  1. There aren't many declining areas of Columbus anymore except Eastland. The city has so much momentum that parts of town I thought were lost for good such as Brice Road are seeing re-investment.
  2. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Hardee's since it lacks the signature architectural elements of period locations of the others. Treacher's had a distinctive feel to them as well and a tiny dining room by modern standards.
  3. Stores, non-chain sit-down restaurants, bars and such in the U.S. require more and more density to be located in walkable areas. Couchlock and online buying is so epidemic in the U.S. that it's hard for them to function without major population increases -- in the case of stores especially. Without things like roommates and multi-generational households it's practically impossible for businesses to keep up. Other countries still have those living arrangements and they didn't tear down all their old density in the '60s and '70s. They also support B&M retail. Functional walkablity is so scarce in this country that when it exists it has become very expensive. Down in Xenia it's typical of Ohio small towns in that it has a TON of creaky 1890s-1920s single-family houses with yards located on streets where the housing goes on for block and blocks with zero businesses to break up the monotony then a downtown that got half demoed for surface lots (mostly not due to the tornado) and fast food. This arrangement is so common in Ohio that its monetary value is very low.
  4. I don't remember any of the anchors being 2 story. That looks like it was the JCP?
  5. Sig Nage... they're opening up in a lot of these buildings and taking up the whole first floor
  6. It might be a little Market District Express format like Bexley instead of the large format one as seen in Grandview.
  7. R.I.P. Obetz KFC/Long John Silvers combo location. 2000?-2023.
  8. I think they really like having the Pins/16-Bit combo locations since people aren't always in the mood for video games (ask me how I know) but they can stroll on over to the Pins side and find something they like. Or groups can split up and try both kinds.
  9. ^if the Newark Arcade gets done that would be MASSIVE.
  10. If someone mentions Archbold I have to mention Stryker!
  11. I mean, once you have a Wal-Mart do you really need anything else

How about Protect Ohio From this Asswipe Trying to Force Monoculture on Ohio. Way too many bored lawyers in Cincinnati.
  13. Chillicothe, Coshocton, Lancaster is pretty good and -- for having only 500 people -- Stockport.

If MTV did it the network would start out with pot content 24/7 but it wouldn't be long until it devolved into something totally unrelated such as a slideshow of AI-generated memes.
  15. Europe has public restrooms outside all over the place. They are not just for the unhoused. I'm trying to remember where the public restrooms that you could just stroll into were Downtown when I was a kid ('80s). Outside entrance into the basement of a building I think.
  16. Thanks Obama

Figured something was up considering it was from a tabloid.
  18. I can't believe we have to keep voting just to make sure they do the thing we already told them to do.
  19. Because they don't directly quantify ROI of projects since the key measure is enrollment -- which basically acts as a slush fund when making project decisions.
  20. It would have been pretty sweet if UC would have wound up being mostly towers as planned in the '70s. The downside of that time frame would be the whole place could have been Ugly Sisters.

Oops, I was going on yesterday's VinFast market cap of $85 billion: https://www.autonews.com/manufacturing/how-vinfasts-market-value-passed-ford-gm?utm_source=daily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20230816&utm_content=hero-headline

Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast is currently worth more than Ford and GM combined.
  24. It became a problem in Groveport about 5 years ago because the tennis courts were always full of pickleball and people couldn't play tennis.
  25. I now spend my weekdays at a farm where everything is the old hard way. My productivity is terrible due to the enormous complexity of having to do things the old hard way. I have to help someone who never learned use the internet. There is no internet there and my cell phone barely works. Everything is snail mail, house phones and newspapers. I am not allowed to speak during weather reports. Only the main house has AC and downstairs only. It is impossible to stay properly hydrated 5 months a year. I owned another business for years and this place turned into a total dump in the meantime. Food is a major hassle. Have I become smarter because of this?
