Are we getting way too overprotective?
Perhaps people like the game of soccer. Soccer isn't any more un-American than football. 100 years ago, there was baseball and there was everything else. We had a real cornucopia of sports back then, but of course a lot of people make it try to sound like the USA was founded in 1950.

NFL: General News & Discussion
Obviously, auto racing has been popular since the second car was built and up until about 10 years ago drivers constantly died during the events. Safety technology has definitely improved greatly since Dale Earnhardt died and NASCAR drivers are much less likely to die or be seriously injured. IndyCar, F1 and smaller series still see occasional visits from the reaper. Yet the events continue to happen weekly throughout the warmer months. And auto racing still has its share of former drivers with neurological problems such as Ernie Irvan and even one of my old high school teachers.

Vintage Columbus Facebook Page
Most of them probably don't live here any more. Not many people spend their entire lives in Columbus. Seems like a lot of the comments start out like "What is here now? I live in Florida."

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
Fair enough, sometimes when people refer to Queesgate they mean the housing north of 71, NE of Winchell Ave. For sure a lot of that light industrial has seen better days if it hasn't been razed already. If that's what kjbrill meant, I apologize.

I was thinking the same thing when that happened. Wonder how many millions changed hands because of that one play? This morning, a CD 102.5 DJ said it was between $3-4 million.

Uh oh, secondary colors? How un-American! The only colors we're supposed to see are red, black, silver and white. That kind of whimsicality is sure to make hipsters show up. ;)

You missed his point entirely. It's better to tear down an area where a bunch of poor people live instead.

Ha, I thought that final TD would be kind of a moot point, but in that case it's not!

Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Projects & News
In Ohio, yes, that is the case. The same bill that changes limited access highways in rural areas to 70 sets 60 as the default speed for rural numbered roads. And yes, it is a part of the Tea Party obsession of keeping that number in front of them as high as possible, regardless of whether it will actually get them there any faster due to the unlimited number of variables that happen during a trip on a non-limited-access two-lane road. But we do know it makes those two lanes more dangerous, especially for those not in automobiles. Tractors, bikes, pedestrians, mailmen, deer -- screw them. I want this damn speedo to say the number I want! Some stretches are OK at 60, but a lot of them aren't. And I don't really mind the 70 limit on rural Interstates.

Anytime you don't have a reasonable response you just accuse someone of trolling. Get's a little tiring after awhile. No, it's because you seem to have a single-minded obsession about flow and "conjestion". It seems that in your mind (by your posting history) that the prime directive of society is to maximize flow and eliminate "conjestion" at all costs. That's generally not the rest of society's goal, just yours.- What is going on in Peebles?
