Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
It's about race to some people. Things involving minorities that aren't about race can become about race anyway even if they didn't start that way. Especially if it makes for good ratings. Look at Youtube comments on videos featuring minorities. 95% of the videos aren't about race; instead they're just people doing stuff or talking about whatever. But scroll down to the comments and look at what people turn it into.

Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
Once you get away from the old campus between Clifton Ave. and Nippert Stadium, UC is a total mess. I get so upset when the "campus" wins architectural awards. Everything is floating out there even more randomly than new colleges like NKU or Wright State, and what is floating is all B-sides to famous singles. The Vontz Center is probably the worst Frank Gehry building in the world. It floats at that corner like a half-filled helium balloon in a parking lot. Nobody uses the green space and I don't think I've ever seen somebody walk in or out of the building. The lights are never on at night. I remember when all that construction was underway in the late 90s and early 2000s hoping that I was wrong. I'm just amazed that a decade removed from the bulldozers so few people are willing to say the campus sucks out loud. I'll say it! I liked Shawnee State's and Marshall's campuses better even though they are considered "inferior" by the starchitecture and landscape urbanism crowd. I never connected with UC like I did my other schools. And I can tell OSU was also way better before 1965 then it is now.

That landscape urbanism between Linder and the sisters isn't doing anybody any good.

Why are young people driving less?
I don't think those ads are actually aimed at young people, rather the same old middle-age to elderly suburbanites and rural dwellers. It doesn't speak in Millennial language but the same old Rush-speak instead. More doubling down and rallying the base from the Right.

"OK, so why aren’t conservatives cool? Gutfeld makes a valid point: 'From my experience being around conservatives, it’s extremely frustrating how dismissive they are of ‘weird’ things, and that hurts them.' Gutfeld chooses the music that backs his segments on “The Five” and “my choices are never met with ‘That’s good’ or ‘That sucks.’ It’s always rewarded with anguished looks on the other panelists’ faces and the two-word review, ‘That’s weird.’ ” That's right, conservatives need to stop having to be on the "winning" team all the time and only praise things that have "won" such as nu-country, classic rock and giant corporate entitles. Perhaps if the Right actually did win all the time it would make more sense.

We're doing it, just slowly. Think of all the things that have gone metric over the past 40 years: The military, cars, science/medical, liquor, the U.S. Forest Service, computers.

What a day for a Harvard alum to upset Cincinnatians.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
The Cranley position is bad for business and the CBC knows it. He's also trying to pretend that the presence of extensive rail doesn't elevate the status of the bus system.

Sharonville: Princeton PHS/PCMS New School
A buddy of mine used to joke about driving past there when school let out in a convertible to look up girls' skirts as they crossed the overpass.

Banning hazardous material through-traffic like Columbus has would cut semi traffic significantly. If you've ever wondered what the "HC" or "HM" signs are on I-270 exit signs, now you know.

Yeah, it takes somebody in a suit and tie to do that!- Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Remember that a lot of other states have county schools rather than local schools and don't tie school funding to property taxes like Ohio does. So they don't have these "wrong side of the tracks" school district splits like living on the border of Driving Park and Bexley. Or they periodically move the borders of the various schools as the headcounts at various buildings change, like they do in New York.- Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion

One of the best ways to avoid car break-ins is to retain the factory stereo. I'm lucky that in most ways the things I like aren't popular with criminals. I see people whose tastes are the same as criminals get stuff stolen constantly.- Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)

That's been a bar in some form for at least 100 years. At one time it was called Bott's Billards and later The Clock. There was a large ornate clock in front of it until the early 2000s or so. I don't know how long they've been brewing their own beers; probably less than 10 years. I do believe it doubled as an oyster place back in oyster houses' sketchy days around the turn of the last century. Coldayman, ink, JYP and I had a mini-meet there about a year ago.- Off Topic
When a friend of mine was a talk show host in Fort Wayne, we used to make fun of farmers who thought cows could tell time. We briefly had year-long DST during one of the 1970s energy crises, and a lot of kids were indeed going to school in the dark. Some parents even told the school their kids were going to be late, period. I was lucky enough to get moved to one of those middle and high schools where the school day starts at night all winter long. Teens are so naturally full of energy very early in the morning you know.- Why are young people driving less?
This is the kind of stuff young people are coming up with about driving. You didn't see this in the "driving down the street in your Trans Am and getting flagged down by a random girl who gives you a BJ" days. http://www.buzzfeed.com/qwantz/driving-video-game - Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
