  1. Have any candidates even talked much about the streetcar this year?
  2. The main reason Strickland got in as a Dem the first time was because he had the key to Appalachia. No Democrat is going to get that in 2022 so why bother. Yes Appalachian cities might still have Dem mayors here and there but once you get out of the parts with 3-5 story buildings and walkable town centers the fun's over again. And even if someone builds some buzz in Portsmouth, Steubenville doesn't know who they are. You can probably get to Lima faster from both. Strickland was in a very unique position due to his age and being high-profile throughout the state for so long. Get the people in the cities to make sure and show up. What's changed as opposed to the (now getting more distant) past? Lack of organized labor. And the rabbit ears don't even work in half or more of the area so that means satellite TV and constant flipping between Fox News, Pawn Stars and Storage Wars. Near-dead newspapers and IHeartRadio stations that are either Nu-Country or some mix of '70s/'80s rock.
  3. DeWine would crush Cranley like a paper cup.

  11. Oh man would that be wild if somebody opened up a strip club in the Short North today. Bring back the exhaust shop with the Muffler Man out front too.
  12. I'd argue she has better name recognition in all Ohio counties except three. On UO, Cranley's might be higher but it's negative.
  13. Upper Arlington was pretty Republican 30 years ago. But when the Rs dropped the Connecticuts for the Harley Guys it flipped.
  14. What we're getting is way better. And what they didn't know in the '60s that we learned in the '80s was that if you dredge the Scioto it will fill right back up again. So no powerboating hub.
  15. It really was a gulag even if the main building had a nice facade. It really stuck out in the shiny, new cleaned-up Columbus of the late 1980s. Frankly it looked like it should have been torn down by the '50s. The walls were very imposing and it was unpleasant to drive past, especially on Neil Avenue. The whole area looked scummy and couldn't be made nice like most other old buildings can,
  16. Shouldn't we also put our rainy day percentage up there too? For transparency.

    It's all branding.
  20. Are there the kind of supply problems in the drug business that are seen in just about every other type of business these days?

Hmm, with Cincinnati blessed with so many NBDs that's a possibility.
  23. Bexley isn't so much of NIMBYs now as compared to when Jay Leno was beating them up every night for blocking the demo of the porn theater in the early '90s.
  24. Under design-build, things start when they start.
  25. It looks like Indianapolis' and Dayton's old surface street outerbelts from the '50s.
