Looking on Streetview my god was this building unremarkable. I would have had it put in my will to not have my funeral there.

Probably had to do with the skeletons and such they had to remove first.

The Appalachian and other rural schools got their state money for new schools in the 2000s/early 2010s. In that time a lot of the suburban schools started to "age" so state money started to flow for those later on. Some probably had to pass levies but others did not. With the rural schools the chances of passing levies was low in most cases and so much land is only on CAUV or even wooded land taxes a levy might not even help much. It really changes the math for these rural school districts that have little to no property tax base from being mostly farmland or in the case of Appalachia, wooded hillsides, flood plains and inexpensive houses.

Right, most people get excited that they "picked us" since they don't realize that we always get picked for this kind of stuff.

Columbus has annexed very little since 2000. And much of that was Scioto Downs.

Not just California's project. Trying to keep projects from happening here in Ohio as well.

I don't know what programs they have but healthcare and business at most schools dwarf everything else so that's tough as well.

Malls aimed at the middle class in the US are the ones who are hurting most since that's a shrinking cohort and they are the most obsessed with internet buying. Easton is aimed at upper-middle class and up.

Talk about an industry that expects everyone else to do everything for them. Cars are expensive as hell, they take people's drivers' licenses away for farting and they get left with that. Then Republicans run around with a snare drum yelling "Absolutely No Trains!"

They were probably on the Autism spectrum. Let's say they were in the store and you had two copies of the same tape with one in front of the other then a couple more inches to the next pair of tapes. They can't just be like "Oh, I see, they stack them." No they have to move each tape to verify that a different tape isn't hiding behind the front one. But the whole idea of everyone whizzing around in their cars every other night having to pick up then return all of these tapes and video games just to keep from being bored out of their minds every night does sound kind of wasteful now.

If it's going to have that many hotel rooms, especially near a college campus, it needs to have good transit. People remember when they get $35 Uber bills every time they need to go to campus.

In farming it's been around for quite a while at 4mph with almost no variables. Roads aren't like that.

There were parts of Columbus like that too but they were more suburban style rather than the prewar stuff. A buddy of mine sold a 3BR well-maintained split level for $44k in 2014. It just sold again for $210k with loitering going down the last time he drove past.

Just another way you lose a massive amount of freedom the minute you get into a car. They can do anything they want to you when you are inside one.
