Hello along with Columbus pics circa ~'93
MOAR!

Columbus: Cooper Stadium Redevelopment
^ I just consulted a map. 6 miles as the crow flies (or as the sound travels) from CMS would put you in the Short North.

Freight Railroads
KJP, it's kind of a bum out to learn that railways can barely recover their cost of capital from expansions of the rail system.

Today, I Overheard Someone in my City Say...
^ Yep, DC's business districts are d-e-a-d by 7pm.

Columbus: Cooper Stadium Redevelopment
Really, since each noise mitigation situation is vastly different due to topography, the nature of the source and proposed mitigation measures, the only way to know if there will be an issue is a professional noise study.

Cornhole: The Movie
They should have made sure to give everyone thick Westsider accents for authenticity; the rest of the country might not get the joke, though.
-
Columbus: Cooper Stadium Redevelopment
Columbus Motor Speedway has been racing 3 miles from German Village for 50 years without mufflers. If there was a noise issue, that track likely would have closed already.

Kingwood Center
^I know. The architect really should have thought of that. LOL

Columbus: Cooper Stadium Redevelopment
^ The sound of fireworks is broadcast over a larger area because they go off at altitude. Sound emanating from the ground gets lost in walls and buildings.

Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
Datsun/Nissan hadn't quite hit its stride in the '70s-early '80s, except for the legendary 510 and Z-cars. Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and Subaru were just better cars at that time. Meanwhile, the General was serving up the pop can Chevette, surprisingly heavy Citation and underdeveloped Cavalier, which did little to placate quality hounds.

Also, the track could just make everyone run mufflers. It would have no negative effect on the racing. The cars would only lose 30hp or so; a savvy engine builder would lose even less.

Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
Yep, but let's hope what happened in the '70s and '80s doesn't happen. America's small cars didn't measure up to the imports and lost sales because Detroit was doing things the old way -- big and bulky.

Ohio: Recycling News & Info
Most newer houses come with such garbage wood trim, doors and whatnot that it would be really nice to replace the original trash with stuff from older homes.

Ohio payday lending regulation
I wonder what percentage of the 6000 jobs are living-wage jobs.
-
Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
Looks heavier than the current model. You know what that means!
-
Columbus: Cooper Stadium Redevelopment
If German Village was actually close enough to the track to hear race car sounds, they'd have a better case.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
Welcome to a world filled with suburban spawl. Now stop ripping on Cincinnati and start encouraging people to live near the urban core! Ha, if they want rural life, they can move to Adams County and can either suffer an excruciating, cash-gobbling commute back to Cincy or take lower-paying local jobs. People need to stop trying to "have it all". It's not possible. They'll find out soon enough. Really "having it all" is making the most of a given situation and maximizing the situation's positives.

Show a pic of yourself!
Looks like she might have been drinking Sparks.

Your cellphone company: Are you happy with it?
In much of Europe, cell phone contracts are rare, you only pay for minutes that you use, and the bill is often less than $15 a month. Of course, Europe's higher population density means fewer towers and easier system upkeep.

Your cellphone company: Are you happy with it?
^ Those guys hurt the rest of the malls' sales. I hope they pay a lot for those kiosks.

"Upstate" Ohio?
^ I call North Central "Mid-Ohio".

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
^ don't forget soaring shipping costs. edit: er, you did actually acknowledge that. I suppose moving the HQ would upset some customers, but I've noticed its something that can be addressed with good marketing fairly easily.

"Upstate" Ohio?
I've never heard this term before. So "Upstate" is anything north or east of Cincinnati, I suppose? Is this an anomaly or some "Enquirer thing" that I don't know about? Salad dressing floods homes upstate http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080702/NEWS01/307020011/1056/COL02

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
I think most of the Limited Brands family's sales are concentrated in the heartland, which makes moving the company to the East Coast have little appeal.
