WTAM = EVIL
To be fair, I heard him complement E.4th Street profusely one day. I do agree, his negativity is aggravating. I prefer Munch. The best way to beat this stuff is to sway public opinion without them. I know people are doubtful of the country place opening downtown, but catering to different kinds of people is important, I think. I probably won't go down there, but if it brings more people into the city for a good time, then who cares?

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I think I'm a huge Cleveland booster, but at some point, the people in charge in Ohio need to get the hint that people vote with their feet.

Wow, that looks pretty bad. I'm shocked they'd cut the 304.

Not to be perverse, but I sorta imagined you could do something with the black paneling that would look cool....

Panhandling/Scamming stories
When I was in D.C. over the weekend, this guy drove by and threw cash out the window at a homeless-looking guy. I was seriously ready to run in the street for it until I realized what was going on.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
So, not a lot of time to talk, but I'm in D.C. this weekend visiting friends, and I have to say it's making me love Cleveland--and New York--even more. Having tons of fun but am so glad I live in Cleveland. I wish I could grab everyone and say "HEY. Let's go to Bar Centro then bop over to the patio at Reddstone or South Side." I wish we could import some of these cute single girls, though.

Gas Prices
I don't feel bad for Detroit, per se, but I am pissed that they have been so short-sighted about the future. A big chunk of our economy, including in Ohio, is dependent on the health of the U.S. auto industry. That's a lot of jobs, from the design room to the factory to the dealership to advertising agencies to the mechanic.

I personally gave up on the bus and went to trains because I can't handle the hassle of missing and then waiting until god knows when. The trains are much more reliable.

Right now, I'm more concerned with the monthly passes going up to $85 a month in October!

Gas Prices
At least they're not getting squished in like they do in Asia.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
I think there is a sizable market for country-themed stuff, as this seems to be. OK, it's tacky in a beautiful building like May Co., but I agree with MTS, who says it'll be there forever. Maybe this will show others what can be done with the space. The food looks boring. I'd like to see some real BBQ up in this joint, not microwaved burgers. But I'm willing to give it a chance.

Cleveland: Little Italy Neighborhood Discussion
I love public transit as much as the next guy, but I've wanted a Testarossa since I was like 6 years old. I don't think the point is to drive it as much as stare at it lovingly.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Who frickin' cares. He's got two seasons left. This is 2008. Stars go where they go. I think these same pinhead writers just enjoy the idea of him "heartbreaking" Ohio. If he leaves without winning a championship, I'm blaming Danny Ferry because he's the butthead calling the shots. edit: And another thing, I'm sick of this eternal inferiority complex we have toward cities like New York and Chicago. I've said this a million times, but we are not in the same class and we shouldn't compared to them. We should aspire to be regarded like cities like Austin and Portland. This is not to say we are inadequate, but come on, New York is the center of the media universe in the United States. We should look to carve our own niche. And it can be with or without LeBron--although I'd prefer if he stayed.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I don't understand why the trains don't use turnstyles like every other large city. Today I took the Rapid to University Circle and boarding at W. 117 was a disaster. Train arrived at the stop, and waited for minutes while people piled on, most of them going to the Tribe game and paying with cash. Finally, all the people crammed into the train and there was a line INSIDE the moving train to pay the fare. I flashed my monthly pass to the driver and ran to the back of the train. Basically, what I'm saying is that a buttload of people could have easily gotten free rides. And they should get rid of cash and just use the cards, like in NYC. I have spoken!!!

Cleveland: Homeless News & Discussion
I disagree that not giving random homeless people money is "mean." However, I do agree that getting rid of benches is not the answer. I hate when cities and other locations do that. It's incredibly unwelcoming. So, we're going to punish everyone because homeless people sleeping on the bench are unsavory?

Airline Industry News and Discussion
I wonder what the implications are for business travel in the future. If it is too expensive, difficult to send people all over the country, how does this affect how companies staff, locate their offices and facilities? The amazing this about America is how inadequately prepared we are for paradigm shifts.

Cleveland: Prospect Place, Joshua Hall, & Mueller Lofts
I've got it bad for this building/unit. I watched them renovate the building from my old job, and now to see the inside...Wow, I'm smitten! That's the kind of design and look I've been hoping for in Cleveland. Add the fact that they are taking the facades off the buildings on Euclid and the new stuff in the Flats, including that eco-hotel (can't wait to get a drink in that lounge!!!!!!). Loving Cleveland right now...sort of getting bored of Lakewood! ;)
