  1. Do the Guardians still have a box office at Progressive Field where tickets can be purchased or is it all online now? Doing it online is a bit of a hassle in that you need to create an account, provide credit card info, etc. and then get hit with service fees.
  2. Some promotions other than dollar dogs, bobbleheads and fireworks would be nice. Years ago, they used to have Ladies Day several times per year. But I suppose that would be deemed politically incorrect now. The Plain Dealer had Grandstand Managers Day and the Press rewarded students who received straight A’s. MLB really needs to shorten the regular season. About 140 games would be my suggestion. Of course we know that will never happen.
  3. I also wish they would cut back on all the advertisements throughout the ballpark - behind the plate, on the outfield wall and behind the pitcher's mound.
  4. I and think parking was 50 cents in the muni lot.
  5. Burke, Hopkins and Canton-Akron are all underutilized airports. One needs to go. And Burke is the odd man out. CAK can be designated as a reliever for CLE. It irks me that so many people use the argument that nothing can be built on the Burke land since it is on a landfill. While that may preclude any high-rise towers from being built there, it would not prevent the property from being redeveloped as a park, marina, gardens, walking/biking trails and various other recreational and entertainment attractions. Personally, I would rather see high-rise towers built on the parking craters in the CBD and Flats West Bank, not on the lakefront.
  6. I received a survey a couple weeks ago pertaining to seat replacement in various sections, so apparently that is something else they are planning. I hope they do something with right field upper deck That is an eyesore.

I guess we all got a little delirious due to their hot start. Cavs are still a young team and have a lot to learn. Hopefully Rubio will be back in December. He will definitely help.
  10. ^ Also CEI and Ohio Bell had HQs downtown. And some others in the metro area were TRW, Harris Corp, Figgie International, Cook United, Pick-N-Pay, Fazio's, Stouffer's, Revco. If it's any consolation, a couple of those are either defunct or significantly smaller.
  11. I was amazed by the number of high-rises I saw in Vancouver when I was there 25 years ago. I assume a lot more have been added since then.
  12. Were there any serious plans for new office buildings in Cleveland? I don't think so. Maybe Rocket Mortgage, but that looks unlikely now. nuCLEus (or whatever was planned on that site) is apparently dead. The second tower for SHW won't be happening anytime soon, if at all. The debate about a new justice center will continue for several more years. We may not see any new residential construction for a while with Landmark and Medical Mutual space soon becoming available for conversion. Gloomy news indeed.
  13. Is that building suitable for apartment conversion?
  14. With Medical Mutual announcement, it should now be vitally important to keep the police HQ downtown.
  15. So if more people are living downtown, wouldn't that bode well for businesses to locate downtown? Those living downtown could just walk a few blocks from their apartment to the office.
  16. Didn't the CEO of AG have a financial stake in Crocker Park?
  17. Is the Rose building suitable for apartment conversion?
  18. Well this is disappointing. A few years ago, they were considering consolidating everything downtown, with perhaps a new building being built close to their current HQ. Did Brooklyn offer them a sweet deal? How many workers will be moving?
  19. Frontier Airlines restarts service to Fort Lauderdale. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2022/11/frontier-airlines-restarts-cleveland-to-fort-lauderdale-service.html
  20. It would have been nice to see a plan with the shoreway exit/entrance ramps removed at E 9th and a new access point added to the east, perhaps at E 18th. Doing so would make E 9th more pedestrian friendly and might eliminate the need for a land bridge. It would free up some land to possibly relocate the Amtrak station to a more easily accessible location closer to E 9th and integrated with the RTA station. Extending E 18th north would provide additional access to the Burke property once it is redeveloped.
  21. A pedestrian bridge (or two) over the shoreway from the muni lot would provide additional access.
  22. Personally, I found the car racing at Burke to be rather boring. I prefer seeing it on city streets like they do in Detroit and Toronto. Perhaps it could be done in downtown Cleveland.
  23. I believe that is done electronically now.
  24. Also, isn't Burke being subsidized by landing fees at CLE? Closing Burke would eliminate that burden on CLE.

Great news. I like downtown Peninsula, but I had always hoped they could add a few more shops for coffee, ice cream, etc. and give it a bit of a Chagrin Falls vibe.
