The Dayton Banana
That's pretty sad to see. That shot of Research Park with Dayton in the background was awesome. I can't comprehend that Reynolds & Reynolds built that flipping humongous building out there. They could've built the tallest building in the center of downtown and actually have done a lot of good for the city. Dayton would really be chugging along if even half of those places could've been lured to the city or convinced to stay. You showed a picture of where my dad works—Kodak (formerly Scitex) in Research Park.

Dayton T Shirt
Top 10 cities for intestine disorders. Sorry to disappoint but it wasn't about any real list. It's just for a quick laugh. You guys are way more inquisitive than average people. I don't think anyone else has even asked!

Dayton: Skyline shots from two locations taken on 7/20/07
I think Dayton looks best from 35 going West or the ramp from 75 North going to 35 East. Here's from the ramp.

CIN or NoKY: Who is winning the development race?
We're going to have some gang warfare on here next. NKY vs. Nati! I think NKY is doing a better job on a timeline. It certainly doesn't take them as long to get things rolling. I can understand that Cincinnati is bigger and has to play by a tougher set of rules though (the Banks...). Even as far as potential goes, I'll give NKY a pretty high ranking. Newport and Covington have loads of beautiful old buildings just waiting to be rehabbed. Until recently I hadn't been too deep down into the two. It's been a mindblower for sure. Cincinnati has more buzz. How couldn't it? Especially recently as new clubs and restaurants have been opening downtown with lines going out the doors. The new Fountain Square is a hit as well. I love that they're playing movies on the huge screen on Saturday nights. There's good and bad development in each. The Banks will crush Ovation in looks though. I guess I have no clear "winner" here... They both go pretty hand-in-hand.

Walkable Communities
Here's what came up for me when I just type in the city name and state: 1. Dayton - 87 2. Cleveland - 84 3. Columbus - 75 4. Cincinnati - 73 5. Toledo - 64 As much as I would love to think that Dayton scores 87 I know there's no way. This thing is jacked up.

Some Grit On The Edge of Dayton's Downtown
I read that CityWide will be working with the developer of the Merc this year. They're going to help with the financing in some way.

Huber Heights Poverty Pocket
Yeah, I know exactly where you're talking about. We called it Little KY too. It's right around that school Spinning Hills.

Eaton, Ohio: Seat of Preble County
That's what I was thinking. It seems like the place is fairly well-cared for and even most store fronts were full.

Aspects of the Dayton Arcade: Prehistory-The Arcade Block in the 19th Century
It's a shame the Kuhns building is missing that nice tower on its Main St. side.

Huber Heights Poverty Pocket
I'd be interested in seeing the other parts of Huber Heights that aren't so crappy—especially the really mod looking houses.

Piqua, Ohio
From the pics, I think the city looks in fairly decent shape actually. I guess I'm the only one.

Riverside: National Museum of the USAF
Not sure I like that new hotel but it looks better in the up-close shot. I love that old house. It's a shame it's in that kind of shape. I hate when old houses like that are divided up into apartments too.

Eastward Ho! ...to Daytons suburban frontier.
Ah, Beavercreek. I have such a love hate relationship with the suburbs. There's no doubt they're pleasant. But they have none of the character the city does. And in Dayton, there's absolutely no need for them—the MSA isn't increasing. I can't believe the state Lofino Plaza is in. It would seem that some sort of stores would want to be in there. It's not a bad area at all. I'd bet that if it were spruced up a bit there'd be some willing takers.

Some of those look so good they make me want to go and buy some gas right now! That shell-shapped one was insane

Where's Forest Park Plaza? Is it still around?

Dayton's oldest surviving shopping center--McCook (+ one or two others)
I love this thread! I'm amazed how well Page Manor is still doing, especially compared to McCook. It's in pretty good shape and doesn't seem like it's going to die off any time soon. The theatre is another story though... How does Airway Shopping Center fit into the story?

Norwood: Development and News
ForeverGlow replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionReading through this stuff makes me want to jack that guy in the face. Him owning a rental house in the middle of a chained-off field is more important than the city of Norwood not sinking. I’ve never seen such selfishness!! I hate that he sits there and says that he’s doing this because he believes in the cause. Like he cares about eminent domain. Just give him his $1,000,000 and tell him to shut up. Sorry, I just get aggravated. These sort of people are making it so hard and undesirable for developers to invest in urban areas. Good going buddy, you’re really making the world a better place with your heart felt and deep rooted values. :whip: :whip:
