Cleveland: Downtown: Tower at Erieview & Galleria Renovation
It looks like they're working on that bank thing. I went by this morning, and the right side on E. 9 appeared to be under construction.

Cleveland - next UrbanOhio forum meet will be....
Does someone have a sign; how do we know where to go when we get there?? I'd like to go, but I'd need to go home change and then take the Rapid back to OC.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I need to rant. I was watching Feagler and Friends last night (OK, I don't have cable and I was too tired to go out like I should have, lol), and they were "discussing" the Euclid Corridor, and one of the panelists - Michael Roberts - said he was afraid businesses would never come back to Euclid Avenue like they were BEFORE the project. What, is he going back in a time machine to 1960?! Where were these dynamic businesses five years ago? As far as I can tell by looking at the faded signs, Euclid Avenue recently had the same kind of businesses as downtown Seville. It's not like the street got torn up and Gucci left. He then went and referenced Erieview, an urban renewal project from the 1950s that didn't work as evidence that this won't work. THAT WAS ALMOST 60 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!! And these is a STREET! They did the same damn thing in Chagrin Falls, and it sucked for the businesses but Chagrin Falls didn't evaporate! Now, I'm not going to argue this will bus line will change the world, but come on this is a whole new road at an incredible discount. At the very least, think of how nice it will be to drive down our MAIN STREET and not need an ATV! This probably overlaps with the Feagler thread, but I'm just getting fatigued by people bitching about every damn little thing. Just a few months ago, the PD ran a story about businesses getting killed by this road project and they referenced the Halle Building "food court." I wonder if it ever occurred to them that the food was disgusting and the Halle Building has high vacancy because Case didn't move in.

10 stories? For whom, elves? How in the world are they going to learn how to read if they can't even fit in the building! OK, I'm sorry for that disjointed Zoolander reference.

Does the current national housing/mortgage problems have any negative ramifications for this and other downtown projects?

I can't read local blogs anymore. It's like a big pack of wolves with an axe to grind. It's not objective analysis.

Wild Oats vs Fresh Market vs Whole Foods
Galluci's is da bomb, baby! As a former deli clerk of 5 years, I can say they are among the only ones who get it when it comes to meats and cheeses. Plus if you're lazy, you can get meals that all you need to do is stick in the oven and add noodles. Score one for the bachelors!!

How much is the CSU food court compared to traditional fast food? I am dying for a cheap, good burrito on lunch sometimes.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
^ Damn! I know stores hate me. I go into stores and go straight to the discount rack..... This Marshalls has a section of $10 dress shirts. If you sift through it, there's some decent stuff in there, cheaper than Filine's Basement, which to me is basically the same thing with less of a discount.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
WELL! I'll eat crow (as long as you season it well). I went to Marshalls at Steelyard last night, and came away with some pretty good deals. I got two dress shirts and tie for $30 total. MTS will probably guffaw at prices that low, but the stuff I purchased wasn't crap -- just decent mid-tier shirts. I'll definitely stop by again in five months or so.

Feagler: Parking In Dowtown Cleveland
Let me make sure I'm reading this correctly -- he's tell us cars get broken into downtown???? Holy $hit, I thought that only happened in towns like Cuyahoga Falls where I grew up or Twinsburg, where one of my friends lives -- someone took the XM Radio right out of the car in the driveway! And, you know what, the parking spaces at the Heinen's in Rocky River are awful small. I know I only drive a Civic, but I need a lot space to shake my fat @ss around when I get out. OK sorry.........

How about some more details about this Aquilon - I've never heard of it! And I'm not gay, by the way, I just have interests that make it hard to relate with straight guys. I blame my mother, and if you have several hours, I'll tell you about it, LOL JK.

Cleveland: Best Design
The industrial design thread got me thinking about the importance of design. At my job, I read a lot of design magazines, and now I'm a little obsessed with all of the design blogs out there -- products, decorating, building, gardening, cities, businesses, showrooms. So, I was wondering, in your opinion, where have you been in Northeast Ohio and just thought: Wow, that just knocks me out! I'll start. The first time I walked by Lola on E. 4th at night, I thought I had been transported to another city through a wormhole or something. The street presence of that place is amazing, and I still haven't been inside. The glowing bar, modern glassiness, the allowing of the cute hostess to wear black Converse All-Stars. It was like creative chaos. Things were different on purpose. Second, I think the Banyan Tree in Tremont has the best storefront in the whole city. It shouts creative commerce, which I love, and I'm not even the target consumer. However, I always know when I go in that store I'm going to find something my mom and sister will love.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
^ I went to j-school, so I could be way off on the math, but the route would technically be about 20 miles because the BRT goes two directions, so it would be $8.4 million per mile in Cleveland and about $12 million in Portland. Also, don't forget that this whole project includes resurfacing Euclid Avenue for standard vehicular traffic. I'm not sure what the average city street costs per mile, but that could also be factored into this project's cost. But, come on, look at the numbers. The federal government and state are paying for most of this.

No I didn't! I really don't see the point of voting for this tax. I have more important things to worry about.

MTS, do you know which retailers around here might sell these suits? The department stores? When I was looking for suits last year, I couldn't locate the suits in this price range.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Not to take this thread political, but where is Dennis Kucinich? He had a senate hearing or some such just months ago on cities and convention centers. Basically, it was positioned by him as a big money pit that steals money from the communities where they are built. So, here we are, his home base about to embark on a new convention center, and where the hell is he? Don't get me wrong, I don't want his big mouth to ruin this, but I'd be able to respect his lunacy a little if he actually stood for what he spouts out. I guess he'll leave that to that chubby guy in sweatpants who asked me a few days ago to sign the anti-Med Mart petition.

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
WTF, why would they put an IKEA in Green?!?! To make it closer to Columbus and Cleveland? I hate strip malls! Steelyard is all right. I support the jobs and retail in the city proper, but it's not much of a draw for me. They need to add a TJ Maxx - Marshall's doesn't cut it for me!

I was just trying to show that a decent, nice-looking suit doesn't have to cost thousands.
