I live 100 miles away and know the streetcar is good for the whole state, let alone Cincinnati.

DINO DINO DINO The worst part is that a lot of Democrats who voted him in have never even heard of the concept of DINOs.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Florida is the #1 state for out-migration from Ohio, but it's also the #1 state for in-migration TO Ohio. I suspect this is a lot of old retirees, though it does seem like quite a few end up coming back. Also a lot of younger people tapping out and coming back as they found out moving to Florida didn't turn to be the cure-all hard reset they expected.

Hmmm yes, ability to change is a mark of a statewide election (Senate) winner, where as unwavering belief systems can do well in small geographical races such as the House.

The original Wendy's on E. Broad closed a few years ago and got turned into a library for the Catholic Church, I believe. There was also another one at High and Spring that closed in the early 2000s.

Derek Bauman sounded good on Scott Sloan today. Yes, I have found a way to tune in WLW on my home stereo up here without having to assume the Fox Network Antenna Viewing Positions from Married With Children with foil surrounding the antenna and Kelly holding a cable from the top of the stairs

A Road Is A Road To Socialism Road
Today's economy is actually pretty normal. The sprawl machine running at full steam regardless of demand or people's ability to afford it was not.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Yes I've never really understood why here in the States we're so big on cops "sneaking up on people" by wearing dark or business-type clothing, not wearing hats at all times and driving cars that blend in with asphalt and other cars. Other countries make their officers a lot more visible even if there are fewer of them by allowing them to stick out.

The way the reporter said "FAILURE" near the end was high impact for sure.

That doesn't really sound unreasonable, but the whole notion of having to produce a minimum amount of material or face a fine is very odd. Like if you only ate produce and fresh meat and didn't buy many consumer products for a while you get in trouble. Remember the 3R's are Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in that order. Well, screw the first two R's if you get fined for doing them.

This. Also, no drive-throughs in Downtowns, which of course is a big moneymaker. Nowadays, fast-food joints simply aren't profitable unless they can go full-steam ahead with all aspects of their business including breakfast, coffee and late-night. Columbus used to have all kinds of fast food Downtown in the '80s too. Now there's just a bunch of Subways and one McDs off to the side with a drive-through which is 100% suburban in design. So even with all the open space in DT Columbus the fast-food thing is over. Other factors to consider is the changing tastes of urban dwellers and the demise of the one-hour lunch. Very high foot traffic locations in 24-hour areas like seen in NYC can still be profitable.

Hipsters
In Berlin? They're all over but especially in Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Prenzlauerberg, and Neukolln. West Berlin to the west of the Tiegarten is less hipster and more upscale, particularly around the Kurfurstendamm (Berlin's main shopping street). I spent some time a few years back over by the Zoo which is indeed west of the Tiergarten and near the Kurfurstenstrasse and saw few hipsters if any -- just stuff like the Ferrari dealership so yep, that's the info I was looking for. Hipsters really love all that old Soviet and Eastern Bloc stuff don't they?

Change of administration risk has always been on the minds of companies that do business with the government and their investors. Many of the companies, such as engineering consultants, are private. The publicly-traded L-3 Communications (military and surveillance communications equipment) tanked when Obama took office due to fears of Obama pulling out of all military actions but has more than recovered since the Obama administration cranked up the surveillance. But the fear by companies and investors has certainly cranked up big time with these bombastic changeovers that remind me of when Pink took office in "The Wall". What it means is companies demanding more and more penalties for stopping projects.

Hipsters
Weellllllllllllllll, I was on 670 today and heard some I Want You coming out of the radio (CD 102.5 to be exact). The band Washed Out sampled the song on their tune "Feel it all Around" about 4 years ago (2009 was the landmark year for Americans discovering '80s Italo Disco). Apparently the Washed Out song was big with hipsters according to Youtube comments.
