  1. Best Places to Work if You Don't Value Your Soul
  2. Crap, I forgot to turn mine off. I, for one, welcome our reptilian overlords
  3. I think we're seeing the effects of certain cities being on prospective immigrants' radar at certain times. When immigration restrictions hit during the Depression most immigrants came from Europe -- Western and Central Europe for the most part. That's when Cleveland and Cincinnati were hot. Then you have 40 years of immigration being severely limited. When restrictions started lifting in the '60s, Cincinnati was no longer on the radar and the countries people were coming from were vastly different. You start seeing the Eastern Europeans and Latinos coming then later people from Africa and the Caribbean.
  4. I worry far more about bad networking than "bad schools" and "bad teachers".
  5. Township zoning laws? I know there are some billboards in Franklin County. I think one for Cracker Barrel. Once you get inside 270 you've got the old dump that was a golf course for a while then Berliner Park. So that's why there aren't any there. For the short while you're in Pickaway it's mostly the bulldozed rest areas.
  6. I just hope that the states can get enough of them together to nullify the Electoral College since that's the only way Republicans win the White House so much.
  7. There are currently so many road projects underway and in the pipeline throughout the metro that construction companies aren't even bidding on smaller projects such as the OH-762 roundabout in Pickaway County which has even already been designed.
  8. Let's privatize everything so those kinds of kids get sent straight into the working world instead

It will be interesting to see how AI will affect college enrollment. If AI makes it where only blue-collar jobs exist how much will that de-motivate prospective students?
  11. Ohio -- Anything But Rail Ohio Taxpayers Will Help Pay For 'Flying Taxi' Dream Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recently announced that a startup would be making hundreds of flying taxis in the state State officials are saying that Joby will create over 2,000 jobs for the area, but those jobs come at a pretty penny for Ohio and its taxpayers. State officials are being extra generous. While Joby will invest $447.5 million another $203 million is coming from Ohio and $93 million from Ohio’s Department of Development Tax Credit Authority through a job creation tax they’re considering. Another $110 million from a JobsOhio grant that will also help Joby attract talent needed to build experimental flying taxis. Joby plans to build up to 500 flying taxis a year at the Dayton site. Construction of the site is set to start in 2024 with the facility fully opening in 2025. Joby claims its air taxis will be able to carry a pilot plus four other passengers and can fly up to 200 mph with a range of 100 miles. https://jalopnik.com/ohio-taxpayers-will-help-pay-for-flying-taxi-dream-1850855683
  12. If people saw they replaced the old hotel with that (without the 30 year gap in between) they would be unhappy to say the least.
  13. They are the least valuable team in major league sports -- right behind the Blue Jackets.
  14. Columbus has hemorrhaged white-collar jobs since COVID but keeps adding blue-collar jobs. It's a narrative people aren't used to hearing.
  15. I don't see the location of the new building.
  16. With AI and deepfakes you can't trust video anymore. Did the CEO actually say that? You don't know because you weren't there in person.

All of Side 1 is still around. Cannibal Corpse is too. A guy who used to hang out on a musicians' forum I go to joined Atheist for a reunion tour that was so sloppy that he got embarrassed and left. You don't usually see that with metal bands unless they make so much money that they can't keep from touring (cough, Motley Crue, cough).
  19. Cars do last way longer. 150k is the new 50k. But I don't know if the perception of the main consumers of leases (senior citizens and wealthy individuals with little car knowledge) has changed enough yet. To them 100k miles is astronomical. It doesn't help when some of the cars with the highest lease percentages are cars like Jaguars, Land Rovers and Maseratis which start handing people big repair bills way earlier than Toyotas. So much of life is perception rather than reality 🥸

I'd say half of Side 2 falls into that category.
  21. Also the Hall has made sure to honor hip hop which should help it stay relevant longer even if Rock's popularity somehow drops off of a cliff. It's not like the Hall prevents other more genre-specific Halls from existing.

Hahaha, did the presence of the Goo Goo Dolls keep this from becoming Metal Massacre #27 or whatever and instead relegated it to being a mere "Sampler"?
  23. In their minds they're the Tianamen Square guy.
  24. I wonder what they mean by that.
