Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
The City of Columbus and its inner-ring 'burbs having its own district will help prevent the outer 'burbs from bullying us.

Ohio Smoking Ban
It's easy for someone to chalk up the drop in tobacco consumption to the smoking ban exclusivity -- but that's not the whole story. Throughout the course of 2008, most developed nations passed legislation mandating Fire Safe Cigarettes (FSCs). Cigarettes now must extinguish themselves after 30 seconds to one minute of inactivity. In order to do this, the cigarette companies had to add gross chemicals in them such as used in rollbar padding glue. They've gotten really nasty as compared to before, make you cough a lot more and stink way worse than older smokes. FSCs drag you down and are even more expensive. Light smoking's not fun like it was in the '90s.

Whoops, looks like some posts got removed. Now it looks like I was telling anybody who uses LinkedIn that they have no hiring influence at their companies.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect a full ballpark in a small market on weekdays in early summer when it's 97 degrees with a threat of nasty storms every day even with a winning team.

Ways Ohio can become a high growth state.
People from the coasts lose their minds laughing when we talk about going to the beach. They have no idea that our reservoirs have beaches on them.

Pet Peeves!
MySpace is a 2007 time capsule. It's actually quite fascinating. If the servers are still up in 20 years they can almost make it like a "Your life in 2007" novelty page.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
That pro-streetcar editorial in the Enquirer seemed pretty confident that it wouldn't become law.

They could put in an Acacia Avenue and make the main address 22. ba-dum-pum I fear that I'm the only one here who will get my joke.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Well, it does seem that fast food chains and child-accommodating restaurants with liquor licenses such as Applebee's and O'Charley's have really waylaid the family restaurants of old such as Howard Johnson's, Elby's, Shoney's Denny's etc. and their non-chain counterparts.

enjoy! :banger:  http://www.metalunderground.com/news/details.cfm?newsid=74390 OK, I've been listening to metal since I was little. Now all of sudden after this discussion I've found myself saying "Me-tal" too. This "Me-tal" talk is about how people in Cleveland say "Me-tal" rather than pronouncing it "Meddle" like folks downstate do and I always did before. Just need to listen to more All Sides with Ann Fisher to really tune in my Cleveland accent.- US Economy: News & Discussion
And you can do that. It only becomes an issue when the whole market is affected. With all due respect, that's probably not an option for you. LOL, don't I wish it was!- US Economy: News & Discussion
Psssst -- sometimes when I have a few extra copies of Mario 3 at work I hide some of them rather than lower their price. You didn't hear that from me.- Rural Ohio Question
Welcome to UO, my name is Gordon Pfalzgraf Crites. My mother's side of the family is from Round Bottom which is a Clarington address and spent a considerable amount of weekends and vacations in the area during my youth. While I don't have any specific knowledge regarding this type of situation, the fact that it is currently located in a public right-of-way, is not hooked up to any utilities and is has no claim of ownership or rental on the space it occupies leads me to believe that it may be merely cargo and not a dwelling at this time. But I'll second natininja's suggestion of speaking with an attorney since I sure am not one. If you've got time, poke around a bit in the photo sections. We do celebrate Ohio's small towns on this site and I know there's a Woodsfield photo thread on here. Many of us grew up in these small towns and rural areas and still have personal connections in them.- Why is the "D-word" censored on this forum? Not the "D-word" you'd think
I've noticed several times that forumers have had trouble posting a certain "D-word" in this forum. A "D-Word" that was the last name of a gentleman named Walt who opened a Land where you would go to meet Mickey Mouse. Is there any reason in particular that this man and his company may not be mentioned here? Or is it some kind of bug?- Greater Columbus COTA News & Discussion

Man, the covers on el cheapo DVDs from the dollar store are hilarious. I just got "The Pride of Jesse Hallam", the 1981 Johnny Cash movie where he moves to Cincinnati. Of course, when they made the cover, they just Google Image Searched a picture of Cincinnati and Photoshopped a still of Johnny Cash from the movie onto it. So you've got a 1981 picture of Johnny next to Great American Ballpark and the Freedom Center.- Show a pic of yourself!
What's interesting about this is people today always try to look like they're on their way to the beach (3 seasons a year, anyway). Thing is, you were at the beach. If you took someone from 1995 even and plopped them down on the street today that's the first question they'd ask -- "Is it Memorial Day weekend?"- Urban Ohio "Picture Of The Day"
If those were in Cincinnati, they'd definitely have those little orange light poles on them.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
What TIGER-III grant for the streetcar was announced today? The third paragraph of this article about road projects near Rickenbacker seems to indicate that there was one announced today. I can't find anything on the Enquirer's site. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/06/19/pickaway-county-receives-grant-for-east-west-corridor.html - Off Topic
