proposed new runway at CLE, but I can'f find anything.
  18. My Aunt and Uncle lived in that area on Grayton Road and their home was demoed. But I'm pretty sure the plan to clear that area started well before any talk of a new runway. I thought it was due to the expansion of the main runway.
  19. I'm still not sure how that new runway would have worked. It seems like it would have intersected the other existing runways, so I don't know how it would have allowed simulation operations. And as I said previously, it looks like the new runway would have been shorter than the other runways. If this conversation is veering off topic, maybe it should move to CLE thread.
  20. I believe the plan was to add a new runway, but I don't know what purpose it would have served. Looking at the area on Google maps, it doesn't look like a new runway would have been as long as any existing runway and thus not suitable for wide body jets. And it's doubtful there would have been many wide body jets serving CLE anyway, even if it were still a hub. Maybe the real reason was to just get rid of the IX Center to eliminate competition with the downtown convention center.

Nashville also wanted the medical mart. It might have been wise to let them have it.
  23. I was hoping for something a bit whimsical, not a depiction of a migraine.

Grandpa Love's team stunned Haslam's Bucks and they are advancing to the next round. Yeah, it would have been nice to have him come in off the bench. The Cavs were out hustled, out muscled, out coached, out everything in the series. The "we're young" excuse was OK last year, but not anymore. Something has to change.
