What Are You Riding
Okay, so basically that bike was crap. It broke... I got rid of it and bought this one. They're building it now and it should be ready tomorrow. I'm so excited!

What Are You Riding
Here's what I've got. It's a pretty decent bike considering I didn't want to drop 4 figures for a bike yet.

Random Cincinnati shots in the fall
Once again, these pics are mostly from last fall. East Walnuts Hills Towers along the river Eden Park I love this park with a passion. Perfect enough to be a scene in a movie. Houses lining Hill St. in Mt. Adams. New condo/retail building, Michigan Terrace, at the corner of Michigan and Erie in Hyde Park And a few skyline shots never hurt anybody...

NKY Riverfront shots
Okay, the first topic I've started...These shots are mostly from last fall. Let's get started! Chances are this is one of the most perfect streets in the entire Cincinnati area. I love the weathered look of this brick. The most inviting alley this side of the Atlantic. I found this to be quite interesting. This goes under someone's backyard. Anyone know what it is? I love how much is going on in this pic. These infill townhomes have a nice view of the Licking and Ohio Rivers. Greenup Cafe We're back to daytime. And I'll end it on a warmer note.

A Tale of Three Capitals '07
The Nationwide building always feels so powerful. I'm not in love with the architecture but something about it feels tough.

GOOGLE: All Day, All Night, All Nice
That royally bugged me for a long time about the crappy google satellite shots of Dayton but Yahoo has a decent one now. Their satellite shots aren't quite as crisp as most of Googles but I'll take that over nothing.

The Steps of Cincinnati
Hey that was me on the cover of that issue of the Downtowner! They spelled my name incorrectly though...

Cincinnati: Urban Pioneers
Wow, they're doing basically everything I want to—restoring historical buildings. I bought and have started reading a real estate book, but that's the furthest I've gotten at this point.

Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"
And I'm a rule breaker so here's one more pic. It's my latest view shot. It has a bit more contrast than the last.
-
Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"
This loses a lot of the detail at this size but I made a 6' wide print of this. It's a handful of pix merged together.

Dayton: "Downtown's just fine."
"as downtown Dayton's ears ring with recent announcements of departures, including those of MeadWestvaco Corp., The Dayton Daily News and NewPage Corp" I don't know that I'd call those recent... but I guess recalling anything bad that's happened downtown makes for a more dramatic story.

STICKY: What do you want to see???
Yeah, I've thought maps would be great for a long time. Are people still interested in this? I'd like to know geographically where the neighborhood lies that I'm looking at (in the photos section). Maybe you could have a map instead of the list of neighborhood names. I already have a Dayton neighborhood map drawn out on my site. I have a Cincy one just like this I'd be more than willing to send along. I have nothing for the other 3 big cities though.

Dayton: Webster Station: Development and News
It looks Citywide is going to help out some with the financing of the Merc. Here's a little snippet from the Business Courier.

Churches of Middletown
Church #2 (St. John's Catholic Parish) looks almost dead-on like the church where Burkhardt hits 5th St. in Dayton.

Are those originally from How to Live Well Without Owning a Car?

How Europeans view US cities
A lot of the things they were saying are true and the truth can be painful to hear. But I love a good skyline, always will. Am I the only one that saw a few weird things though?? What's up with people saying Chicago is dangerous because we got Al Capone running the streets? I just thought that was weird. That's like me saying those Nazis in Germany just eat sausage and drink beer all day (which is totally false). I'm sure I'm going to have a few people roughing me up for this comment but take it easy on me.

Ohio Education / School Funding Discussion
Schools solution still on horizon Budget only first step toward funding fix, Strickland says; lawmakers look over plan Wednesday, March 21, 2007 3:36 AM By Mark Niquette and Jim Siegel THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH Ted Strickland, who has staked his success as governor on solving the state's school-funding problem, says changes in his proposed budget are a significant step in that direction. But Strickland made it clear yesterday that he considers the budget only a start -- and that he continues to meet with a variety of groups to develop a funding plan. And although the new governor made school funding a centerpiece of his campaign this past fall, he refused to be pinned down on a timetable for taking action despite GOP jibes. "Our goal is to stay at it in an incremental way until we get to the point where we believe the system has achieved a level of fairness, and equity and state support that would be consistent with what the courts would determine to be a constitutional system."
