There was a pinball machine in the early '90s which used sensors that attached to your skull. All you'd have to do was think about the flippers and they would move. I never got to play it. Regular arcades like Aladdin's Castle and Quarterflash didn't have it. Maybe it didn't catch on because they were finding out things about people that they didn't like. Sort of like how that arcade game Polybius erased people's feelings.
  2. Interior of the Youngstown house looks like some '80s pornos were filmed in it. I like it.

Well, it's not like I'm worried that much about it, being straight and all. But, I remember the time a buddy of mine who messes around with dudes here and there was over at another friend's house where that guy's new 20 year old girlfriend was calling everything gay. By the way my buddy explained her speech I could tell he was really pissed off. I had already stopped calling things gay (and goofy stuff such as calling wusses "fags", regardless of their sexuality; as in "people who listen to Nu-Metal are fags, ha") back when he and I were roommates many moons ago 'cause I knew he didn't like it.

"Gay" used to mean "people who got laid a lot by different partners" whether they were doing it with members of the same sex or the opposite sex. Wilt Chamberlain would have been totally gay.
  5. ^ Until they're lying in an exurban ditch upside down trapped in their SUV where nobody can see them. They'll be wishing for density and other people then.

Oh yeah, I guess One Nationwide would be the closest skyscraper to Ohio State now that I think about it. The Motorists one would be closest to ODU.

Developing all that hardware in such a short time had to lead to serious debt problems.

I can't remember; that time was so chaotic in the hardware business.

Er, Sherman, the Sega CD was never intended to replace the 32X. Sega CD came out before 32x and there were even games that required both the CD and the 32X. You would only need three power cables when using the 32X and CD at the same time. 32X upgraded color and graphical abilities, whereas a Sega CD only gave games more room for CD quality sound, larger games and grainy full motion video.

^ The "gay" thing is one of the first symptoms of the 'net generation's disconnect from what's acceptable in the real world. Saying this or that is "gay" was the in thing to do on the internet for a while in places that young people congregated. Nobody told them it was wrong for some reason. If said young person hasn't been around LGBT folks in real life, they have never had the chance to realize that it hurts. This is but one of many problems that we are going to see in the future with a generation that doesn't see people's real life reactions to conversation enough. Empathy amongst the young is drying up for example.

^ Not enough made-for-TV movies about troubled women on Lifetime anymore, I suppose.

Is that C-bus shot from ODU? Yet, I knew where the Cincy ones were taken. Must not get around Columbus enough.
  13. Same thing happens with maintenance guys in the private sector all the time.

Quizno's seemed like their sandwiches relied too much on heavy sauces such as ranch.

Reminds me of Hazzard during the first six episodes -- the ones were actually filmed in the South.

You know, you guys are right now that I think about it. I never really had an opinion on Chipotle. It's because there's nothing going on, isn't it?
  17. It's because people want to be in cities with rail transit becuase they are happening places, even if they don't utilize it. If cities with decent rail weren't in such short supply, then the cities that do have it wouldn't be so mobbed. Same goes for real estate. It's overly expensive where density is combined with high quality of life becuase there is an undersupply of that, while many sprawl areas continue to remain relatively cheap (and are rapidly becoming cheaper) due to an oversupply of sprawl.
  18. All kinds of Cincinnatis crawling around under your flesh, searching for festering open wounds from which to escape.

Great city to visit with lots of fun roads around. Taking I-68 through town is an easy way to experience 1940s highway design.
  20. It's because people from that generation were taught to read using "Fun With Dick and Jane", which actually made people dislike reading and forced their minds to create an image for each noun and verb. Putting an image with each word (such as a wino passed out on a streetcar) is fine when you are teaching an imagery-based alphabet such as Chinese, but it's a horrible way to teach English. That's why that generation overwhelmingly prefers to receive news through television and talk radio and merely re-barks some robotic two-to-four word statement such as “We're broke.” or “It costs too much.” that they heard some radio god say when talking about the streetcar. The U.S. educational system stopped using "Dick and Jane" in the '70s/early '80s when they figured out that it was sabotaging interest in reading. Now this is obviously in the aggregate so there are lots of exceptions, including probably all of the posters here and many other public transit advocates that have been able to see though anti-rail B.S. over the years. Nonetheless, complex ideas such as how government finance works or the economic development potential of streetcars are best explained in writing. If someone thinks reading sucks and is boring, they're not going to take the effort to read more about something that they oppose. Here's a link that explains the “Dick and Jane” phenomenon in a humorous manner with links to more serious studies: http://www.cracked.com/article_19135_6-hugely-popular-books-that-accidentally-screwed-world_p2.html
  21. I didn't know about oversigning. What are the other naughty things that the SEC does that give them an advantage?

Who would have thought that the idea of taking a bunch of hockey teams out of Canada and putting them in the South wouldn't work?
  23. Problem is, nobody calls them out publicly on this. Personal finance has little to do with government finance, yet these clowns try to make everybody stupid so they can't understand how the government works. People are much more likely to distrust things they don't know anything about.
  24. I'm glad to get rid of him, his 1981 coaching style and Jim Bakker crap. I didn't like him at first, warmed up to him from 2001-2004 (like everyone else) and began to dislike him again not long thereafter after I realized that he would never win another national championship as long as these high-tech southern and western teams are around.
  25. But now, because of the Japanese disaster, supply of automobiles has become tight. So while orders were down in April, dealers are already feeling the pinch. Don't be surprised if the next time you take your (newer) car to the dealer for service they ask to buy it from you.
