  1. My mama always said, ain't nothin' good happens at the strip club!!!
  2. Well, a certain poster by the name of Peabody seemed a bit peeved! Why do you they have to call it a "strip club district?" That's not classy!

I hate to be debbie downer, but I can see Sir Charles' point. To an outsider, it's bleak around here. Heck, to me it's bleak! I get an hour for lunch, and I have gotten SO bored this spring and summer, I don't know what to do with myself. There's nowhere to shop or browse, Euclid is all torn up AND the buildings are vacant. It's really quite depressing. The one thing LeBron could do to make a small difference would be every time he signs an endorsement deal, he should stipulate that a certain number of jobs be created in Cleveland. For a guy commanding a $90 million shoe deal (who knows how much it'd be worth if he resigned today), he could really throw his weight around. Nike, Microsoft, etc. It'd be awesome if he became a little economic engine. But I don't think we need a Magic Johnson and LeBron James megaplex or a The Magic King James Pizza Emporium with key duplication services.

Man, I wish I would have been at that party!
  5. First off, holy cow! I knew there was some serious suburban love out "yonder," but the description of West Side makes my upbringing in Cuyahoga Falls sound positively urban ;) When I was little, we walked home from our schools in packs live roving dogs. Each afternoon we'd throw rock's at Dick Goddard's face on a billboard across the street from the grocery store. Then when somebody told us to stop, we went sprinting into alleys and down the street. That's the kind of stuff I feel sorry for kids not having anymore. Just having a real neighborhood! When it comes to Crocker Park, I have nothing against it. The only store I really like is H&M just because they sell slimmer more exciting young clothing for doods. It's impossible to find modern clothing at an affordable price around here. The other stores are pretty much the same ol' thang. As far as design goes, it doesn't work for me. It's too much like a movie set. The sidestreets dead-end into a parking deck, and does anyone else thing it's f-ing bizarre there's that plaza/park/square thing that opens up into a majestic....Dick's Sporting Goods. In a traditional city, that kind of look would be reserved for truly important buildings. I hear people at the place saying how great it is. It makes me wonder if they've ever stepped foot in a real city.
  6. Hello?! Discount Shoes opened on Euclid not three months ago. What more do you people want??? :-D
  7. Well, there's nothing there you can't get anywhere else. But when you live in Lakewood, it's the closet place to find pants that don't have 12 pleats.
  8. I took it last weekend, and it was the slowest it's ever been. I bet we didn't hit 25 MPH for more than 2 minutes at a time.
  9. ^ No doubt you're right about suburban fear, but regionalism around here isn't about merging the cities. We're talking about SERVICES. In 2020, will we have really lost so much if a Lakewood cop's cruiser says "Cuyahoga County Police?" This place can be so parochial, it's obnoxious.
  10. A Cleveland Plus!!

That station looks to be a disaster. In order to get over there, your pretty much have to take a bus. Fine. But where the buses currently drop you off, you have to walk all the way from the new unusable station to the old station across five lanes of traffic. So, of course, you either miss the train or miss the circulator and have to wait 30 minutes for another one. I try to be positive, but I've never had one good experience with those circulator buses at that station. I know it's horrible, but I drive to Triskett and just dump my car and get on the train that way.

I'm so jacked up for this series. If those guys on the team are even remotely as jacked up as me, it's going to be insane! Here's what I like about these finals: The Cavs get three home games in the middle. If they can take one of the first two, anything could happen at home. You know the crowd is going to be obscenely loud. Thousands of people crowded outside the arena looking for wins. That's got to be intimidating. I'd ready for a sweep!!! ;)
  14. Yeah, in this case it seems silly to be a through street since Euclid and Prospect are right there. They still need a walking area in the middle. Fire trucks could fit in there, if need be.

A retractable roof would be da bomb! If it was like a giant skylight in the winter. That'd be neat!
  16. So where will those cars go with the development? Vertical with a parking deck or two?
  17. I'd take 668 Euclid any day of the week dressed in my granny's underwear!

Someone needs to get Sasha to stop running people over to get to the hoop, though. We need him to score this series!!
  19. Well, I personally hate it!
  20. Don't know if this is related, but have you seen Lake Avenue from the Shoreway to W. 117? They took it down from four pseudo lanes to two with a turn lane in the middle. The traffic on tomorrow morning is probably going to be a big pain. To me, I don't see the point of this change. Anyone have any insight?
  21. Well, you have to realize that MTS has extremely high standards when it comes to fashion. He might need to include a link to the post where he submitted his "most-favored brands" list. In fact, maybe we need to create a thread where every character on this board's personality is explained. I don't know about growing up in prim and proper suburbs. I grew up in Cuyahoga Falls and then moved with my family to Hudson after high school. These places were pretty prim and proper, yet I love the neighborhoods of Cleveland and the inner-ring suburbs. Of course, I didn't grow up in a subdivision, so it might be a bit different. Personally, I think this sort of thing has more do with exposure than where you grew up, although they could be related. For example, on vacations, we always went to the East Coast and we always went through urban areas. Other people I know never did this sort of thing, so they find many of the negatives that all cities have as disturbing and unwelcome. From panhandlers to window A/C units! I also think just scoping out the crime and "vibe" of the neighborhoods you're interested in is a very good idea. They say to do this in New York, too. Go during the day then go again at night to see what it's like. I've been in the Gold Coast cluster of Lakewood for a year, and it seems pretty similar to what I've grown up with. I do miss having a dishwasher, though, because I'm lazy.

    ^ ha!
  23. This seems like a waste of time. The choices seem to be either it gets knocked down or they'll sell the building to someone else and it'll sit or something. What's the end-game?
  24. KJP, you're the man!
