^ What is that butthead talking about, the Heat are looking at a high lottery selection this season. If I were D-wade, I'd be looking for a way out. That team is a mess.

Come on, you're just pulling that out of your butt. Besides on here, how often do you hear someone "condemn" a suburbanite for living an unsustainable life? And why would anything change if "urban core minded people stopped condemning" suburbanites? I don't understand why that would be the tipping point to convince anyone they are living a societally destructive lifestyle. You know damn well suburbanites don't have the faintest idea why you'd want to live downtown. Freaking Lannigan and Malone argue that public transportation is for losers. The real issue has nothing to do with the morals of suburbanites reflected on an individual level. It has to do with their behaviors extrapolated over larger populations, which lead to destruction to our way of life. One kid peeing in the pool won't do much but everybody peeing in the pool turns it yellow; do you want to swim in it? The real goal should be public persuasion to live a sustainable lifestyle. This to me has more to do with conveying cost efficiencies than anything else. When my parents visit me in Lakewood, they always stop at a shop in Rocky River. However, this shop is relocating to downtown Hudson because the shoppers in Rocky River are drying up as the move to far-flung areas like Westlake and Avon and visit less frequently. In Hudson, this business owner hopes there is enough foot traffic and density to sustain his business. Sure, it's your right as an American to live an gigantic house in Avon and drive an entirely over-sized vehicle to work in Beachwood, but why would you want to? P.S. This soccer stadium is a stupid idea, and I've hated it forever. I don't believe public funding of stadiums helps the economy of a region, especially in the case of a third-tier sport aiming to locate right next to a national park. It's entirely inefficient and pisses me off.

hahaha I know the girl who wrote that first story!
  5. I came home on the Rapid last night at around 6:30 p.m., and we moved rather easily to W. 117. Not as fast as the summer, but not too slow. Better than sweating bullets on the Shoreway.

He did an interview with Lannigan and Malone, if you're interested. They say some really stupid stuff, imho: http://a1135.g.akamai.net/f/1135/18227/1h/cchannel.download.akamai.com/18227/podcast/CLEVELAND-OH/WMJI-FM/03-06-08%207hr.mp3?CPROG=PCAST&MARKET=CLEVELAND-OH&NG_FORMAT=oldies&SITE_ID=1891&STATION_ID=WMJI-FM&PCAST_AUTHOR=wmji_production&PCAST_CAT=Comedy&PCAST_TITLE=Lanigan_and_Malone_On_Demand

Heya, this might be the wrong section, but my friend wrote this article: http://www.clevelandmagazine.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=E73ABD6180B44874871A91FBA5C249C&nm=Arts+%26+Entertainemnt&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=1578600D80804596A222593669321019&tier=4&id=7746601AD81747B7A40A86A8733E64F4
  8. That Panera note is wrong. There is a deli in that spot now.
  9. Is it weird then that I've never shopped at a department store? I suppose that probably makes me a "mid-tier" shopper. I hate Kohls and Dillards and can't afford anything in Beachwood Place. But if you go to T.J. Maxx, hollaatachaboy.

I grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, and I would also call MLS in Akron a "big Fish in Little Pond Scenario." It has nothing to do with insulting Akron, it's just a statement of fact. Akron is a smaller city with no pro-franchises. That's not insinuating that Akron sucks, it's just a market fact like saying you want to open a grocery store but one street already has 12 and another has none. Anyway, by the time you get down to Macedonia, where this team has been postulated, you might as well call it Akron because I certainly wouldn't consider it Cleveland.
  11. These commissioners are incompetent. Actually, the entire regional government is incompetent. I saw Hagan on Channel 3 "debating" with Stephanie Tubbs Jones about Barack or Hillary and all I could think is: "How can I vote for either of them if these two dummies support them?" Is there a way to remedy this idiocy?

David, how could you waste his busy time IMing potential models?

Really? My plaster is always falling off the lath. It's more like concrete than plaster, by the way. Well, my house turns 138 this year and the plaster is doing just fine. :) Obviously every old house is going to need maintenance, but I think it can generally be agreed that old houses were built better, which I'm guessing can be attributed to the idea that they'd need to last longer. These days, home building is an exact science, sometimes even made in assembly line fashion. That's a different perspective.
  14. ^ I think we're the only people who know the name of any of the RTA lines, lol ;)
  15. The HealthLine....Well, whatever! It's bringing in some much-needed revenue to RTA, so whatever works!

This guy is a putz. I end up sending him poison pen e-mails at least twice a season. For some reason he and the other dummies love to drag this out: LeBron loves New York. LeBron love Jay-Z. LeBron is leaving Cleveland. LeBron is going to go where he needs to go in order to win. If in two years the Cavs still haven't won it all and their future prospects look crappy, he's going to go where he can get a lot of money and have a solid chance to win. It would be really something to see him in a Brooklyn uniform, but Jason Kidd just stormed out of town because they couldn't put a winner together. They haven't had a decent shot in years. Will they be able to figure it out in time? If LeBron is still craving a championship, is he going to be patient enough to go to another team and do the same thing all over again that he's doing here? There are a lot of other areas where LeBron can team up with Jay-Z. I don't think there is some secret deal to leave. What will be will be. In the meantime, the Cavs needs to keep winning.

^^ Yeah, that sounds awful, so where can I find these women??? ;)

Interesting question. It doesn't have a stigma to me because it has grown so much in popularity. A couple of my very attractive girl friends have tried it out, for example. I've tried it twice: The first time was right out of high school in college, and it was a little "Oh, gee, you don't look anything like that picture you took of yourself......" The second time was actually last year, and it didn't go that bad, but we didn't hit it off. My problem with Internet dating has more to do with logistics. If you want to be with someone, you have to be attracted to them. The most efficient way to determine that is face-to-face, and the most efficient/productive way is to walk up to someone, talk to them and decide if you like them or not. And determine if they like you! With online dating, you've got to go through this long process of nabbing attention and working through communication, and realistically it could take a week or more to meet someone for coffee. So then you get to the coffee shop, know everything about this person but realize you have no sexual attraction at all. I think the best way to do it is to approach women you find attractive, learn a little bit about them and then if you like them and they appear to be showing interest, escalate and then ask them out. All this could take minutes rather than days, and if you get rejected, big deal, you'll probably never see her again. Of course, it sounds easy but it is really the harder method. I think the Internet can be an emasculating crutch and damages your self-esteem when you fail, rather than building it up, like it would if you had asked face-to-face and confronted a fear of rejection.

I'm very happy with this trade. Chicago was an awful fit for Ben Wallace. I know this is petty, but I thought it was ridiculous they wouldn't let me wear a 'fro and headband. They were trying to make him someone he isn't -- he's a bruiser, sitting under that hoop, and that hair is just part of his thing, like Andy's hair flopping around. I am STOKED to see him throw his weight around down low! I am also excited to see the point guard play and how Wally fits into this team. I haven't watched him much since he left the T-Wolves. One point that hasn't been mentioned is this addition through subtraction. We basically dumped all the players who sit and watch LeBron work his magic. Maybe the new blood will be able to create a dynamic environment around him. The NBA is crazy this season.
  20. Movin' on up in the world, I am! One day, I'll be able to afford one of them downtown digs! I really <3 my apartment, but the management company is doing an awful job, and now that I'm commuting to work full-time via transit, I want to be near the Rapid...and the West Side Market. I'd look at Shaker Square, MTS, but my friends all live on the West Side and they'd never come visit me. Brats! Thanks, 3231! I'll keep my eye on that site. The rent didn't look too bad. I can afford a little bit more, but I'd like to be able to pocket more of my raise rather than blow it all on rent. Do those buildings have areas to put your car or is it a free-for-all on the street?
  21. Can anyone tell me a little about what it's like renting in Ohio City? My lease is up at the end of May and am exploring options. I am loving the idea of being within walking distance to the Rapid, West Side Market and the other cool things. I'm a little hesitant because there doesn't seem to be much to rent in the "hub" area, and I'm unsure of the crime level. Of course, an old lady's unit in my building in Lakewood was ransacked this week, so I don't know if it really matters that much... I'd be looking for a 1BR; I pay $650 right now and get heat and water and a parking space in an outdoor lot for the car.

Hmm, good question. Do you mean practice commuting on the roads or riding with our road cyclists in groups (i.e., bike shorts, jerseys, etc.)? If you mean bike shorts riding, Spins in Lakewood has group rides on Wednesdays, which I've heard good things about. I plan to join them this summer. If you're looking for practice commuting, you might try the traffic maps for cyclists, which break down roads by traffic volume. It's helpful when planning routes and rides: http://www.noaca.org/bikemaps.html My friend took a bike mechanics class at the OC Bike Co-Op and he can do all sorts of cool repairs. I think it's worth it.
