  1. Homeless people have bummed money/rides off of me in the following places within the past two years: Mall parking lots Suburban car washes Milford Oakley Reynoldsburg The BP station on US 23 south of Columbus just outside 270 My parents' farm in Pickaway County; on our own land The suburbs are full of homeless people -- you just don't see them much because you are whizzing by at 50mph.

    ^ Maybe it's third base.
  3. ^ Boy, it sure is fun being trapped in the '60s here in the States as compared to the other first-world countries.
  4. I dig 'em!
  5. ^ I don't want to see the grandstand go. It is totally sweet.

Don't worry, the speed limiter can easily be defeated by a hand held programming device.
  7. Something really needs to be done about the abandonment of place-names in Columbus. Everybody knows German Village, Short North etc. and some people know Berwick, Linden, Beechwold and such, but most everything else is just called North/East/South/West Side today. It wasn't like that 50 years ago, but for some reason the media has almost erased those names. Cincy and Cleveland still recognize their neighborhoods; we need to get our neighborhood names out there.
  8. ^ I can picture streetcar opponents saying, "Look! Oregon's in the crapper even though there's a streetcar!" Many rural parts of Washington and Oregon have been doing poorly economically as the timber industry and sawmills decline. Aberdeen, Washington, a town of about 15,000 (which was home to a disproportionate number of famous people including Nirvana, Metal Church, The Melvins, John Elway, a guy from the Doobie Brothers and Peter Norton of Norton Antivirus) has been melting down for many years.

Stupid Cedar Knoll Galleria. Who gave them the money for that? The funny part is that it was quite full for a while -- then died. I know the AK Steel layoffs didn't help, but between the DT-ish mall, Huntington Mall and other local retail, it was completely unnecessary. It was not a sound business plan.
  10. ^ Good idea. Maybe it could become part of the Ronald McDonald thing.
  11. Pre-war Columbus rips post-war Columbus a new one again!
  12. What a bunch of dumbasses. Living next to the freeway even though they hate the sound.
  13. ^ Hahaha, I think they were trying to get fund managers and individual investors to say, "Oooh, growth. I like growth."
  14. Get ready for more parking lots and EIFS.
  15. ^ I was going to say that as well.
  16. It's in Worthington? I thought it was more Clintonville-ish.
  17. ^ I just don't know about Segways. I think that there are already better ways of getting around.
  18. I read that book while in in grad school at UC for Finance. The gist of it really was that most analysts are mediocre at best, an insight that our professors reiterated on an almost daily basis -- interesting considering that was what most of us were looking to do for a living.
  19. DanB, I am at a loss for words. How can almost every other country in the world afford at least an adequate rail system but we cannot? Most other counties can't afford pointless roads and sprawl, but somehow we can? No we can't -- and it's getting pretty obvious.

Why? The only people who need to know that are cops and DMV people, who can tell the difference anyway.

I live close to this area. You can get trapped in the suburban street vortex real easy in some parts of Berwick. That bar WOOFs with the bear sign in the first picture appears to be closed, but looks like it was shady as hell when it was open.

I do agree with the idea of keeping a CPA around, but it's not necessary to pay a CPA big money to do smaller tasks that an inexpensive bookkeeper can handle, especially when you are small.
