  1. Some interesting info about concrete curing in this article: https://copavementsolutions.com/what-temperature-is-too-cold-to-pour-concrete/
  2. Cleveland-Cliffs reports record profits. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2022/02/cleveland-cliffs-reports-record-profits-sees-bright-future-if-automakers-ramp-up-production.html
  3. Once a new jail is built, could they build a new courthouse on the old jail site? There would be demolition costs, but at least they already own the property.
  4. https://bridgehunter.com/oh/cuyahoga/north-coast-harbor/ Interesting quote from the link above: "This is an ironic bridge, for an ironic city, on an ironic harbor, said NOACA Executive Director Grace Galucci whose organization helped provide some of the funding."
  5. If this shanty is a rockin' don't come a knockin'!
  6. And in Midtown there will be Delta by Marriott and possibly Dream Hotel. I guess it will be survival of the fittest.
  7. Yes, it is ridiculous since these are projects that are ready to go.
  8. Sherwin-Williams expansion in North Carolina: https://www.cleveland.com/business/2022/02/sherwin-williams-investing-300-million-into-expansion-in-north-carolina.html
  9. Hopefully it can be spared from the wrecking ball. Perhaps it could be repurposed as a senior/assisted living facility. Put a lawn/garden in that center courtyard for the residents to enjoy.
  10. A few years ago at CLE, Frontier added non-stops to several west coast cities - Seattle, San Francisco, LA and San Diego. However, after a short time (less than a year?) most or all of them were discontinued. Apparently, if they don't get the numbers they expect right out of the gate, it's buh-bye for those flights.
  11. ^ Does your analysis take into account rush hour traffic? I suppose rush hour isn't so bad now since many are still working at home, but that may not be the case forever. And then there are the frequent accidents at dead man's curve.

Cool. So the deal is a win-win.
  13. Frontier and Spirit to merge: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/07/frontier-and-spirit-to-merge-creating-5th-largest-airline-in-us.html
  14. ^ Problem is pedestrians need to cross over a few roadways north of the rail tracks. I think that's the reason they were closed.
  15. I assume downtown Pittsburgh does not have as many parking craters.
  16. It certainly would be nice to see a new casino at another location rather than in an historic building on Public Square.
  17. Cleveland actually was a good hockey market at one time with the Barons of the AHL playing to standing-room-only crowds. In 1942, the NHL offered membership to the Barons, but owner Al Sutphin declined. In the early 50s, under new ownership, the Barons sought to join the NHL, but financing issues caused the NHL to reject the bid. Cleveland finally got into the NHL in the summer of 1976 when the California Golden Seals relocated. But with little time or money for promotion and fans were still buzzing about the Cavaliers "Miracle at Richfield", the reception was lukewarm. Two seasons later, the NHL Barons were merged with the Minnesota North Stars. So getting back on topic...
  18. But at the player level, about 70% are black. Couldn't one argue that white players are underrepresented in the NFL?

43° and sunny in CLE at the moment.
  20. I was not including the 63' flag pole on top of Terminal Tower. I didn't want to sound too greedy. 😀
  21. I'll be happy with anything over 708'.

Apparently they are now giving names to winter storms. This one is called "Landon".
  23. Why does Cleveland need a soccer stadium?
  24. Prospect seems to be a better location IMO in that it is also close to Gateway.

Typically nor'easters don't have much of an affect here. I believe it is mostly the east coast that gets hammered.
