  1. Nickel Plate Road Steam Locomotive No. 765 is returning to the Cuyahoga Valley this spring! For the first time, Steam in the Valley will happen in May. https://www.cvsr.org/steam/?fbclid=IwAR15TRj8h2sxD7Oax6W05qY1NT96Ay1HIfmI5vL_PF6aIxi8tpxqCkjAuZQ
  2. I guess I don't have a problem with blank walls as there was usually a reason - either an adjacent building was there at one time and is now gone or a new building was planned but never built. As for the Federal building, I think they just needed to bomb-proof those two vulnerable sides. It sure would be nice to see something built on the unfinished parcel of the Landmark complex. Hopefully it will happen in my lifetime. It's kind of embarrassing that it has been unfinished for over 90 years.
  3. Hopefully the Browns won't need to do a lot of punting on Sunday. https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/browns/browns-place-p-jamie-gillan-lb-anthony-walker-on-reserve-covid-19-list
  4. I liked the curved glass, but the other parts don't blend in very well IMO. Seems like the floor plates in the tower would have been rather small.
  5. ^ It would have been nice to have another tall tower downtown, but dang, that was rather ugly.
  6. ^ Agreed. And hopefully it will kick-start other new construction projects downtown.
  7. I am not a subscriber. Is there anything noteworthy in the article?
  8. It looks like the weather will be decent on groundbreaking day. Forecast is showing temps in the mid 50s.
  9. Why is it always young teens doing this? Some of them aren't even old enough to drive. It it some kind of gang initiation ritual? Are they using the stolen vehicles to commit other crimes?

It seems like this kind of thing happens every year. Very sad. https://fox8.com/news/devastating-tuscarawas-county-fire-destroys-warehouse-full-of-toys-for-tots-gifts/
  11. Hopefully they will start drawing more than 1,000 per game.
  12. Xhibition, the Cleveland-based luxury streetwear and sneaker retailer, will open a new store at Tower City early next year. The location, described in a press release as a “special event energy space,” is expected to open in the stately, wood-paneled Oak Room ahead of the 2022 NBA All-Star Game on February 20. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2021/12/high-end-streetwear-retailer-xhibition-to-open-event-space-and-store-at-tower-city.html I'm not quite sure what a "special event energy space" is, nor do I know if the Oak Room is the right place for it, but we shall see.
  13. How about May Co. building?
  14. Here is an interesting article about night flights from Burke. https://www.flyingmag.com/aftermath-into-the-dark/
  15. About 5 years ago, a private plane returning to Columbus after a Cavs game crashed into the lake killing 6. And in the 80s, a seagull got sucked into the engine of a T-bird that had performed at the air show resulting in a crash that killed the plot. Those are a couple mishaps that come to mind.
  16. I'm not saying Burke needs to be closed immediately, but rather at some point in the future. The city needs to start the dialog. Burke poses safety risks as well with a lake on one side and tall buildings on the other side. There have been some fatal mishaps there over the years.
  17. Nice list. I would add planning for future of Shoreway/Main Ave bridge, unless that is a subtask of the Haslam proposal. I thought I heard that Bibb is in favor of closing Burke. If so, I will be behind him all the way. Cleveland has two underutilized airports. One of them is on prime lakefront property. Let's at least get the conversation going with the FAA about eventually closing Burke.
  18. Keeping the canal unwatered probably helps to reduce flooding in the vicinity after a heavy rain.
  19. I would think OC will now be able to siphon traffic off of the other roadways in the area and reduce congestion on those roadways.
  20. The stadium, convention center and other projects that require a significant amount of public funding tends to limit the "bells and whistles" on those facilities.
  21. Are they still using the Coliseum in LA? I thought they just opened a new one.

  23. It's bad enough that development projects move at such a slow pace in Cleveland. But this is ridiculous.
  24. How tall of a tower was Magellan planning? There is also an available parcel at 4th and Prospect. 😉
