What field are you in?
PR! I also write freelance press releases for major life occasions, like weddings, baptisms and spur-of-the-moment weddings in Vegas. Just kidding. Unless someone really wants to pay me to do that.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
From what I can tell, when certain people, companies or groups do anything, certain people (or every person!) in the area will be suspicious of being duped. To me, that's the biggest problem with Northeast Ohio. People elect officials to do certain jobs, but when it comes down to it, they don't really trust them to make the decisions they're supposed to make! That's everybody's fault because we're not demanding the kind of public officials and communities we want. This idea, it seems to me, is a bit of a no brainer because the whole concept is not just creating a place for conferences (which alone I would think was dumb) but actually branding Cleveland as one of THE medical hubs. I'm no economic expert, but if we can get a new industry REALLY bumping around here, that helps ALL the businesses! And I figure I'm getting taxed so bad as it is, what's another buck every $25 or whatever it is.

If you are moving to Cleveland for a job, what industry is it in?
How about communications....liked media/pr? I don't fit in those categories!

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
This is interesting! Can anyone show me physically what we're talking about (I'm horrible at matching words to pictures for some reason). This could be awesome!!! If I stay in Cleveland, I'm thinking I'd like to move to OC when my lease is up in the GC (Gold Coast).

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I find this story curious. Maybe I'm not getting the big picture... After four people get shot in front of a certain club, the next day a cop goes down there and loses his cool. They act like this is some form of corruption. It sounds like an officer who is frustrated and angry. If they are violating rules, why shouldn't he threaten them with investigation? It's not like he's a mob cop looking for a cut of liquor sales.

Make that 11. The greeter would probably need a personal assistant. This is Cleveland, after all.

I was going to start a convention center with my dad, but we decided to open an auto manufacturing plant instead.

Cleveland Heights is light years more walkable than Copley, imho.

So, did we ever figure out if this is a regular Barnes & Noble or a college textbook only version?

Strip District proposed in flats???
^ You'll get no argument from me. If I was in charge, I'd force all of those places into an industrial area of town away from anyone's neighborhood. I don't understand why strip clubs even have a choice where they can locate their businesses.

NE Ohio: MLS stadium
Are these people idiots? They are constructing an American football stadium just outside of downtown Akron with the same capacity. The seasons do not run into each other -- it seems to me it'd be a no-brainer to join up with the University of Akron and save some big $$$! That's the thing that frustrates me about people, and I'm sure it's like this elsewhere. Why is it so bad to hedge your bets a little with big projects like this? OH, MLS wants a soccer-only facility. Well, screw MLS! They aren't plunking down $150 million in each city for a league that may go the way of the Red, White and Blue basketball.

That thing is a monstrosity. This has been my main problem with knocking down the tower. The new design looks even worse.

The Dating Thread
HEY!!! So not true :P I'm a roadie and my chest is shaved. And I don't look like a toddler. Just a 120 lb. teenager who is 22 years old :P I'm a roadie too!!!! Of course, I'm also the kid who in elementary school swam in a t-shirt because I didn't want to expose myself. I might have some issues, LOL!

The Dating Thread
LOL! This thread is great! I have learned a few things of my own... 1. Girls don't really like poetry. Somebody made that up. 2. The Internet is useless to the world of dating. All I want when I talk to a girl is her phone number. Don't give me your myspace or e-mail address. 3. If you have the body of a road cyclist, it's probably best not to shave your chest because you'll look like a toddler on the beach. That's even more disturbing. 4. You can date anyone as long as you don't act like you're scared or a pushover when you go up to her. I don't believe in that "leagues" concept. The key is being attractive holistically. 5. The friend zone might as well be Hell. You're not getting out of there.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
It doesn't sound like there are enough police to rough up gang members all over town. And in some neighborhoods, it sounds like even if they haul away 200 kids, they're still stuck with monsters. I read somewhere that Cleveland doesn't even have a gang unit. If true, WTF? Here's my public safety proposal. I say we rescind the arts tax that passed last year and transfer that money to safety forces. I voted for that tax, but now that I think about it, I think it's more important to keep order in our cities. I'm as artsy as a non-artist straight guy comes, but I seriously think crime in this area needs to be combated with tidal wave force or we're totally screwed. All these developments around town are going to be for nothing if people are afraid to come to the city.
