Cavs struggling vs the lowly Hornets. Wtf. They did manage to win it in double OT.
  2. What is the typical attendence for an MLS game? Do the teams in Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cincy and Indy play in a stadium built exclusively for soccer? Wasn't there was a discussion on this site a while back about building a soccer stadium somewhere behind Tower City?
  3. Yes, they have. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be attracting many fans to their games.
  4. Wouldn't something like this look better?
  5. They might have to rent a few dog sleds. https://www.wkyc.com/article/sports/nfl/browns/concern-growing-about-bills-ability-leave-buffalo-week-11-game-vs-browns/95-728a5793-777c-4115-9749-34f6cf677956
  6. 13K was too big. But you have to remember Gund Arena (aka The Q aka RMFH) did not yet exist when it was built. So they wanted something big enough not just for men's basketball but other big events. Somewhere around 7-8K would make sense. That would allow for events requiring more capacity than any of the Playhouse Square theaters but not as much as RMFH. I'm not sure what's happening with indoor soccer. The Cleveland Crunch returned a couple years ago and was contemplating a move to a downtown venue, but that hasn't happened yet. The prior version of the Crunch playied at Wolstein Center and I believe they were attracting some decent crowds.
  7. The Rock Hall was supposed to be taller, but it had to be shortened when they decided to move it to the harbor.
  8. Hopefully they don't go too small with the arena, otherwise it will restrict some of the events that can be held there. It's a shame Kevin Mackey had a substance abuse problem. The men's basketball program was flying high prior to his demise and starting to attract big name competition and big crowds. Apparently, CSU had no plans to try to restore it to that level.
  9. Well, it's not just developing around water. Huge parking craters have existed downtown for decades. Thank God some of them are finally going away thanks to SHW and City Club. One difference is Burke is on city property, not privately owned.
  10. Browns have a few more home games, so you might still see one.
  11. ^ But their downtown waterfront is nicer than Cleveland.
  12. Yes, RMFH is a much flashier facility, but it is also very busy with Cavs, Monsters, concerts, ice shows, etc. Availability might be a factor in an event considering Wolstein over RMFH.
  13. “It’s gone past its lifetime,’’ Jewell said of Wolstein. “It doesn’t have some of the modern amenities that you would need to attract other programming.’’ That is sad for a facility that is only 30 years old. Could some of those modern amenities be added? And of course Litt had to add his obligatory social commentary.
  14. Thanks, @Dougal. I didn't realize the London flights lasted that long. I know it was LGW initially, then later switched to LHR when a slot opened up. I believe both the London and Paris flights were seasonal.

  16. Not bad, but it looks like it could use a little more color.
  17. Cleveland paid a small fortune for it. And it is only 4 times per week. CLE has not had much luck with international service. London and Paris via Continental did not last very long. Nor did Reykjavik via WOW and IcelandAir.
  18. I think we would all love to see Tito riding his scooter in a championship parade downtown.
  19. It's too bad Moses Cleaveland didn't settle a little more to the west, maybe around Vermilion. I don't think they get as much lake effect snow.

I loved watching the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving in Tiger Stadium. It was usually quite messy. That's how football was meant to be played.
  21. Lake Erie can be a blessing or a curse, depending on the season.
  22. 100+ degrees for half the year would make me depressed.
  23. I was reading Wikipedia article on KC's downtown airport and saw this: "Airplanes had to avoid the 200-foot (60 m) Quality Hill and the Downtown Kansas City skyline south of the south end of the main runway. In the early 1960s, an FAA memo called it "the most dangerous major airport in the country" and urged that no further federal funds be spent on it."
