^ Yep, the Columbus area is notorious for that kind of development. I never understand how so many people can live in a suburban-style house way out in the middle of nowhere on only one acre. You can't do anything, not a damn thing, without a car. Talk about being trapped -- way worse than the suburbs. I definitely understand the appeal of owning 10+ acres and living in the boonies, but not one measly acre or a flag lot.

I take pride in being multicultural, I am just as comfortable in a suit & tie at the symphony or art museum as I am under the hood of a car or walking through the woods with a shotgun. I have also been 'teased' by some of my more 'urban' buddies for my knowledge about cars, hunting, fishing, firearms, camping or other recreations not as associated with the urban lifestyle. It's too tall. They have to make cars really tall today because of SUVs, and height (frontal area) really kills gas mileage at speed. Older cars are much lower.

Laidley Field. It was built as the local school system's football field and used for HS football, soccer, track and field (and even monster trucks!) for many years. In 2003, the University of Charleston football program was revived after many years, bringing more money for upkeep. And soccer's WV Chaos play there as well.

There are a lot of people who live in with a car-dependent lifestyle just because it's what they were raised with or is what most people they know are doing. Many of them aren't passionate about where they live; it's just where they ended up. These are the ones who would be better served by denser development. A surburban/exurban lifestyle will always be available to those who really want one, though it will be more expensive to get around.

"Real jobs" are going to get to the point where they're not going to be able to find any people to fill positions because they are invading people's personal lives so much. Everybody will end up working Joe jobs or starting their own businesses. That's how young people look at life today.

Many people on the board lived through the late '60s, '70s and '80s (up 'til C. Everett Coop spread a bunch of lies about AIDS), and can tell you that there was way more casual sex going on back then than today.

Burlington Coat Factory's also going into the Ridge store in Cincy. I think the main reason the Value City closed was because of the horrible access and congestion, but apparently BCF doesn't think it's a problem.

This building should help more students stick with school; one of the hardest things about attending non-traditional schools is having to commute. Also students will be around other students, not their high school friends that said "screw college" and work full time -- owning brand new cars, houses and jet-skis while the student is munching dry ramen.
