  1. That Rock Hall.... MAN.... When I drive home via the Shoreway, I watch the people walk from downtown proper across a highway on-ramp over to the museum. That thing is so inaccessible! BAH! They should have stuck it on Euclid. And what's wrong with the Ritz and Intercontinental? Why can't the Rock Hall rent both hotels 100% for the awards and put it on lockdown so the celebs don't have to mingle with us commoners? I'm sorry, but it's bull$h1t that those awards can't be held here. Detroit hosted the Super Bowl, which is a way bigger deal, imho. The Rock Hall awards are on friggin' Vh1! The Super Bowl is on every channel! AND why can't we have a Chipotle or any other good burrito place downtown?! This is ridiculous! This region is so backwards! I'm in a particularly nasty mood tonight!
  2. That's the guy who owns the building with Loretta's Restaraunt in it! I wrote him a letter about his dirty storefronts, but if he were to take that metal crap off the building, I'd write him a very thankful letter!
  3. I get worked up easy, haha. But, seriously, I need to check out some of these places. I want to support them! My only issue is, a lot of the local menswear shops sell stuff more at my dad's demographic than me, in terms of style and pricing.
  4. Complaints about inadequate parking, pricey parking and crime persist. “It’s been very difficult,” says Bob Genovese, co-owner of Christopher’s. “The city of Cleveland’s parking issue has not helped. I myself get plenty of tickets. Like Brooks, a few years back, Genovese and his partner made a downsizing move to save their business. All of which begs the questions, in a metropolitan area where it’s not unusual to hear people boast about how long it’s been since they ventured downtown, why are these menswear retailers hanging around? ARGH!!!!! WTF!!!! edit: Woah, the girl who is opening the new store is only 22 and has a liquor license to boot? I want to get over there and check it out.
  5. LOL.... All this fence talk is slightly ridiculous ;) In all honesty, I like the plywood fences they put up in downtown NYC and Toronto that can get all stapled up with promos for new CDs and concerts. It feels "living" to me when something gets touched like that.
  6. It's utterly ridiculous that we can't do this stupid ceremony. Those rock stars come to Cleveland for shows anyway. It'd kill them to come here for that?? Then they wonder why the locals don't support the museum more.
  7. Yeah, the Lakewood people seem irritated. I also commute from the Edgewater/Cove area of Lakewood. By the time this gets into high construction, I hope to have a place on the Rapid line!

Man, this is frustrating as hell
  9. I meant good signs, Pope!!!!
  10. I want to see those signs up and down Euclid :)
  11. ^ I hate to be a bad sport, but to me Macy's has about as much retailing sex appeal as the lingerie aisle at K-Mart. It's good to see they're filling up the stores quickly, though. I suppose Forever 21 might be intriguing, but now that I have a "real job," I find myself spending more money at mid-tier stores like Express, Gap, J.Crew, T.J. Maxx on Chagrin ;) edit: To clarify: I'm talking about the standard suburban version of Macy's, not the flagship.

In the Cool Cleveland interview, Ned Hill mentions all the architectural firms in the area, so I don't think they are leaving them out at all.
  13. That sums it up pretty well I think. Then they'll buy and SUV and move to the suburbs!!! OK...Sorry that was too easy ;)
  14. The anti V-day thing sounds fun. I think I might go, too!
  15. $12 seems like a steal! Of course, that building is gutted currently, isn't it? I hope they have plans for it besides just sitting on top of it. Must be a good sign that sales are perking up around here, though? Bargain basement deals to be had for GOOD buildings.
  16. Man, can you imagine if rail even ENTERED the discussion? How can you be a department of transportation and only talk about cars/trucks?
  17. Friday, January 26, 2007 Another downtown tower is on the block 10:12 a.m. For the sixth time in two years, a downtown Cleveland office tower is being prepared for sale. Eaton Center, the sleek 28-story building at 1111 Superior Ave., should officially hit the market next week, said Gerry Mason of New York's Granite Partners LLC. The real estate investment banking firm is working on behalf of owner KBS Realty Advisors. More at cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com
  18. ^^ It's sort of hard to believe that is worth a story...
  19. ^^That's stupid because the minute you stick traffic lights on the Shoreway, all those Lakewood and Rocky River drivers are going to go a different route, imho.

    haha, that's cute ;)
  21. NICE!! I work in the Halle Building, and that area is looking sore. Is the shoe store sticking around? Also, they're doing work in one of the vacant retail spaces in the Halle building. Unclear what it is they are doing, though.

It sounds like city council will oppose the mayor and keep the abatements going for the immediate future...Am I correct? I don't actually live in Cleveland, so I have no vested financial interest in this, but it seems like the prudent thing to do until Cleveland becomes "hot." Then take them abatements away and bask in tax $$!
  23. Hate to say it, but this sounds incredibily unlikely.

Don't know if there is a better place to talk about the Mayor's "Connecting Cleveland 2020 Citywide Plan" that was debuted today! There's some good stuff in here. What do you think? http://www.city.cleveland.oh.us I'm still reading through this whole thing! It's 123 pages!
