It's almost like Facebook is so Republican that it's using its algos to make a mockery of "cancel culture" "PC" and "SJW". Like "Look we made a PC algo to show everyone how stupid it is". And DO NOT make fun of white people on there. If you say "white trash" on there you are done.

That's exactly how newspapers were though. Them and TV/radio were the gatekeepers. Don't expect TV or radio to just let anyone on either. Public Access did but you had to take classes to learn how to use the equipment. And for those who don't know, we haven't had Public Access for over 15 years in Columbus. And it's unlikely to come back since few people have cable TV anymore which means less funding and exposure. When they cut the funding to Public Access in Columbus in 2003 or whatever already enough people had cut the cord due to VHS/DVD, video games and 'net surfing. Or maybe it was because of Damon Zex

Electric Cars
It's hard to tell, R/C batteries haven't gotten any cheaper since lithium hit in 2006 or so. Unless you get some sketchy no-name one on ebay shipped from China that seems like it's always ready to blow and goes bad in half the time of a good one. What I do know is that lithium demand has dispatched the entire 3rd World into finding lithium deposits in the past few years. They're finding a lot.

Tax refunds and processing are indeed quite slow this year, both federal and Ohio. But so far they are within the "expected window" still. Also a lot of people are expecting the $1400 part of the stimulus to come soon. I can tell it's going on too long since the amount of stuff people sell us is going way up while our sales are flat.

I have a suspicion that the reason there is so much "resistance" to rail transit in Ohio is due to the auto factories here. Both GM and Ford have built components here for a very long time. Honda builds cars here, but does Honda lobby against rail transit like the American companies do? I don't know. Arizona doesn't have that dynamic.

Columbus: Downtown: Discovery District / Warehouse District / CSCC / CCAD Developments and News
GCrites replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionGinther doesn't care about Downtown like Coleman did. Downtown is "Fine" and is merely where his office is to him. Trying to revive lost cause retail corridors from the 1960s is more his concern. It takes so long to drive through that crap in order to get to the parts of town you need to be that we're better off making the city multi-nodal like Cincinnati with NBDs rather than trying to make sure every inch of the city has activity. That way where you are is where you need to be or it's Downtown. Give up on that strip mall with the old Schottenstien's and SupeRX that moved out to the 5000 block in 1981.

GCrites replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAnd it's not even like Broad was made to "empty the city out" at 5pm. It's just that wide. If you spend a lot of time living elsewhere that doesn't have streets like Broad and E. Livingston you feel like you're in the Wild West when you come back to Columbus. Like that day I saw a tumbleweed blowing down Livingston at Alum Creek. Like, where do you find a tumbleweed in Ohio? It's almost like it fell off of a truck on I-70 coming in from Colorado.

"They" were people around the business school and it probably was some kind of inside joke.

I wonder if in 1983 or whatever AMC tanked the day Jeep lost the new mail truck to Grumman.

That's what they call it -- the helipad. I've never seen it used either and it's had those tables since at least 2006. It has a circular cut in the brick as if they could rotate the center. Also lights built into the surface if I remember right. The only thing is, wouldn't the rotor wash be hard on those windows and doors? Harder to land a helicopter with that wall there too.

When do you think the last time was that it was used? I figured they just used the ones on the medical campus now.

Chillicothe / Ross County: Developments and News
The city is actually only 21K. The reason Bridge St. seems so active is twofold. 1 )Surrounding counties have very little retail; this also includes the rest of the county itself. 2) It never got a mall so the stores and parking take up a lot more space than they normally would. Sears, Elder-Beerman and JCPenney are/were all standalone or strip mall. You have/had a lot of other stores that would have been inline tenants in the mall if there was one. They would have all shared parking if there was a mall and that would have reduced the retail parking footprint greatly. When they were handing out small town malls in the '80s, Chillicothe/Ross County's population was too low to get a mall in contrast to Lancaster and Licking County which did get malls. Also the mall anchors had already built standalone locations.

I use the Your Money Page payroll tax calculator at https://yourmoneypage.com/withhold/oh.php It automatically updates with all that stuff and is free with ads. You can also create a login so you can save the info for historical purposes. It has saved me a ton of time over the years and you don't have to pay for the software like with QuickBooks.
