But that's one of my favorite attacks to use against tailgaters. That and the old "push in the clutch on an uphill" trick.

Enzo, I don't claim to be a military expert, but how did you get away with having a beard on a military ID?

I was in San Francisco, staying with a friend who lived near the People's Temple, when that story broke. We had heard many more sirens than usual that day, but didn't know what it was about until the evening news, when we learned that a large number of people had tried to storm the Temple, which was protected by a fence and gates. They were trying to find out the fate of their family members and friends who had gone to Jonestown. The more information came out, the more horrifying the story became. I think it had more impact than the Waco/David Koresh incident because it unfolded so abruptly without the long siege and buildup that culminated in the inferno at Waco, and because most of the victims went willingly to their deaths (although there was evidence of coercion in some cases). My dad actually met Jim Jones at some point.
  4. ^ You won't get busted because an officer will never see you touch the buttons.
  5. That actually would be kind of fun to mess with, wouldn't it? With your "fun money" of course. Geez, I am still kind of a financial nerd despite abandoning the industry.
  6. I always felt that on many routes Cincinnati buses were too large for the terrain, sharp turns and narrowness of the streets. I guess that I'm not totally bonkers after all!

"Boots to bare" is what they say.
  8. ^ the exurbs.
  9. I bet bababooey was to busy brushing his massive choppers to notice this thread
  10. I think in the short-term (in this case 50 years or so) declining birth rates have negative consequences. But in the long term they are probably for the better.
  11. Avoid these guys:
  12. ReTagIt is a fun resale shop. They have all kinds of stuff you'd never expect. Like paintball guns and building supplies.
  13. It's definitely happening in Columbus. On the residential side, it seems sprawl development has almost completely stopped here, but there are still projects going on Downtown.
  14. I don't think population decline is a bad thing for almost any country right now. Mechanization and the computer have taken so much work from people that the price of human labor is artificially depressed.

I hate TVs placed in waiting rooms, fast food joints etc. TV really annoys me unless it's something I actually want to watch, which is getting rarer. I like going to bars that have 0 or 1 TVs, though sometimes a sports bar can be fun.
  16. My folks and I were trying to figure out what the area with the white cover and blue stripes is going to be. I was thinking the ice rink.
  17. I did that a few times when I was a kid. It's because I was a dumbass. This happened in the suburbs.
  18. This one has a lot less chicks than the last XU thread.

I like how today's MTV exists solely to manipulate girls between the ages of 8 and 20.
  20. Right, someone would have to be pretty sharp to have worked there really.
  21. I was just walking past the site yesterday, and it doesn't really seem that the park will be offensively oversized, especially if the planned buildings go up around the perimeter. As long as no one got in your way, it really only took less than five minutes to walk all the way across the mall even though you couldn't walk in a straight line for very long.
  22. Awesome Town? That can't be a nickname left over from the '20s. Sounds like the Ninja Turtles named it.
  23. ^ Well, it's a good thing that somebody from Long-Term Capital Management has learned to spot a bubble.

And some people don't want to jump through the hoops or want the government involved. Kind of silly, but very real.
  25. Don't forget about the still-constant increase in automation.
