Pet Peeves!
I'm from Columbus and missed it, but could easily tell the Cincy picture is backwards. How sad.

Amanda, Ohio
Bonus info about Amanda: It doesn't have a police department, so the bank gets robbed often. Amanda is known for breeding hoss football players, like a mini Colerain. It has or used to have, one of the most '50s furniture stores ever seen by these eyes. Very "Space Age".

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
I think they are just as likely to get them from rural areas and cities under 100,000 as anywhere else these days.

You missed the roller rink.

^I would eat at Cosi more if each one had an exhibit from the old Broad St. COSI.

Cosi corporate motto: "Hey Columbus, it's not a science museum and it's not pronounced 'Co-sigh'!"

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
Ahahaha, dumbass white racists fill the outer ring 'burbs and exurbs thinking that their kids won't turn out "too black" because they won't be exposed to black people. Then their worst nightmare happens: most of the "thuggy" white males and white girls who get with "thuggy" black guys are from these environments, not the cities. Since they haven't been around other cultures, the kids become obsessed with the MTV version of black people.

In what ways do you feel that you act as someone form the '70s-'80s?

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
I've heard this literally hundreds of times. I don't get why they don't see that if EVERYONE ELSE has one too, you're not higher than other people. women say the height makes them feel "safer" because they can see more of what's happening in traffic. Apparently people don't know how to look up 3 degrees. I have a Porsche 944 and the IROC pictured at left. They are low and get incredible highway mileage (even the IROC, which has over 300 horsepower and a huge cam) and I don't have a problem except when boxed in by SUVs or freight -- no amount of pickup/SUV lift kits or 44" Gumbo Monster Mudder tires will let you see around a semi or box truck!

Columbus: General Transit Thread
^ Well, that was depressing.

Pet Peeves!
Thing is, buildings today usually make the stairs nearly impossible to find and lead to several parts of the building that you aren't even supposed to be in. Meanwhile, the elevators might as well have flashing arrows and a tour guide leading to them. In older unmolested buildings the stairs are a grand extension of the architecture.

Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
^ That's how the convention and trade show biz works in union cities. A lot of times exhibitors are not supposed to handle certain items once they leave their car, the semi trailer or the freight desk.

^ Funny how I rarely see visibly struggling people at the thrift store, yet see them all the time at the mall.

Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
^ 2009 models are much heavier than their '80s-'90s equivalents, but mostly lighter than '60-'70s cars.

Ohio's Public Assistance
A lot of money? Where is RedMan now? Trust me, those rappers don't make as much as the general population thins. OK, I should have put that a different way because I know that is true... he was making more than someone who should be getting welfare.
-
Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
^ Today's cars get worse fuel economy than older cars because they weigh so much.

Ohio's Public Assistance
Redman was still got welfare and food stamps even though he was making a lot of money rapping.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
While I'm not as familiar with Columbus, I actually think several Cleveland streets should be raised 25 to 35, or 35 to 45. Columbus is practically a drag strip. Sometimes traffic can't even reach the speed limit.

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
Downtown Huntington WV has a whole phase on their traffic lights dedicated to pedestrian crossing. All they'd have to do is paint lines to have scramble crossings.
