what's your opinion on saving facades?
No offense to Cincy because the city looks beautiful from everything I've seen, but that looks like they tacked an ancient triumphal arch to an office building built in 1980 in the suburbs.

did they chop the back of the building off for the expansion? I don't really like it. Of course, hodge-podge isn't anything new. The facade of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella is also a mash-up of different time periods... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Maria_Novella

NFL: General News & Discussion
Every time I see him playing, all I can think about is how he dumped Bridget Moynahan for Gisele Bundchen. Sure, Gisele is super hot, but so is Bridget. I guess what I'm saying is, when you've got two women who are that hot, what's the difference between the two? That, and I think he's a big dummy.

I like gritty/unique character as much as anyone, but I do not do places with gross bathrooms.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
Someone who is smart, didn't the Supreme Court do this in the early days of the United States in order to preserve its power. A president was threatening to run right over them if they didn't rule his way. Rather than get neutered, they went his way, thus preserving their power. I might have gotten that wrong.

No, this wasn't written by the Onion.... This story actually got more space than Iran. LeBron James traveling in fast, dangerous lane Posted by John Caniglia and Branson Wright January 14, 2008 21:00PM Categories: Breaking News, Impact LeBron James downplayed his latest traveling violation Monday, but experts said it could have been fatal. Associated PressLeBron James was ticketed for speeding on Dec. 30. James' 101-mph drive down Interstate 71 on Dec. 30 was too fast for the highway and his 2008 Mercedes, even though the road was straight and conditions were clear, experts said. ... Plain Dealer staffers Jo Ellen Corrigan, Mary Schmitt Boyer and Rich Exner contributed to this story. http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2008/01/lebron_james_traveling_in_fast.html

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
Yes, they are working on the Power House. FYI -- there was some sort of music video filmed over there. The band is called The Audition and I think they are from Chicago. Anyway, Power House is getting worked on and it looks like they might start working on the next set of townhouses. Looking forward to seeing some work start on the tunnel on W 76 and some action on the Pat Catan's building (can't think of the name of the develpment -- Stone Water maybe?) Interesting about the music video. The band appears to be one of those post-emo, pop-rock bands. http://www.myspace.com/theaudition. I wonder if it has anything to do with AP magazine. The band sounds like the style they tend to feature in that pub.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
You should go into the signage business. I like your style. I'm a designer, not a copywriter ;-) You know what what the world needs more of though, right? World-class signage.

Cleveland: LaSalle Theater on E. 185th Street
What's the demographic over there? Would it be worth creating an ethnic culture/language destination for African Americans or Hispanics, etc... For example, I bet a movie theater in Cleveland that only featured Spanish-language movies would probably be a hit. Wow, it'd be neat if the theater only played Spanish-language movies and also had authentic food, drinks, etc. Just throwing ideas out there.

Cleveland: Blonder's Paint Closes
I've never heard of Blonder's Paint before. I would imagine it'd be difficult to be an indie paint dealer anywhere, unless you had a very specialized niche.

Abandoned: Solon: Central Park Lifestyle Center
"the city is designed specifically against that sort of collapse." No city can be designed out of stupidity and incompetence. Solon is a bedroom community that is not near its employment centers, so when people need to drive 40 miles to work and gas is $5 a gallon, they are effed. Add in the fact that NEO's economy stinks in terms of wealth and job creation, and you have yourself a losing proposition. I grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, and when I started school it was great but by the time I left it was falling apart. Just a year or so ago, the buttheads who run the district didn't account for their money correctly and all the sudden programs are getting cut left and right. My nephew is doing open enrollment in another district now. That to me is a sign that everything is all jacked up. Personally, I don't see the Solon development as competition to downtown Cleveland. This is just my opinion but these people flooding the suburbs with retail are just going to shoot themselves in the foot and tank their own market. Beachwood is like 15 minutes away from Solon. What the hell do they need a lifestyle center for?

How does this compare to Vincenza's, the king of pizza by the slice in Cleveland, imho. Besides Bar Cento, Vincenza's is the only decent pizza to be had around here!
