  1. Pshaw! I got blue walls AND a window a/c unit in my apartment in Lakewood!!
  2. WHY WOULD ANYONE COVER THAT!? That's like putting Salma Hayek in brown Fruit of the Loom sweats!
  3. OK, you know more people are taking public transit when you're on the same train as two other people from work...in an office of less than 30 people!
  4. ^ Totally agree, Mayday. Independent stores thrive because they can better connect with customers. Last week I went with my parents to Room Service in the Detroit Shoreway and the owner came up and started talking with us about some other events and other things. You need to make people feel welcome!
  5. There is a large grad student population in this part of Cleveland. Some of these buildings see a lot of people leave at the end of May. Things will pick up come August when new med, law and other grad students start moving in. Curious. My apartment building in Lakewood actually has been emptying out rather steadily for the past several months. Sort of makes you nervous. However, it seems to me there are way more apartments than there are renters. Either way, my suggestion is to totally enjoy the silence. If no one bothers you, then who cares! :)
  6. I'm a big book reader but I never liked that shop. I'd prefer a place like Visible Voice in Tremont.... Or Half Priced Books. That place rocks lol
  7. How many restaurants do we need? How about some RETAIL. I like eating like everyone, but big cheese burgers a gourmand's paradise does not make.
  8. Jerry, to you have any sense how much of this was a reaction to the transfer that would be added to their journey and the limitation of having only one downtown train stop? I think those are both perfectly reasonable grounds for fighting the proposed change. But if it really was- "trains are bad-I won't ride them", that is very strange. I suppose it's hard to tease out people's motivations to that extent. Honestly, I'm the opposite. I drive one mile to the W. 117 stop rather than go to the bus outside my door because it's just easier. The buses are never on time and come infrequently. Additionally, my work schedule is weird and I feel more comfortable hanging out in Tower City later in the evening rather than a desolate stretch of downtown. In the winter, you can't be climate controlled stations. I figure I've improved my carbon footprint by cutting my daily commute from 12 miles to 2 miles a day. Not perfect but pretty good! P.S. Jerry, is there a place where I can get one of those cool rail maps you have in the trains? I decorate my apartment with transit maps......

^ It's not just you. I think one of the biggest problems with meeting people in Cleveland is it's hard to actually find single people. In a bigger city like New York, you can walk into a book store or museum and see lots of potentially eligible people, however around here the numbers are far smaller. Another problem is that Cleveland is provincial in a way, so people have networks of friends but unlike more dynamic areas, these networks don't grow or change in complexion, they stay the same, so a lot of times your friends aren't much help in meeting new people because you already know the people they know.
  10. I went to Redd Stone and Stone Mad last night. Both were totally awesome. I have to say I preferred Redd Stone, though. The patio is sick. Love it.
  11. At first, I was hoping Jacobs would build a very tall tower, but upon further reflection, I really don't care. I am hopeful the building interacts better with the street, though. I work in Key Tower, and that thing is like a 57-story sarcophagus. I go in at 8:30 and don't walk out until 6:30-7:00. There are thousands of people in it, but it's lonely nonetheless. I much preferred my old job's location in a 12-story building. It was easy to get out on the street.
  12. ^ I know what one famous Clevelander would say to that.....
  13. I finally saw Bang & Clatter this week... ??? I don't get it. The building above the ground floor is absolutely beautiful but that facade is butt ugly. The door has to go. And why do all the E. 4th buildings have all the wood nailed onto brick buildings?
  14. Make it work!

If they don't fix this team, LeBron is leaving and I won't blame him. That steal and dunk he had on Paul Pierce today was unbelievable.
  16. I think we said that last year
  17. This would be hilarious if it weren't so tragic. How can a group that never got the job done say it's their responsibility to get the job done?
  18. ^ I looked it up. Apparently there is only one in Seattle so far..
  19. OMG I LOVE IT!

^ The Chicago Bulls were full of crappy role players, just like the Cavs. I would say Boobie is to Lebron as Scottie was to Michael. LJ is gonna have a tough decision because any team that wants him isn't going to be able to afford the star power to go around him.
  21. That's still there! I thought that was supposed to be a teaser until it opens :(
  22. What's the "lounge" aspect? I saw this place a couple weeks back on my stop to the bank, and it looks dope!
  23. jamiec, I'm not sure what you mean? Currently those are parking lots. But would they be better as actually mixed-use buildings?
  24. Wow, brilliant. Put a giant, lifeless building right on top of downtown's only hub of activity.

The thing I don't get is, those buttheads keep complaining that LeBron is a whiner and they don't understand why he's getting calls.... HELLO, they said before the series started they were going to beat the crap out of him as a strategy. This reminded me of last year's series with Miki Moore and the Nets. That was when Sasha was good, lol.
