Just like D.A.R.E. where if you smoke weed, you die. Cops don't realize that when they oversell like this they lose all credibility. They do it in court too so if anyone on a jury has ever worked in sales they immediately discount what the cop is saying. When you oversell you lose the sale.
  3. Auto dependence leads to housing shortages.
  4. Ha, Like in Police Academy 2 which had scenes that were filmed at the abandoned old L.A. Zoo. When I heard that I was like, "That's their OLD zoo?" Everyplace else's old zoo would have just been cages back then.
  5. With that strong report I suppose people are optimistic that they'll be able to use their welder tech in charging infrastructure that Uncle Sam is building all over the country so that there aren't all these gaping holes in the charging network such as Appalachia, the Mountain West and even NW Ohio. Right now you usually have to find a university or Harley dealership to charge in those areas.
  6. Go to Mexico to see what private toll roads are like. Oftentimes they're right next to the public roads. Talk about income inequality. If a road in the U.S. has the suffix "Pike" that usually means it was a private toll road at some point.
  7. I had never seen that "last train" footage from 1977 before.
  8. That's where they have a lot of the big car shows. There's pictures of cars all over the internet with those buildings in the background.
  9. Oh, I'm going to say something nasty now: It looks like a medical campus because the only large scale developments outside of cities around here for 70 years have been hospitals
  10. This doesn't involve the 3C+D line, but instead the Chicago-Pittsburgh line. It would be a second rail connection for the Columbus metro: Dublin passenger rail? Suburbs and small towns seek to be part of Ohio's Amtrak expansion Another proposed Amtrak route would connect Pittsburgh and Chicago through Columbus. It's that route that the city of Dublin wants to be on. A CSX Transportation track passes through the western portion of Dublin, where the city owns 100 acres near state Route 161 and Houchard Road. https://www.dispatch.com/story/business/2024/02/12/dublin-and-crestline-want-amtrak-stations-as-ohio-seeks-passenger-rail/72367470007/ edit: To clarify, Dublin seems more serious about it than the other Columbus 'burbs proposed.
  11. The purple and orange 3D glasses that came with pop so you couldn't use regular red and blue 3D glasses you had sitting around the house already. You had to do the pop promotion. There may have been Elvis impersonation as well.

Hmmm, I wonder if I ever went inside as a kid then. Too long ago I guess. We moved out of Franklin County in 1991.
  14. People hate driving so much that they pay $35 for fast food worth $9 delivered just so they don't have to drive for 10 minutes. This is capitalism at work under the current system.

They make people jump through as many hoops as VCRs and video rental did.

Crap, I used to know. Some manufacturer. It really wasn't that long ago that the building came down. Late '90s?
  17. It's amazing how easily bus service gets cut since the '90s when reliable used cars were available for under $500, everyone had their driver's license from age 16 on and most people still liked cars. Now cars that run are minimum $3000, people don't get their license until they're 25 and all you have to do is fart when the wind is wrong for them to take it. And cars are considered just another bill for existing like health insurance.
  18. I bet a lot of BofA's mortgages are in the South with them being in Charlotte and all. Swinging the towel.
  19. Those people live in like Commercial Point and Washington Court House

  21. I don't know if UC is as hell-bent on getting the maximum amount of commuter students in and out of the main campus super easily as they were 15 years ago. It seems that UC has shifted to focusing more on traditional age students at the main campus and recommending the branches to commuters/non-trads. Good urbanism is key to attracting traditional students these days. Oh and a lot of international students don't come from car-culture nations so the whole idea of having to buy a car and learn to drive on top of everything else...
  22. Oooo, they should have especially saved the one hall with 8-foot ceilings
